He
went to a boarding school in England, spent happy summers in Norway,
hiked through Newfoundland, in Canada, and lived in Africa as a young
adult.
He
served the United Kingdom in the Royal Air Force during World War II.
He became both a flying ace (which means he was really good) and an
intelligence officer.

Today
is Roald Dahl Day because it is his birthday! Even though Dahl
died in 1990, at age 74, people still celebrate him and his works
every September 13.
To join in the fun, have a chocolatey Charlie party (send golden tickets as invitations), dress up as an Oompa Loompa, watch a Dahl movie, or of course go straight to the original and read a Dahl book!
