Record Breaking Chartres Attendance

Image
The blog Catholicism Pure and Simple brought to my attention this great piece of news: A Record-breaking Number of Participants Planning to go on the 2023 Paris to Chartres Pilgrimage The information comes from a report from a French publication. It really made me think of Tertullian's words "The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church". If, as I believe, the Holy Spirit leads the Church to the fullness of life, faith and truth, that same Holy Spirit will not lead us to falsehood apostasy and death. What greater sign could there be than that, in the face of the Synod on Synodality and all the other travesties of this papacy, in the wake of international clamp downs on the tradition of the faith, following Pope Francis constant insults to the faithful, we see the faith resurgent? Further, we know that Chartres was at the heart of the decision to restrict the Traditional Liturgy, coupled with a particular concern of the Italian bishops that they could no longer attra...

THE CATHOLIC RESTORATION

Image
Tired of apologizing for being Catholic? Sick of every other religion in the world being praised while yours is condemned? Weary of hearing about the rights of man, with no thought given to the rights of God and His Church? Done with CINOs (Catholics In Name Only)? Here's the answer. On Pentecost weekend in France, nearly 20,000 Catholics from all over the world--of every race and color, men and women, old and young--came together to worship God, to honor Our Lady and to send a message to the world: the anti-Catholic revolution has failed! We're back, we're here to stay and we're not apologizing for being proud Catholic soldiers of Jesus Christ. The Catholic counterrevolution is in full swing, and it's a youth movement. All for the greater honor and glory of Almighty God. Viva Cristo Rey! Vive le Christ Roi! Long live Christ the King! Cardinal Sarah & Chartres

Image
I have long wanted to get to Chartres for the  Paris-Chartres Pilgrimage , which occurs every year on the Feast of Pentecost in early summer, and is a multi-generational, multi-national gathering of Catholics who draw closer to God through the centuries-old act of pilgrimage. The walk is roughly 62 miles over 3 days—beginning at daybreak on the Saturday before Pentecost, and ending with an afternoon mass on the Monday after Pentecost. The trek takes approximately 8,000-15,000 pilgrims from the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, through the French countryside to the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Chartres. Participants brave the weather, blisters, and humble food and accommodations as an act of faith and an act of reparation in these modern times. My good friend Counter Cultural Father does it every year and usually writes a series of blogs recounting his experiences. He hasn't posted this year's yet, but keep checking his page for updates! I am generally excluded from joi...

The walk is roughly 62 miles over 3 days—beginning at daybreak on the Saturday before Pentecost, and ending with an afternoon mass on the Monday after Pentecost. The trek takes 8,000-10,000 pilgrims from the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, through the French countryside to the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Chartres. Participants brave the weather, blisters, and humble food and accommodations as an act of faith and an act of reparation in these modern times. If you want to get a flavour of the pilgrimage, I recommend you check out CC Father's blog , where he has kept a valuable record of his experiences on the pilgrimage over a number of years and with numerous children in tow. Last year, Cardinal Burke offered the Mass at Chatres and received an extr...
