Foetid Bloat Drone Maggoth Conversion II (Even Nurglier than the first)

It always comes back to Nurgle, right? My love of Nurgle models goes waaaaaaay back to the earliest days of the hobby for me with Epic Mortarion, original Plaguebearers and the Realm of Chaos. In the theme of unchained, silly monsters, I offer my second Foetid Bloat Drone conversion.

A Typhus Conversion and Dreadnought step forward for Helloween 2017

TJ here to rock some simple starter kit conversions for my Death Guard. Now DG are not a priority army for me right now. I have my Alpha Legion and World Eaters taking most of my attention at the moment. This means that any DG I make are going to come from kits I already own or from the seven, YES seven! Dark Imperium Nurgle sets I have been gifted or discount sold by my friends.

First off is Typhus. Yes, I know, he is another conversion based on the Lord of Contagion, but it's what I have to work with. Hopefully, I have made him unique enought with the addition of some Destroyer Hive flies thanks to the Maggoth kit and a scyth also from the same kit.

Maggoth Foetid Bloat Drone Conversion! Helloween 2017

TJ here with my late entries to the DFG tradition of Helloween! I always create or paint horrific models around this time of year and share them here in celebration of Halloween! Today we will look at one of the few Foetid Bloat Drones I converted with the Maggoth kit! Let's check this gasbag out!

60 Poxwalkers done in a week!

I have been busy all this week painting Poxwalkers for the Konor Campaign (every little bit counts). I have finished off 60 of them this week, bringing my total of painted poxwalkers to 90 ... meaning 40 more to go.

I will be taking a break from them for now though so I can get some Bloat Drones painted, more bloat drones converted and painted and I want to get my new Typhus conversion painted too. Let's take a look at the poxwalkers and how I split the squads.

GW Alternative: Affordable Nurgle, Khorne Bikers/ Jetbike from Puppetswar

TJ here to talk about some minis that interested me for two reasons: Price and potential. These Doom Bikers from Puppetswar, a company my friends and I have had some great experiences with, not only blow away the old GW bike sculpts (for Chaos players in this case in particular), but also come in cheaper than the GW plastic bikes. They also have a jet bike! Let's take a look at the bikes, their options and talk price point.

Glottkin Maulerfiend, Spined Beast Conversion Finished and Based! One of my Favorite Works!

TJ here to show off what I would consider one of my best conversions/ kitbashes: The Panther. This project has been a ton of fun and I have challenged myself to try techniques I am unfamiliar with and a gravity defying pose. I am extremely proud to show this off here so let's take a look around this fecund feline!

The Glottkin Mauler/ Spined Beast Conversion Update 1

TJ here to discuss my progress with the Glottkin  mauler fiend/ Spined Chaos Beast. Last time we looked at the basics and to be fair, it isn't far from where we left off, but I am excited to pick the tools up again and get to work.

Glottkin Conversions: Plague Panther Part 1

TJ here to talk about my first Glottkin conversion peice. Basically, I am turning his arms into an entirely different (40k) model. Let's take a look at the mock up so far, which I call the Panther to fit my history of zoo themed project names.

It Came From the Forums Quickie: 40k Maggoth Maulerfiend Conversions from Lagrath!

TJ here with an It Came From the Forums quickie to show off some kitbashes brought to my attention by a reader and artist know as Lagrath at Bolter and Chainsword. We have talked previously about how these kits could theoretically make awesome models together, but he went and did it. He is the creator of an awesome pair of Maulerfiends that have been bashed with the Maggoth and also at the start of an incredible Nurgle project.

Let's take a look ...

Maggoth End Times 40k Conversion Ideas You can Steal!

TJ here to look at another of the Nurgle End Times models from Warhammer Fantasy from the perspective of a 40k modeller. Last time we looked at the Glottkin and while I think you will struggle to find that kind of value in the Maggoth Lord kit (or any other kit ever), I do think there are some ideas here for a skilled converter who has the desire and ability to stretch the kit out.

Glottkin in 40k: Conversion Ideas YOU Can Steal!

TJ here with a post regarding my plans for the Glottkin bros. I will do other posts for my End Times Nurgle plans, but this post is all about getting the best value for my dollar on this kit, which I will have in hand very shortly.

With no further delay, lets look at the brothers ...

New Nurgle, pt. 2 -- a hands on with the new Putrid Blightkings

Hey everyone, KrautScientist here. In the last post published here on DFG, TJ already talked about the possible conversion potential of the new Putrid Blightkings. And now that the kit has been with us for a while, allow me to talk in more detail about my own experience with these guys. Step this way to learn more.

The Drawing Board: Concepts for Conversions and How I Approach a Project Initially

TJ here and you are all either going to love or hate this post because it is filled with a bunch of crappy doodle I have been making in my notebooks during the less productive moments of meetings. Now normally, I would never post anything like this, but I did get an e-mail recently that asked me how I come up with my conversions and if I just endlessly peice plastic parts together until I find the right look or if I am some kind of natural ... I don't really do either. In order to come to an idea like the angry robot above, I first hit the drawing board and see what comes out of it. Let's take a look at the process.

Cleansing the palate -- with Nurgle?!

Hey everyone, KrautScientist here. Today, I'd like to talk about a problem we all know. I'd also like to tell you my personal solution to this problem and take the opportunity to show off some models. So what is this about? Step this way to find out!

Tutorial: Speed Painting Daemons For Quality Part 3

TJ here to continue and finish this three part series on Speed Painitng for Quality. Part 1 debuted on Dec. 8, Part 2 on Dec. 10. I am currently at sea on a Naval vessel and scheduled this a lon ime ago, so I cannot link those right now, so if you are interested in them, dig them up. The intention is to help people who have some dusty, unpainted daemons on the shelf - get them painted. I painted 40 models in 8 hours to better than the average tabletop standard and this post is where that all comes together, so let's get to it:

Tutorial: Speed Painting Daemons for Quality Part 2

TJ here with Tutorial number 2 for Speedpainting Daemons for a quality finish, unlike stereotypical speedpainting, which usually looks terrible. I recenlty painted up 20 horrors and 20 plague bearers in 8 hours, roughly 2 hours per squad (though I painted them all at once) and wanted to share the method with everyone, so, if you missed the first part of the tutorial, it published on December 8th (I cannot link it bacause I am at sea and this is a scheduled post), but for those who already read it, let's dive right in.

Tutorial: Speed Painting Daemons for Quality Part 1

TJ here with a tutorial that is geared toward not just Speedpainting Daemons (or anything else really fleshy), but speedpainting for quality. A lot of people see speedpainting and immediately just think "Crap" but it doesn't have to be that way. Recently, I painted up 40 daemons (20 plague bearers and 20 Horrors) and I did it all at once and it took 8 hours total. I paint for two hours a night, so it really took me less than a work week and less than i usually spend on a deamon prince, but the look is above what many call a table top standard and fits in nicely with my army on the whole, so let's take a look:

20 Hi-Fi Plague Bearers on Maggot Bases Join the Fight!

TJ here with some more Daemons I have painted up and this time, I am adding 20 colorful Plague Bearers to the mix. Why are they so colorful and not green? Why not!
