It came from the Night O Sphere: Deathmark Night Scythe and Despair Crypteks
I blew the dust off my painting desire for the Necrons and finally finished my two night scythes. These guys got to be the Deathmarks own personal ride. I figured since I love them so much I have to give them their own rides in my collection.

Reanimating the Necron Airforce
I blew the dust off my necrons to take to Indiana and it was quite the learning experience. I've played them since they came out and they are my go to army. Because of how long I've played them I am able to wield them as if an extension of myself. Until this weekend I didn't notice but it seems as if the world around me is forcing me to evolve...or devolve.

2013 Indiana 40k Championship
For the MiGT we used Torrent of Fire. On that I saw an upcoming GT in Indiana that I plan on attending. I wanted to give it a quick shout out because I don't think a lot of people have heard of it in the Michigan area. Let go down and take their trophy, boyz!

Air Compressor Revamp for the Airbrush; Don't fear the shop compressor!
One thing that has really put in me off lately from 40k hobby is not feeling settled. I've been in the upheval of my life for almost a year now and things are looking like they might finally settle back in. This year was one of the hardest of my life in which I came out alive and well and a better man for. I want to get back on that horse and start doing great work agian. This is my step one back into the light.

Painted Plague Bearers on Maggot Bases!
TJ here with a little side project I worked on while I waited for washes to dry ect on the tentacle monster I finished recently. The Plastic plague bearer kit is one I have been meaning to work with for some time and I managed to pick some up with a little tournament prize support a few months ago. The kit is awesome and even though the models are built, you will find some nasty conversions down the road from me thanks to the kit, but that is another story, we are here today to talk about the naked, little, fat, rotten guys and the worms they stand upon!

13th Company Space Wolves.
After almost a year from really painting anything I loved, I found my passion again. The 13th company is my true love after my childhood love of the ultramarine bikes. For the past year I've bounced around from one-night-stand codex releases to 3 month flings, never filling that void in my heart that the abandoned 13th company left. They're the girl that got away that I'm not letting get away.

GenCon 2013
Getting ready for GenCon and after being declared the lazy member of my group I go with I finally bought my badge and started looking around. I'm excited to go this year and want to make the best of it so in contrast to my previous years, I'm getting excited far in advance. Here's what I'm geeked up for this year!

Staying fresh while not playing.
by Chris Vinton
So I've had a lot of time to not play 40k. Baby on the way, work taking more of my energy, a kid that now wants a buddy more than a person that just gives food and a pacifier, and a miserably pregnant have all really cut into my time. So what do I do to stay fresh and scratch that 40k itch I have?

Tau How to: Supporting Fire
Tau Supporting Fire
When an enemy unit declares a charge, all friendly models with this special rule in units within 6" of the charging unit's target can choose to fire overwatch as if they were also targets of the charge.
By Chris Vinton
Support fire is a unique rule to the Tau Empire. This rule highlights the old saying "the best defense is a strong offense." If your list depends on this rule to win games your deployment is crucial. Layers of units and exact deployment both make and break this tactic.

Tau vs Orks 1850 Battle Report
1850pt Tau vs Ork Battle Report
By Chris Vinton
This week I ran my tau against orks. I'll admit the prospect of running against a close combat army seemed a sure bet for the tau, but with Matt's mech Orks I really had my doubts. 3 AV 14 battle wagons really pushed the weakness of my list. The sept was really in for a rough match with the marked lack of armor punch; this was a true test to my theory that my Riptides are enough to handle AV 14...

Vinton's Tau: Fourth Sphere of Expansion
My Tau expansion has began to take shape. After a solid call out by TJ I have elected to have another challenge army. This time....white.

Tau Experiments Thus Far.
By Chris Vinton
This is just a quick heads up to what I've been working with for the tau and my thoughts. The codex presents on two levels; one very basic massed shooting and another in tricky play and what I can describe only as no gimmick tricks.

Riptide Review
By Chris Vinton
I bought two riptides when they first dropped and I have to say they are one of he coolest kits I've bought in a very long time. The price tag is a bit of a shock at 85$ but this model is totally worth it both on the game table and the hobby table.

Canoptek Helldrake WIP
Carrying on with the Charons conversions I have today my Canoptek Helldrake. This conversion is based on the vampire dragon kit with some digging into the necron bits box.
The conversion is green stuff free and more flesh than machine. If I do a second one I plan on making the counter part more machine than flesh.
I also when a little dynamic with his basing to elevate him off the ground but not in a typical flier fashion. This monstrosity has found himself a little perch....
More to come on this little fella in the future but I just wanted to put him out to the blogosphere to get some input. Also didn't want TJ having all the fun with Helldrake conversions.

Canoptek Deamon Prince
So after an emotional battery from OST I decided to start doing conversions again. I realized that I had become lazy and was just buying kits instead of doing awesome conversions that I'm fully capable of doing. It started with the thunderwolf cavalry and buying a bunch of those instead of finishing my 13th company conversions.

Do's and Dont's of basing with CVinton
In this post I want to go over something often not considered in painting and often dreaded; painting your bases. In my experience as both a traditional artist and hobby painter I've found myself innately doing certain things people have recently been commenting about with my painting.
Often basing is a secondary though and viewed as a task. However, I encourage people to take time to think about their basing. It takes only little bit of addition time and can really help make or break that glance inspection of your army.

Chessex dice; love um or leave um?
Ive been to gencon for the past 6 years and I think I remember when game science first showed up with their premium dice. They make great dice with sharp edges that apparently give equal access to all the numbers. The big question is, is the cost worth it? Do these translate to 40k or is this more of a problem with DD and other d20 based games?

Land Speeder Vengeance/ Dark Shroud kit Review
I picked up a Land speeder Vengeance last night and finished putting it together this morning. I have to say its a pretty decent stream lined kit.
I come from the old school land speeders that fit together like a Picasso painting. Like the new remake of the basic speeder this guy really fits together will with just the nose leaving a little to be desired. The alter has great detail and and that detail carries through the whole model in very subtle ways.

Necrons; Whats in the FAQ
The new FAQ meant a lot of things for a lot of armies but for the Necrons it just means our games become more streamline and a lot less 'So, I usually play this this way, how do you play it' is being said before games for us. Here's a recap of what it all means for us.

Space Wolves in 6th Edition
CVinton to talk about some space wolves. 6th Edition has settled in and the rules are becoming more natural, so its time to figure out what it all means. And most importantly, what it means the the Vlka Fenryka.
