Halo Fleet Battles At Salute 2015!!!!
SeerK here once again from the realm of Spartan Games. Well attendees of Salute 2015 are in for a treat this year. Spartan Games will be giving people a glimpse of their new game. Halo Fleet battles! The box set looks like it is going to contain a metric ton of miniatures. The scale is smaller than Firestorm Armada and from what I am told uses a unique rules set. Halo fans rejoice. I know I will be picking it up when it is slated to coem out thsi summer. Now onto the starter box contents.

The Adepticon Aftermath and Schaumburg Prime Offensive Results!
Greetings all. SeerK here with the results of The first Schaumburg Prime Offensive at Adepticon. The North American Firestorm Armada Champion was crowned and much fun was had by all. I apoligize for the lack of updates as I had computer problems this past weekend. I was forced to resort to the blogger app and it is not as good as the normal interface. Technical difficulties have been taken care of. We had 26 sign up for the Offensive and 24 players started the Tournament. We had 2 drops after round 3. After the guns were silenced and the Kurak defenses were swept aside. The Zenian League lead by the Nefarious Works Raptor won the day.
It was a great field and every race except the Aquans were represented, I know weird right? No Aquans. But I am sure you want to know the results. Without further adieu the winners

Adepticon Update!
SeerK here with a quick day 2 update almost live from Adepticon. The WayGate crew is currently running our all day Firestorm Armada Grand Tournament, also known as The Schaumburg Prime Offensive. Friday we ran demos of Firestorm Armada and Firestorm Planetfall. We got to catch up with the Crew over at Firebase Delta Podcast as well. We will be recording with Phil a d Company tonight after the tournament.
The crowd is great this year and despite my lack of 40k love it was nice to see the GT in full swing and all of the team tournament displays. So enjoy the photos!

Adepticon Day One!
Adepticon 2015 Day 1
SeerK here once again, bringing you some almost live coverage of Adepticon 2015. Yesterday was a good start to the week. We did demos of Firestorm Armada and Planetfall in the afternoon. We had quite a few people stop by the booth and say hi and try out the games. I was very happy to find out that there are a lot of Firestorm players out there, but were not active or had not tried out the new rules set. We got them educated and I think we will have quite a few more new and newly active players again. The new venue is huge and Adepticon has not even come close to filling the whole space.I got to meet up with some old friends and meet some new ones as well. I want to give a shout out to Justin, Cyrus, Kevin, Seth and Brandon from Secret Weapon and Iron box Games for letting me work with them at the booth for a couple hours. It was also awesome shaking the hand of my favorite games designer from years past, Mr. Andy Chambers. I also got to try out Infinity by Corvus Belle finally. I am hooked.
The new venue as I stated is huge. If you are enroute or planning on attending next year, make sure you have comfy shoes. I have been getting my cardio in walking from my room to the convention part of the hotel. Enjoy some pics from day one. We are experiencing technical difficulties so I apologize for the short post. The WayGate laptop decided to die as I went to post, so i am relegated to my Ipad.

Spartan Games And Halo!?!
SeerK here from The WayGate once again. This time with some news from Spartan Games. So if you are not signed up for Spartan Games news letter, you probably did not see the big announcement today. Spartan games has teamed up with Microsoft and will be producing a Spaceship combat game based on The hit console game Halo. Not only that but they will also be doing a ground combat game.
This is pretty big news as it is Spartans first joint venture and their first Licensed IP game. I am on the fence about it, but I ma hopeful this brings in the capital Spartan needs to really expand and ramp up and consolidate their core games systems. The one we know and love and brought them to where they are now.

Firestorm Armada PT 3: Building a Fleet
Seasons Greeting all! SeerK here with
part three of my introduction to Spartan Games Firestorm Armada. We
have had an overview of the major races in the setting and an
overview of the game turn. We are now going to look at list
building. Building a fleet in Firestorm Armada can be a little
intimidating at first, but once you do it once or twice it becomes
second nature. There are two things you must determine before you
dive into list building. You must decide first what the point level
of the game is to be, this is referred to as MFV or maximum fleet
value. You then determine which mission you are playing. There are
6 missions in the main rule book. The real key to list building is
that you know exactly what faction you are facing and also know the
mission before hand. This means you can make a list that is properly
kitted out for the game. I know 40K players will look at this and
think “Oh Great List Tailoring”. You both get to do it and you
do not know what your opponent is bringing other than the faction.
Once you have a point limit determined
and you know what mission you are playing you can move into building
your actual list. Firestorm Armada uses a “Force Organization
Chart” style of list building. That is you have minimum squadron
requirements and maximums. Each race has its own Fleet Composition
Table. Vessels are divided into 3 different tiers based on its size.
Tier 3 vessels are the smallest ships. This tier is made up of
Frigates and Corvettes mostly. Tier 2 vessels form the bulk of your
fleet. Cruisers, Gunships and other more specialized vessels make up
this tier. Tier 1 vessels are the biggest. This tier is made up of
Dreadnoughts, Battleships and other command level vessels. Your
Fleet Admiral always occupies a Tier 1 vessel.

Firestorm Armada Pt 2: The Turn
Greetings! SeerK from The WayGate here once again.
Today I am going to be taking you through a turn of Firestorm Armada.
Last time we covered the six core factions and gave a little
background on each of them. Now its time to get down to business and
talk about the game itself. We will walk through a typical game turn
so you can get a feel for how the rules work and how a turn flows.
Before the game starts you typically
decide which of the six missions in the rule book you are going to
play. This can be done by mutual agreement or roll a D6. After the
mission is determined you build your fleet. Thats right you get to
build your fleet after you know what mission you are playing and what
faction you are playing against. This is also when you determine the
point level of your game. The composition of your fleet, IE the
minimums and maximums you have to take and can take, is determined by
the point level of the game. Players who have played 40K are
familiar with the Force Organization chart. This is a similar
concept. Games of 800 points and below are considered Patrol Fleet
sized games. Games of 801 points to 1200 points are considered
Battle Fleet sized games. Games 1201 points and larger are
considered Grand Fleet Sized games.

Firestorm Armada: An Introduction
Greetings! SeerK here to initiate you into the world of Firestorm Armada. As some of you may or may not remember this is not my first appearance on Dark Future Games. I was, up until about a year and a Half ago, a long time 40K player and owner of Craftworld Lansing. The Craftworld is gone as is my 40K collection. It has been replaced by The WayGate and a rather large fleet of Firestorm Armada Ships. So what is Firestorm Armada? Lets take a look at the universe and story behind the game.
Firestorm Armada is a game of mighty fleets of space born war ships fighting in the cold depths of space. It takes place in the far future where mankind has been divided by oppression, rebellion and war in the wake of expansion into the far corners of the galaxy. Our game takes place during a time of war. The Terran Alliance, once the dominate power in the Galaxy finds itself besieged by the Mighty Dindrenzi Federation. The Dindrenzi Federation is made up of the old Terran Satellite Charter outer reach colonies. They fought for their independence under the hand of the Rense family. One hundred years after a hard fought independence, the Federation is expanding and exacting revenge on the Terran Alliance for their years of oppression and in remembrance of the Planet Dramos, which burned in nuclear fire at the Terrans hands.
