DFG Community Top Posts of the Week! Seven Posts You Should See!

Old School here with the latest featured article. The DFG Network Posts of the Week is a weekly feature where we will feature things that the DFG Team (Authors and non-authors) have pointed out as great posts from blogs in our network. Not only does this help support our Network Members, but it also allows the 1.5k+ visitors we get daily to find inspiration for our next project. This week is very Chaos oriented. The reason for this is that this humble blog started with a Chaos Space Marine army and one man. It has grown so much bigger than one man or one army. This first week is a tribute. So without any more yammering from me, let's look at the first seven Post of the Week!

Ogre Kingdoms: Firebelly Fully Painted!

Old School here with some pics of my Ogre Firebelly. This model is a ton of fun to paint and to play (he is the scourge of the Skaven race locally). After a big hiccup in the fact that the head/arm/flame didn't fit together at all, I simply cut the stream of fire leading from the mouth, glued the head and arm where they belong and then just re sculpted the flam with green stuff. Once that was finished, it was time to lay some paint down. Let's take a look at the final product.

Ogre Kingdoms Slaughter Master Painted and Ready for War!

Old School here with more from the Ogre Kingdoms army I am working on for the upcoming Warhammer Fantasy League I have joined. The new addition to the force is the near "Auto-Include" Lord choice, the Slaughter Master (or butcher for those of you just taking a dispel scroll caddy! This model reminded me of the Iron Blaster in many ways with all the various textures and aspects, but it was much more fun to work on. Let's take a look at some photos I took and go over the basic paint job.

Warhammer Escalation League: Thoughts on Fantasy, Small Games and making 500pt Ogres work!

Alright, so we gave a pretty large Fantasy league developing here in Lansing and with 17 people on the board, we even have some good representation from most of the races.

Getting involved with Fantasy in my local scene in really exciting, but that first game has been a knot in my stomach for some time. After all, what the Hell can Ogres do with just 500pts. (and I finally fixed this post, sorry for those of you who saw the crap my phone spewed last night!)

Ogre Kingdoms Update: Bulls, Fluff and updated pics!

Old School here with an update on my Ogre Kingdoms army! I have rocked out a group of Ogres (bulls for the old school OK players). I have also re-photographed a collection of Ogre stuff I already have done, now that I have access to a big boy camera!

Ogre Iron Blaster Ready for War!

Old School here with my Iron Blaster! I have to say it again, these Ogre kits are just plain fun and while this thing at times had me cursing it's complex variety of textures, surfaces and colors, I ultimately had a ton of fun painting it. So let's walk around it and kick the tires.

Scibor Makes Ogres: Slaughter Master, Tyrant, Giant Beast! Also, a little slice of Orky Heaven!

Old School here to inform you of another GW alternative, this time for Ogre Kingdoms. It seems Scibor Miniatures is at it again and have brought forward three new offerings; a slaughter master, tyrant and some kind of Mournfang Monster! Let's take a look.

The Slaughter Master Armor Dilemma: What is an Iron Fist?

Old School here to talk a little Warhammer Fantasy with you. Tonight I want to crack open the debate on the Slaughter Master and the big issue that is sweeping the forums and to a lesser extent, the blogosphere (get with it bloggers, Fantasy is the shiz)! Let's take a look at both sides of the fence and then I will offer my lowly opinion ...

It Came From the Forums: Lew-B81's Ogre and Chaos Conversions!

In this edition of It Came from the Forums, for the first time in this blog's history, we will be looking at Fantasy  and Blood Bowl exclusively! The artist, known as Lew-B81 on Warseer, has already been featured on GW's blog and in several other places in the blogosphere, but I really want to take this chance to look at the broad sweep of his Fantasy and Blood Bowl work, so let's start with my favorite: Ogre Kingdoms.

My Lead Belchers, Three Fat Fellows!

Old School here, returned from a weekend at Wolfson's house, where we hit the workbench pretty furiously. Aside from getting in a couple games of Fantasy with the Ogres, we managed to get a lot of work done paint-wise and I wanted to get a quick post out there for my Ogre Kingdoms lead belchers. These three jolly fellows came out pretty well, I think. Let's take a look at them.

Two Ogre Kingdoms Test Ogres

Old School here reporting between brutal homework sessions with what little paint I can throw down. I want to throw out a few pics of a couple of test ogres I have painted up (at least enough to post for feedback). They are simple and straight to the point.

Quick Ogre Butcher Conversion Shot

Old School here with a quick phone shot of an Ogre Butcher I have in the works. Here is the result of about a half hours work between homework assignments. Don't worry, this is but a taste of what I have cooking for this model. There is much sculpting ahead, I just felt like shooting this out to the world from my phone real quick!

Ogre Kingdoms: Thundertusk kit review with tons of pics!

Old School here and yesterday I decided to build the Thundertusk. Why? You say? I really wanted a beast that could help support my army since it is already good at beating on the little people of the Warhammer world AND I know that everyone is going to be building the super-sexy Stonehorn and I just wanted to be different! Let's take a look at this prehistoric mammal!

Ogre Kingdoms: Ironblaster Kit Review with Pics

Old School here to take a look at the Ogre Kingdoms Ironblaster kit. I got the chance to build this model yesterday, so why not show off some pics and kick the tires a bit?

First off, like all the new plastic kits from GW, the overall quality and fit of the plastic was great. There was nothing that needed to be fit together that was odd or miscalculated. Furthermore, many of the parts that fit together would have little bumps or 'teeth' that would fit in divots one the opposite piece. This made it easy to line up two halves of the same plastic piece (I wish they would do that for some of the Eldar vehicles).  Aside from that, the kit came with a giant fold out set of instructions that made it fairly easy to figure out where everything is.

Oh Snap! Lookie What I got! A Fat Lot of Ogres!

Old School here and it looks like they made a Fantasy Player out of my after all. By they, I mean the big fat jerks known as the Ogres. These guys have bullied their way into my head over the last month or so and after a few games of Fantasy, I had to have them.
