The 'McDonaldisation' of Martial Arts

This is something I wrote in 2007 about the way martial arts training is changing in the digital age: Me hitting the pads at UKWCKFA HQ I have thought about this for a while, and I would like to ask for thoughts on the matter. I am looking at this idea from sociological perspective and one of the areas of focus for this is cultural anthropology, but I also thinking about social criticism. There is a book by George Ritzer called The McDonaldization of Society , which details the developing "fast food" mentality of our society. Essentially it is making the argument that our culture is becoming too fast paced and people want results as of yesterday. Patience is no longer needed when you have the world at your fingertips thanks to computers and the internet.
