[632] εἰνοσίφυλλον = “ἐν-ϝοσι-”, from “ϝοθ”, root of “ὠθέω”, etc.; ‘making its foliage to shake,’ i.e. with trembling leafage. So Hesych. “κινησίφυλλον”, and cf. “ἐννοσίγαιος. Νήριτον,” Od. 13.351, Od. 9.21. The four places named in these two lines seem to be all on the island of Ithaka (“Ἰθάκη” being the chief town), though the Greek geographers located Krokyleia and Aigilips on the mainland. Σάμος is Kephallenia.
