[190] “πείρινθα, πλέγμα τὸ ἐπὶ ἁμάξης: τὸ πλινθίον τὸ ἐπιτιθέμενον τῆι ἁμάξηι τετράγωνον”, Hesych., rightly no doubt. It occurs again in Od. 15.131 as the receptacle on the car of Peisistratos into which the gifts of Menelaos are placed, and is probably the same as the “ὑπερτερίη” in which Nausikaa takes the linen to be washed (Od. 6.70, where, however, see M. and R.; Hayman, App. to Od. vol. iii. pp. vii.-xi., Helbig, H. E. 145).
