Should Deployment Get Its Own Isolated Time at Tournaments?

I attended an 1850 tournament recntly with only 2 hour rounds, but also allowed the players 30 minutes for both of them to deploy ... this seems like a really long time to deploy and a really short game, right? Well, not really. Let's take a look at how it went:

TJ's Necron/ Chaos Marines to $250 Tourney, Batrep and List Part 1!

TJ here with a little series of write ups from a tournament I attended the weekend before last. I took my Necrons with Chaos Space Marine Allies to Blue Ox games in Greenville, NC. I will talk about the store briefly, give a breif run down on the games and then talk about the list since I didn't really take many good photos. So here we go:

Reanimating the Necron Airforce

By Chris Vinton

I blew the dust off my necrons to take to Indiana and it was quite the learning experience.  I've played them since they came out and they are my go to army.  Because of how long I've played them I am able to wield them as if an extension of myself.  Until this weekend I didn't notice but it seems as if the world around me is forcing me to evolve...or devolve.

Indiana State Chapionship Round Up

by Chris Vinton

My theory of people that go to tournaments get better at tournaments (yes, its obvious but really think about it) was reinforced this weekend.  Jesse Z and I packed up the diesel jetta and made the trek down to Lafayette Indiana for the first state championship.  Despite the field being very small, there was some very stiff competition.

MiGT: Photos from Michigan's First GT!

Here is a long long dump of over 100 pictures from the armies at the MiGT.  I'll try to credit them where I remember them, but if I've missed you its because my brain may have been at max capacity over the weekend.  Here we go!

Warning: Very large pic dump after jump!

GT template search

The Michigan GT is into day two and as I walked around I was looking at tools of the trade. I stopped to admire Nick Mills' army and noticed some strange templates.

Chaos/ Necron List Thoughts 6th (1 year in), Time to Change My TourneyList

Regardless of what some people say there is a meta, nationally and locally, no matter where you live. That meta is defined by the types of lists and the capabilities those lists bring to the table and the kind of players who pilot those models and use the tactics behind them. That being said, 6th edition has been out for some time and we can now look back at list building over the last year and what has happened to change our lists and the way we approach coming to the table competitively.

It Came from the GT!? Incredible Thousand Sons Cavalry!

One of the things I wanted to do when I went to the GT at Dropzone Games (and well any event I go to), was to cover some of the great, painted armies that people brought to the event. There were several great armies on hand (and the Best Painted will get a post of its own soon), but Dameon Green's army from Khepri's Eternal Legion really blew me away. First off, the display was really nice, but once you look at the army, you start to see some really exciting stuff. Let's take a closer look:

Unification Wars GT: My List and Generalized Performance

So, if you have been following my activities lately, you will know that I attended Dropzone Games' first GT, the Unification Wars, which was a 1999 point event running a mix of book and non-standard missions. The missions were multi-tiered and allowed for more than one way to win any game. The system was a Swiss win/loss with a 2.5 hour round limit and when "dice down" is called, dice go down. I initially wanted to run a Nemesor/ Obyron list with some clever tricks, but after thinking about how I haven't had a ton of experience with the list, I opted to go with something a little more familiar to me. That being said, I ran my Bargecrons with air and assault elements. Here is the list and my thoughts on the performance:

Dropzone Games Unification Wars GT Day 1

Well, I brought the crons out today and went 2-1 against some great opponents! We played without the new daemon book today, but it didn't get me down. I win against grey knights, lost to CSM with Guard and won against a Typhus, flamer screamer daemon list. Here is a peek at what I ran and the action. Expect to seeing more, but for now: beer and sleep!
