[666] All the variants given above lead back to an original “ΤΡΟΠΑΣΘε” = “τροπᾶσθε” for “τροπάεσθε” (-“αι” for -“ε” being only itacistic). “τρωπᾶν” (though given without MS. variation in 9.500, 11.568, 18.585) is a mere figment, though an old one, dating from the period which produced the ‘Epic diectasis’; we can always restore “τροπάειν”.
