TJ, AKA Old School Terminator to our more venerable followers, here with an It Came From the Forums. This edition brings us a very colorful, very cool freehand-heavy Eldar Corsair army (dark/light meat)that I applaud not only for its incredible freehand art, but also for the bold color choices that fly in the face of most conventional armies. This badass sword is only the beginning. Let's take a look:

Battle Report: Craftworld Eldar vs Deathwing!
Old School here with a battle report between Wolfson's Craftworld Eldar and my Death Wing at the newly opened Dropzone Games in Glen Burnie, Md. This game was a lot of fun and had its share of twists and turns and reminded me how Wolfson finally got me from the sidelines to being a player so many years ago. Anyway, here it is:

Painted Forge World Avatar
Hello everyone,
Wolfson here bringing you my recently completed Forge World Avatar that I purchased at Adepticon.
I have been in need of an Avatar for my Eldar for quite some time but decided that only a Forge World one would do Khaine justice!

Wolfson's Hobby Update, Painted Dark/ Light Eldar, VC, More!
Hello everyone I am sure some people thought me to be abducted by the inquisition since it has been so long since i have posted. The truth is far worse as a new semester of college has sucked me in to possibly be lost forever. I have however at least had the time to work on some hobby projects in between class and homework.
First up is a project i got a little sidetracked on. A close friend of mine is getting back into 40k and started up a Salamanders Army. I know this is not a Salamander but i used this model to teach him some basics on how to build up certain colors especially the touchy ones like red, white and yellow as these can be

Wolfson Preps His Eldar For Adepticon: Painted Farseer, Fire Dragons and Rangers
So its official I will be joining the rest of the DFG crew at the wonderful event known as Adepticon. This will be my first Adepticon and i am stoked to finally get out to see the rest of the DFG crew. I will be bringing along my Eldar and a Fantasy army to throw down with. The next few months will be full of painting and modeling to ensure that everything is good to go. I am looking at sending the two armies back with OST when he visits in January so i don't have to take them on the plane. This leaves me with a small amount of time to finish both these projects so look for frequent updates as more models are finished from both Armies.
I really enjoyed painting these Fire Dragons and spent a considerable amount of time staring at Google Images "Fire" to try an understand how to blend reds oranges and yellows for the armor.

Battle Report: Vogrin's Grey Knights vs. Seven's Craftworlders!
Seven bringing you a Battle Report of a clash between the Craftworld Eldar and The Grey Knights of Lord Inquistor Vogrin. Our Battle was an 1850 point match.
We rolled Pitched battle, and 5 Objectives.
My list:
Dire avenger squad <10 man> with a wave serpent armed with bright lances and spirit stones
Exarch, dual catapults, bladestorm
Farseer with doom, runes of witnessing attached.
Dire avenger squad <10 man> with a wave serpent armed with bright lances and spirit stones
Exarch with Diresword and shuriken pistol, bladestorm and defend
10 man Fire Dragon squad with a wave serpent armed starcannons and spirit stones
exarch with tank hunters, crack shot and a dragon’s breath flamer.
Eldrad and Warlock council with embolden, enhance, 2 destructors with a wave serpent with shuriken cannons and spirit stones.
10 man striking scorpian squad
exarch with stalker, shadowstrike, and a scorpian claw.
His list I won’t be as accurate on
Vogrin Brought:
Purgation squad with 4 psycannons
7 man Grey Knight terminator squad
10 man Strike squad in a rhino
Vindicare Temple Assassin
2 Rifleman Dreadnoughts (dual twin-linked autocannons with psycannon bolts)
A stormraven containing a purifier squad with a Librarian and also a Dreadnought.
Also two servo-skulls.
Both us brought a mere 2 scoring units per side which didn’t hurt either of us excessively.
Deployment.
I won the roll for first turn and deployed my 4 squads in transport castled up and the Scorpians infiltrated. Vogrin setup kiddie-corner to me and left his Terminators to arrive via deepstrike.

New Model news - not just for Blood Angels
Lost in the storm of comments about the Blood Angels Dreadnaught and the Storm Raven, Forgeworld came out with an announcement today about their next set of models - 2 of which are already up for order. The Eldar get a set of new toys, the Warp Hunter tank destroyer, and the Shadow Spectre aspect warriors. These are set to be published in Imperial Armour Volume 11: "The Doom of Mymeara", but are available for pre-order now, and actually going out next week.

Chapterhouse Studios: Farseer Jetbike Counsel coming soon!
Love it or hate it, Chapterhouse Studios is on top of their game when it comes to their product. Adding to their line yet another item GW has neglected to make models for - Chapterhouse plans to release a Farseer on Jetbike and not only that, it seems there are variants to the upcoming kit as well as seen in these top three photos taken from their home page.
.
I can say that I am an avid fan of converting, but not everyone is and some folks just lack the time or skills and this seems to be where the folks at Chapterhouse offer a valuable service.
While I was checking out the upcoming Farseer kit, I also noticed some products were released that slipped past my radar! Check out these helmets! These look like they would be great for Death Guard or even for Iron Warriors. They really have a cool look to them and in fact, seem like the might compliment the bits available in the Forge World Death Guard conversion kit pretty well.
Alright, now I also came across these Tyranid bits on their Web site and while I really love the Salamander stuff I ordered from them many moons ago and though I am a fan of those pre-heresy helmets ... I am not so sure about those bone swords and lash whips. They seem a tad too big to me ... maybe the warrior ones would look good on a Tyrant, but the way they look in the photos is a little off scale, but that is just my taste. If you would like to see more from chapterhouse studios, just google them or follow the link in the far right-hand column of this blog.
.
I would also be interested in hearing your thoughts on how these kits look!

Eldar Tactica! Avatar
Rework in the makings for the Autarch. Avatar is sufficient for now but will most likely also be re-done.
All that is Beast! Rawr! For his points the Avatar is one of the Cheapest yet most effective CC monsters there is. He's T6 which means basic weaponry will need atleast a 5 or 6 to wound him and he's got a 3/4+ save which means he has a decent chance of stopping whatever does try and harm him. At 4 wounds he can even afford to take 1 or 2 ouchies before making it to combat and still tear shit up! He's S6 and MC and he even has a built in meltagun which means vehicles and Walkers are less of a problem than other things that are just as tough if not tougher than the Avatar. Did I mention he's WS10 and I6? I6!!! He can outswing and outhit even the fiercest opponents. He's a Daemon too! Daemons are all Eternal Warriors so no blowing his mind apart with Force weapons or having to worry about the Khan lopping his head off with a single stroke. He even makes other Eldar within 12" fearless. IMMUNE TO FLAME AND MELTA BASED WEAPONRY! Get some.
Even the beast must be wary though. T6 isn't by any means unstoppable. Though he can take his fair share of lasgun and bolter volleys doesn't mean you should let him and that's the lightest weaponry someone will carry, don't forget about heavier weapons that wound even T6 on a 2 or 3 and than you only have a 4+ invul to fall back on. Something that makes you take a save makes you take the risk of failing that save. For proper support you should have your own warriors giving heavy cover fire and/or presenting a multitude of threats that leaves the enemy unable to deal with all of them.
Distraction or Hammer? A Favorite tactic while running an Avatar is to split your force into roughly equal halves. Equal being based on either High Toughness or lots of models. The first half consists of the Avatar and the toughest BAMFs that you want to march alongside him, usually Wraithlords. These guys like to wade up the middle soaking up huge ammounts of the enemy fire power before charging in and crushing whatever was shooting at em. A potent fire magnet in their own right, the most frustrating thing is that some of them usually live to make it to the enemy line and this actually represents very little of your army. The Rest of your force is laying down cover fire or soaring to the flanks in tranports ready to butcher the enemy in close quarters. With the Avatar and a couple buddies providing such valuable not to mention potent double duty on the battlefield it's easy to see why these guys enjoy such popularity.
The Anchor The other way of running the Avatar without actually fussing over the little details is to use him to bolster a huge Eldar Firing Line or Horde of CC guys. Both ways are run pretty much the same way just one moves and the other does not. By using him to provide fearless you ensure your ability to return fire with every unit that has atleast one model within 12" of the Avatar no matter how many casualties are inflicted on them short of total wipeout or how many enemy snipers are trying to pin you. The other Way is to field bunches and bunches of Storm Guardians supported by a couple heavies and run them screaming at the enemy. I dunno how effective it is but it sounds like fun.
Comments and criticism are always appreciated guys. I'll be going over Rangers and Pathfinders in my next thrilling installment. Till next time!
