[454] ἔμελλε, was about to, should by Homeric usage take the fut. infin. We may doubt whether λίσσεσθαι is here meant for a fut., or the author of K followed the later use, which obliterated the distinction of tenses after “μέλλω” (see Platt in J. P. xxi. 40, and cf. note on 16.46).
