The word occurs in later Greek, e.g. Aristot. Pol. i. 9. 16 “τοῦ εὖ ζῆν ἐπιβ.”, with the purely mental sense ‘desire eagerly’; like 1.173 “ἐπέσσυται”. Cf. the use of “ἐφίεμαι”, desire.
