Here “οἱ πλέονες” does not mean “the greater number” but “a greater number,” in contrast to the person mentioned.’ But it must be admitted that Heyne's “ὅγε καί” or Nauck's “γ᾽ ἔτι” sound more Homeric; cf. 679, 10.506.
