Bishop Eleganti Critiques Synodality's Shift from Christ-Centred Proclamation to Organisational Focus

Image
Bishop Marian Eleganti, a Swiss Catholic bishop and member of the Benedictine Order, is the latest prelate to express concerns regarding the current direction of the Catholic Church, particularly in relation to the concept of synodality and its implications under Pope Francis' pontificate (you can find his blog here in German and Italian). Bishop Eleganti's Article has four main themes: Synodality and Its Emphasis: Bishop Eleganti acknowledges the value of consultation and mutual listening within the Church. However, he critiques the current emphasis on synodality, suggesting that it has become a central focus overshadowing the Church's primary mission of proclaiming Jesus Christ. He points out that discussions often centre around organisational structures and inclusivity, rather than the core message of salvation through Christ. This allegation of introspection has been levelled at Pope Francis numerous times now, and the clear direction he has chosen to travel seems sta...

Pope tells Jesuits inclusivity, doctrinal evolution, synodality are crucial to Church

Image
The Jesuit publication " La Civiltà Cattolica " has published a transcript of the dialogue between Pope Francis and the Jesuits of Portugal during the Pontiff's visit to Lisbon for WYD 2023. These meetings the Pope has with the failing dying and declining Jesuit order are always revealing and Pope Francis often gives us a clearer insight into the workings of his mind. Vatican News reports : "Throughout World Youth Day in Lisbon, the rallying cry for an all-embracing Church resonated powerfully with the words "Todos, todos" (Everyone, everyone), pronounced by Pope Francis as he stressed that the Church "has space for everyone". He emphasized the pivotal importance of creating a space for all individuals, irrespective of their sexual orientation or gender identity, within the Church. This message continued to echo through his exchange with the Jesuits of Portugal." "The Pope reiterated his call to embrace homosexual people within the Churc...

Bishop Strickland - Apostolic Visitation

Image
If you have read my recent Catholic Herald article , you will probably be aware of the bishop of Tyler Texas, Bishop Joseph Strickland. As I mentioned, on a recent trip to the USA two things became increasingly obvious. Regular Americans of all stamps are frustrated that bishops seem to be endorsing error and failing to stand up for the faith. Bishop Strickland is considered the most vocal episcopal voice for the faith in the USA. This has led to him being dubbed "America's Bishop", a title last applied to the Venerable Fulton J. Sheen. Bishop Strickland recognises the consternation American Catholics feel when their bishops endorse Father James Martin SJ, whose voice grows louder and louder, especially on social media, where he is regularly attacking the deposit of faith, calling Scripture into question , this from just a couple of days ago: ...And this is not a one off, he does it all the time, here is one from last year: I wrote a blog about that incident here , asking...

In Francis' World ‘traditionalism’ is ‘infidelity’ to the Catholic Church and Vatican II

Image
Pope Francis has made his most direct attack yet on faithful Catholics in his homily during a Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica on October 10, marking the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council. Using a passage from St. John’s Gospel – “Do you love me? Feed my sheep” – Francis launched his attack on traditional Catholics. Extraordinarily ironic, given he is directly responsible for the closure of Traditional Parishes like the Shrine of Christ the King in Chicago , thereby literally and directly starving his flock of the Sacraments. It is when Pope Francis uses Scripture to justify his outrages I feel most aggrieved.  In this homily, the pope said “we are always tempted to start from ourselves rather than from God, to put our own agendas before the Gospel,” he decried those who wished to “retrace our steps.” The pope consistently seems to miss the whole point of traditional Catholic worship which accentuates the transcendent nature of God. As he is always praising...

The Hierarchy are "Hopelessly Dancing with Shadows"

Image
Fr John A. Perricone PhD is a professor of philosophy, a prolific writer and lecturer from New York. He is someone I have had the pleasure of meeting at some length and he was immediately recognisable as a great intellect and a talented homilist, with a wealth of knowledge to draw upon to make his points. He writes on the Synod in Crisis Magazine : “That which I tell you in the dark, speak ye in the light:  and that which you hear in the ear,  preach ye upon the  housetops.” ( Matthew 10:27) It seems as though navel-gazing is quite the fashion these days —even in the Church, if Synodal “listening” is any indication. The problem with navel-gazing,  a fortiori  Synodal “listening,” is that it prefers solipsistic reverie to the bold injunctions of Christ Our Savior. Rather than considering ways for Holy Church to bring the fire of her divine teachings to a wheezing culture drawing its last breath, it chooses the exhausted psychobabble of the transgressive seventie...

Down the Rabbit Hole

Image
The wonderful & erudite Fr. John Perricone, who I have had the pleasure of meeting, has written a most excellent article in Crisis Magazine which simply must be read. It offers great comfort for those of us who are incredulous at the counter Catholic nonsense which seems to be so keenly promoted by much of the hierarchy at this time. In it, he states: "After the pontificates of St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, Catholics believed that the bitter years of Newspeak and Wonderland had abated, and sanity was on the horizon. No such respite. Theological Wonderland has returned with a vengeance from the lips of the hierarchal upper crust. The past seven years has reached shocking new depths, but all of them seem to have been surpassed by a new species called Synodality. Before Church historians crouch to their attack mode, let us assure them that any Catholic is aware of the venerable institution of local Councils in the ancient Church (infrequently called synods). Each one of th...

Ze Germanz Road Map to #NuKirche

Daddy Pig                                                                                Cardinal Marx "The most terrifying words in 21st-century Catholicism are “I’m from the German Church and I’m here to enter into a synodal dialogue about new doctrinal insights.”" ~ Dan Hitchens It's true for GK Chesterton as always, when he stated: “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.” What better example could there be than the opulent, bloated German Church? These men have been pushing a particular agenda their whole lives. It consistently leaves people cold, disinterested & apathetic. It has destroyed vocations and wrecked Mass attendance . They so lack insight, intelligence & self-awareness that the only reaso...

The Destination of "Synodality" - Lessons from Norway

Image
One of the clear directions of this Pontificate is "synodality", purportedly devolving more power to individual jurisdictions (see here for example). This has long been code for a Church which changes its' teaching to fit in with a more modern secular perspective. “The ‘ sensus fidei ’ (sense of faith) makes it impossible to rigidly separate the ‘ ecclesia docens ’ (teaching church) and the ‘ ecclesia discens ’ (learning church) because even the flock has a ‘nose’ for discerning the new paths that the Lord is opening up to the church,” the pope said. Of course, to be Catholic is to understand that Revelation finished with the death of the last Apostle. Nothing "new" can be revealed. The Church does develop "new" ways of explaining the deposit of faith ( fides quae creditur ). The Church does not reveal God's will, that was what Jesus did. Rather She is a custodian of the great treasure of faith; the Revelation of God made in the Person of Jes...

C9 Cardinal: Final Synod Document Contains Language Riddled with Agenda!

Image
Pope Francis shares a word with Bishop Bruno Forte, Cardinal Oswald Gracias and Bishop Frangiskos Papamanolis (AP Photo/Alessandra Tarantino) Oh look! What a surprise! The final document of the 2018 Synod of Bishops contains language about “sexual orientation” “synodality” and “discernment” that doesn’t result from input from participants in the synod hall! Asked who was responsible for inserting such language, Cardinal Oswald Gracias of Mumbai, India, speculated it was the officials charged by Francis with overseeing synod operations, beginning with Italian Cardinal Lorenzo ( the book thief ) Baldifacedliar Baldisseri, the man who lied about the inclusion of the secular (and heretical) terminology "LGBT"'s inclusion in the Instrumentum Laboris (the working document of the synod). Speaking to Crux , Gracias said that when the bishops inside the synod received the draft, umbrage was voiced over the new language. “There was some resistance when it was publicise...

The Point of the Synod: Normalisation of Homosexuality or New Church Model?

Image
The baldness with which the homosexual agenda is being pushed at this synod is utterly shocking! The fact that this is being done in the shadow of revelations about sexual abuse which demonstrated over 80% of victims were young post-pubescent boys is demonic! In case you think this is pure fantasy perhaps imagined by some overly active homophobic mind, let me remind you of the third testimony from Archbishop Viganò : On June 23, 2013, I met Pope Francis face-to-face in his apartment to ask for clarification, and the Pope asked me, “il cardinale McCarrick, com’è (Cardinal McCarrick — what do you make of him)?”– which I can only interpret as a feigning of curiosity in order to discover whether or not I was an ally of McCarrick. I told him that McCarrick had sexually corrupted generations of priests and seminarians, and had been ordered by Pope Benedict to confine himself to a life of prayer and penance. • Instead, McCarrick continued to enjoy the special regard of Pope Franci...
