[450] ἐπίουρον, so Od. 13.405 “ὑῶν ἐπίουρος” . The scholia mention a variant “ἔπι οὖρον”, but the compound is clearly more suitable. Compare “ἐπίσκοπος” 10.38 with note. For the birth of Minossee 14.321, where his mother is called “Φοίνικος κούπη”. That passage, as we shall see, is of later origin. There is not, however, anything in it inconsistent with the genealogy here. Minosis mentioned also in Od. 11.322, 568, Od. 17.523, Od. 19.178.
