Adepticon Battleforce Box Winner!

Old School here to announce the winner of our Adepticon Battle Force Giveaway. I just want to start by saying that we ended up with 326 total entries into the contest from Thursday night to the wee hours of Monday after the poker tournament. We had tons of fun, met a lot of hilarious people, hung out with friends new and old and drank like the viking gods of old!

I want to thank everyone who entered the contest and had a few laughs with us this weekend, but there can be only one winner, so let's get to it!

Adepticon 2012: My Personal Favorite Army from the 40k GT!

Old School here and I know we just covered a ton of 40k GT stuff, but I wanted to take the time to show off one army on its own. I am a big Chaos fanboy and this is easily my personal favorite army out of the whole group today. Angry Richard, the creator was really humble, but his work is amazing, between the conversions, the theme and the paint. Let's pay homage to an awesome Dark Mechanicus themed Daemon army:

Death Star Update.... no more orks...

So with great sadness I have to report my orks will not be making their appearance in the team tournament as planned. Unfortunately I had to move for a new job and both things combined meant that I was not getting things done in time.

Fear not however, for there still shall be an appearance by the mighty Lord Solar Steve and the rest of the team. Instead I am playing a guard list that is very death starry... in fact I believe I am fielding the main gun from the Death Star...

That's right... I am fielding the magnificent Deathstrike Missile Launcher... protected by 3 Leman Russ Executioners with side sponson plasma cannons... Here is the full list just for kicks... it might change up a bit but so far this seems like the best options for most fun.

Operation: Kill Zone Open Play Day!

Sammy here with some info about a fun day of skirmish combat. what we're gonna do is have a open free play day for Warhammer 40k using the fan developed "Operation Kill Zone" if you haven't seen what Big Jim and his boyz have done, check it out!

Pre-Depticon Tournament Saturday: Scenarios and Schedule!

Old School here with an update about the Pre-Depticon Tournament being held this weekend at Game Links in Fowlerville, MI Saturday, March 24. Let's talk missions and the schedule of events.

And so it begins.... Lord Solar Whips his Nobz Back and Forth!

 

So as I stated awhile back, I was buying parts for a new army for the Team Tournament at Adepticon. As also stated, it would be orky.... and so it is, I have decided to run my Death Star as the most ill fated and hated of the ork death stars.... the Nob Biker squad... I do not have the details of the list completely hammered out just yet, however that does not mean I could not be working on the models themselves.

Over the past few weeks the DFG crew as well as other local gamers have been heading up to our FLGS and painting and assembling our armies on Wednesday nights. The result of this has been a big inspiration for myself to get to work on my list and the models I need to complete it. So far I have 3 Nob Bikers down.

Preparing for Warhammer at Adepticon

The Warhammer Fantasy Championships is one of, if not THE largest Warhammer tournament in the US. It boasts 140 players and has a reputation of being a serious step up in competition for the average wargamer. Last year I scored 23 out of 140 players and expect to perform better this year, but to be able to do that I need to prepare. Hopefully this article will give you a look into Adepticon's tournament process and help you prepare for it as well as any other local tournament.

The Road To Adepticon: Team Deathstar

The road to Adepticon is paved in Resin, plastic, paint and lots of tears. Mostly the tears of those trying to paint an army in under a month because they put it off for the past year. DFG will be representing in the Team Tournament this year. Myself, Lord Solar Steve, The Judge and Samsquatch Monster will be playing as Team Death Star. Lord Solar announced it a couple months ago, but given its the new year I thought I would start off our road to Adepticon.

I will be bringing the Craftworlders. A Seer Council on bikes to be exact. I am in process of assembly with 4 warlocks completed. I will be using the Chapter House Studios conversion kits. As it stands I have my Farseer completed and one Squadron of Guardians on bikes completed. I have yet to put paint on the warlocks, but the 4 I do have assembled are in primer and ready to paint. I have to acquire some more Chapter house warlock kits, 6 to be exact, and a couple more Guardian bikes and I will have all I need for my 1000 point force.

I will be keeping everybody posted about Team Deathstars “Road to Adepticon” over the next couple months. So keep your eyes open as there will be a flurry of modeling and painting over the next two months.

Team Death Star

Hello my long lost companions! As I am sure plenty of you know, I have had to take a long break from both 40k and posting due to my travel schedule for work. However starting next week.... I do not travel for OVER a month, nearly two, and maybe even longer!

Wolfson Preps His Eldar For Adepticon: Painted Farseer, Fire Dragons and Rangers

So its official I will be joining the rest of the DFG crew at the wonderful event known as Adepticon. This will be my first Adepticon and i am stoked to finally get out to see the rest of the DFG crew. I will be bringing along my Eldar and a Fantasy army to throw down with. The next few months will be full of painting and modeling to ensure that everything is good to go. I am looking at sending the two armies back with OST when he visits in January so i don't have to take them on the plane. This leaves me with a small amount of time to finish both these projects so look for frequent updates as more models are finished from both Armies.

I really enjoyed painting these Fire Dragons and spent a considerable amount of time staring at Google Images "Fire" to try an understand how to blend reds oranges and yellows for the armor.
