[197] μεμαότε ἀλκ̂ης, cf. 17.181 “ἀλκῆς μάλα περ μεμαῶτα” (v. note), and 5.732 “μεμαυῖ᾽ ἔριδος καὶ ἀυτῆς. ἀλκή” in this connexion means deeds of prowess, cf. Pind. N. vii. 12 “ταὶ μεγάλαι γὰρ ἀλκαὶ σκότον πολὺν ὕμνων ἔχοντι δεόμεναι”.
