[415] ἄντ᾽ = “ἄντα;” 16.621, etc. ἐείσατο, for “ἐϝίσατο”, rushed, 4.138. As verbs of aiming regularly take a gen. of the object aimed at, it is a question if we ought not to adopt the variant “αὖτ᾽” for “ἄντ᾽”. Cf. Od. 22.89 “Ὀδυσῆος ἐείσατο ἀντίος ἀΐξας”. The change was a likely one when “ἐείσατο” came to be referred to “εἶμι”.
