December 8, 2012 - Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day

Do you long to be an actor? Do you love to dress up? Are you proud to be a geek (or possibly a nerd)? Do you adore thinking about time travel?

If so, do I have a “holiday” for you!

Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day has been going on since 2009. Watch this YouTube video to learn all about celebrating this day. (Hint: it may involved dressing in clothing from the past or future and acting a role.)

Here's a tiny sample from the video, advice on Pretending to be aTime Traveler:

Walk up to random people and say, “What year is this?” and when they tell you, get quiet and then say, “Then there's still time!” and run off.

For a tamer celebration...

Watch a time travel movie such as Back to the Future, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, or Frequency. Or watch some episodes of Dr. Who.

Read a time travel novel or story. You might try A Christmas Carol (Dickens), A Wrinkle in Time (L'Engle), The Castle in the Attic (Winthrop), or The Indian in the Cupboard (Banks). Teens might enjoy The End of Eternity (Asimov)... Here is a huge list of time travel books for kids, sorted by time period.
