Good Morning, Gratuitous Garrett Wareing

All it usually takes is an actor getting one sizzling photoshoot that grabs my eye -- the greatest example being Chris Evans' legendary shoot for Flaunt magazine of course -- and even if you've never made an impression on me with the whole "acting" thing I'll still file your name away for further reference. But with Garrett Wareing here, who's been acting since he was 12 (all of 12 years ago), he's had several shoots over the past few years that should've caught my eye but... didn't. Until this week that is, when...

... the latest one for Vulcan magazine appeared. And consider my eye caught. But after doing some digging I found several earlier photoshoots that should've done the trick (his Instagram was especially helpful in this regard) so now we'll play catch-up and post them all. Acting-wise the only thing I've seen Mr. Wareing in appears to be the 2023 film God is a Bullet where he was opposite Nicolaj Koster-Waldau and Karl Glusman, but there was a lot going on in that movie (obviously given those two names I just named) so I didn't notice him. Sorry, Garrett! That said...

... he is in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's infamous short story The Long Walk that Constantine director Francis Lawrence has directed, and which also stars Cooper Hoffman, Charlie Plummer, David Jonsson, Judy Greer, and Mark Hammil, so I assume 2025 will be the year this beautiful boy leaves a mark. I can say that assuredly because he already has, looking through these photos! (God I love furry blonds.) So hit the jump and brand him on your brains too...

Speaking Of Physical Media...

... and why would we speak of anything else... the unbelivable has happened! The fine folks over at Vinegar Syndrome have finally, finally, FINALLY, got the rights to release Richard Brooks' 1977 film Looking For Mr. Goodbar  -- and on 4K no less! This film contains my favorite Diane Keaton performance -- which is saying a lot since I'm a huge fan -- plus peak Richard Gere. It also has one of the most disturbing endings ever put on-screen so, you know, that's fun. Anyway this hasn't gotten a release since VHS way back in the day -- the story was that the rights to the music in the film made a new release cost prohibitive, but it would appear they got that sorted out! Pre-order the disc right here -- they won't ship until sometime in December but do expect to use up your pateince waiting, VS tends to be kind of slow on that front. Especially when it comes to these big sales. I cannot believe we're finally going to get Richard Gere doing push-ups in a jockstrap in 4K!! Just think how much better this gif will be:

That's not all Vinegar Syndrome has of import this month, though -- they're also releasing Red Rooms, the Quebecois serial killer thriller that I reviewed at Fantasia Fest last year and which I just re-watched a week or so ago and loved even more with a second view. This movie is fantastic. And they're releasing Bent, the searing gay holocaust drama that stars Clive Owen and which features Clive & Nikolaj Coster-Waldau memorably going at it in its opening scenes...

Happy InDePlaidPants Day 2024!

It's time for that goofiest of MNPP-specific holidays -- every July 4th I post photos of dudes wearing plaid pants, because why not. WHY NOT??? Really though -- if any of you can come up with a good reason why I shouldn't do this ricidulous thing every year let's hear it; it'll save me gathering up these photos all year long. I welcome one less thing to worry about in this worry-full world!
But until that happens here we are, and here they be -- dudes wearing plaid pants. It's been so long since I've owned or wore a proper pair of plaid pants. That seems a shame. You'd think I'd capitalize on the site's name and brand myself like a proper "influencer" with a look (or is that "lewk") all my own so I could become a pop culture character and perhaps then pay my bills on time. LOL. Wouldn't that shock the world. Anyway, celebration! Hit the jump for the year in plaid pants photos...

Time to (Night) Watch Nikolaj Again!

This is unexpected but exciting news -- a sequel to the 1994 Danish classic horror flick Nightwatch is happening, with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau reprising the role that proved to be his big breakout. Well, sort of -- most people would say that it wasn't until Game of Thrones that he broke out and they'd technically be correct, but it was Nightwatch in my eyes because I saw it (and more specifically his jaw-dropping nude scene) and I paid attention to him from there on out! And then a couple of years later he played tongue-hockey with Clive Owen in Bent and I was fully lost. Anyway if you've never seen the original Nightwatch it's absolutely ace -- far better than the 1997 remake with Ewan McGregor.

This 30-year-later sequel is called Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever and is from the same director as the original, Ole Bornedal. And the sequel co-stars Bornedal's own daughter Fanny Leander Bornedal, who's playing Nikolaj's daughter and which sees her sucked into the same nightmare that plagued her pops three decades earlier. That said it's been awhile since I watched Nightwatch so I'll refrain from sharing more details, mainly because I don't want to read any more of the press release before re-watching the original myself. Thankfully both movies are dropping thanks to Shudder on May 17th. When we get a trailer I will share it but for now just enjoy looking at Nikolaj in 1994, truly a special-effect of a human being:

Hotties Be Crowning

I have been fairly terrible about posting movie news lately -- there's just so much else to be done! And by the time I post anything of this sort it's already been reported far wand wide and been discussed ad nauseum on social media to the point where people are already sick of it. Take for instance the news I am sharing right now -- it's a week old! It might as well be turned to dust at this point. And yet here we are and here I was sitting and it popped into my head and I thought to myself -- you know, if you write a post about that CBS series King and Conqueror that is going to star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and James Norton you will have an excuse to look up photos of those two. And so I did! And it was good. Anyway the show is from the guy who wrote the Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr. and Pompeii with Kit Harington looking like this...

Speaking of me taking this post's opportunity to just google random shit. Well I actually got that gif right off of MNPP, since we covered what Kit looked like in Pompeii rather extentislvey at the time. No need to google! MNPP's got the goods per usual. I am my own beefcake archive. Anyway! Back to the subject at hand -- see, why would you want to read news-stories from other sites who talk about the actual "news" and not ten million digressions? -- here is what this show is about:

"King and Conqueror is the story of a clash that defined the future of a country – and a continent – for a thousand years, the roots of which stretch back decades and extend out through a pair of interconnected family dynasties, struggling for power across two countries and a raging sea. Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy were two men destined to meet at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; two allies with no design on the British throne, who found themselves forced by circumstance and personal obsession into a war for possession of its crown."

James Norton will be Harold of Wessex while Nicky is William of Normandy. I mean, obviously. What, you thought Norton would be William of Normandy? Come on! (Sidenote: I know nothing about any of these historical figures except what you just read in the paragraph quotesd from Deadline.) Let's just hope that what they mean by "a war" is "sex" and what they mean by "for possession of its crown" is "with each other." Because we the people have earned that show. One out of one James Nortons agree!

God Morning, World

Like the caption says that there is a time-lapse video of Jonathan Tucker, eternal stud, getting his tatoos applied for his roles in Nick Cassavetes' film God is a Bullet, which hit theaters this past weekend. I have posted about this movie a lot because it stars, besides Tuck, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Karl Glusman, two long-time MNPP faves. (Also Maika Monroe and we like her too, albeit for different reasons.) So why if I have posted about this movie a million times have I not seen or reviewed this movie? Just busy-ness. There is no good story here. I didn't have the time. I didn't see Nick Cassavetes on the street and scream "NEPOBABY!!!" in his face and get banned or anything. Anyway I would still like to see it, and will probably when it hits streaming. And all of that said -- good morning! I'm running a little late this Monday due to subway issues so let's just jump in. By which I mean y'all hit the jump for a few bonus photos that Karl Glusman shared of his own make-up transformation in God is a Bullet...

Karl is a Devil and God is a Bullet

It took the release of the trailer for this to smack me upside the head and remember -- God is a Bullet, the next movie from director Nick Cassavetes that stars our boy Karl Glusman as a tatted-up satanic punk terrorizing a bountifully stached Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Maika Monroe, has been on my radar for awhile; ever since I first saw some photos from the set and tweeted them in a thread in July of 2021:

(click for more) Yes it's a lot of look, but Karl is making a meal out of it, right? He's good like that. Anyway I guess the movie is based on a true story (and based on a book) about a detective trying to figure out what happened to his daughter, who joined a cult -- Nikolaj is the detective while Monroe (who previously co-starred with Glusman in the fantastic thriller Watcher of course) is a woman who escaped from the cult; she goes along to help.

Anyway as I said we've got a trailer! Watch:

And yes Jamie Foxx and Jonathan Tucker are there too.
The movie is getting released on July 11th. Thoughts?
And I've got more pictures of Karl after the jump...

Good Morning, World

I wish Hollywood would make better use of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau dammit. He's a plenty good actor and he's a whole lot to look at -- I shouldn't have to watch so many prison and suicide dramas to get my Nicky fix. I guess I still haven't watched last year's The Silencing, a thriller a la Deliverance which saw him playing a woodsy hunter type (read: big beard) who gets caught up in a "deadly game of cat-and-mouse" -- did any of you see that? It's on Prime right now so I guess I should. This new-ish photoshoot that he did for Vogue Scandinavia has served as a good reminder. We love him! Hit the jump for all the hot stache-n-sweatpants action...

Good Morning, World

Maybe I should have saved this photo for Easter, but I'm feeling a stirring in my basket right now looking at that photo of sexy-rabbit Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Is this how people become Furries? Is this the gateway drug to Furrydom? Well cram some cotton up my tail and sign me up if hoppy lil' Nicky's the one waiting for me at the end of the bunny-trail. Wow, uhh, what a weird start to a Friday, right? Let's try to take things back to their standard nonsense levels; I'll share the rest of this otherwise far-less-fetishistic brand new photoshoot after the jump...

A Song of 4K Fire

.
I, like a lot of you, was pretty disappointed with the final season of A Game of Thrones. So much that I haven't really even been able to think about the show since it ended -- it's hurt too much. Too painful! But today's news that the entire series is being collected onto an ultra-suave 4K blu-ray set just in time for the holidays -- it's hitting shelves on November 3rd -- has, well, got me thinking about Game of Thrones again. I loved the show for most of the time! Almost all of it! It doesn't seem right to write it off entirely, not when there was so much to love over the years...

... you wouldn't know it by the pictures I'm providing but I even mean stuff besides Kit Harington taking his clothes off. There was Richard Madden taking his clothes off, Pedro Pascal taking his clothes off, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau taking his clothes off, Alfie Allen taking his clothes off, Jacob Anderson taking his clothes off, Michiel Huisman taking his clothes off...

... and now we can have all of these scenes in 4K? Sign me
the hell up! Hit the jump for the full press release...

Yes Exit

.
A few weeks back I shared with y'all the trailer for the Danish thriller called Exit Plan starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau here -- well that flick is out on VOD today, yes this very one! You can rent it at this link here! What a world, filled with magic.

But maybe first before you watch it you want to know what I thought about it, to help you decide? Or maybe after you watch it you'd like to know what I thought so you can call me stupid? Well gosh are you in luck, because my review of the film is right on over at AwardsWatch today. I'll wait to hear how stupid I am later.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Seven Times

.
Oh how did they know? How did they know that what I needed today, the exact thing, was seven photos of Nikolaj wearing pretty clothes being pretty? There's the obvious answer -- that's what I want every single day -- and there's the correct answer... which is that same thing. Anyway thank you to Haute Living magazine for this, that, and the other one. (via, thx Mac)

In related news Nicky's got a new movie hitting soon! It's called Exit Plan and it's from the Danish director of the 2014 arty girl-werewolf horror flick When Animals Dream -- did any of you see that? I did and I recall thinking it fascinating, but my memory's a bit vague at this exact juncture. Exit Plan has Nicky playing an insurance claims investigator who is sent to a secretive medical facility that's known for assisted suicides and dun dun dun scary shit happens. That said the most important thing is...

... Nicky rocks a big ol' mustache in it.
High stache alert! Here's the trailer:

It's sort of reminding me of that Gore Verbinski movie A Cure For Wellness, although hopefully it's less up-its-own-ass than Verbisnki's movie was. In all seriousness I do love a creepy remote medical facility horror movie -- it's a great sub-genre. Also this one appears to have a bunch of gorgeous Danish architecture plus Nicky soaking in a boy's-only hot-tub...

... (that's Robert Aramayo aka "Young Ned" on Game of Thrones that's soaking with him), so consider me in! Exit Plan hits streaming on June 12th (they're also saying it will play theaters but... yeah, let's not count on that). That business aside let's get back to that photo-shoot! See the rest after the jump...

Domino in 150 Words or Less

.
I know we're all tired of the "Define Camp" conversations by now -- we were all tired of them weeks ago, really -- but I usually only start finding things funny the second they have become absolutely exhausted beyond recognition (see also the crush I developed on Shia LaBeouf only in the past couple of years), which... well, is kind of Camp now that I think about it. Life is a flat circle and once we get around to the butt-end of it, almost back to where we started, is when I finally chuckle. The absurdity of finally giving in. Anyway my point is Carice Van Houten saving the day in Brian De Palma's new film Domino by drop-kicking in the gunt a terrorist waiting for the go signal from a drone during a bullfight before he blows everybody up with his soda-can bomb is the definition of Camp, full stop.

After Lannister

.
With all the hullaballoo surrounding the Game of Thrones finale the past few days -- and I think it tells you all you need to know that I haven't had much of anything to say on that after ten plus years of writing about the show! -- I missed this other Nikolaj Coster-Waldau content: his movie with Brian De Palma called Domino (which also stars his GoT co-star Carice van Houten) got a new clip! Watch:
.

.
(via) We also posted the trailer for the film back in April; it's had a seriously troubled production and De Palma's disavowed the movie but we don't even come to close to caring about all of that -- those two actors plus that director has got to turn out something worth seeing, even if only in spirts and fits. Domino supposedly hits both some theaters and VOD on May 31st.

Say Goodbye, Jon Snow

.
We started today with Nikolaj, it only seems right to book-end it with a little Kit -- as you have maybe heard the series finale of Game of Thrones is this weekend; Sunday night at 9pm to be precise. So if you've got a hair appointment you'd better reschedule! You already missed getting your hair did with Tom Hardy anyway so who cares about hair cuts anymore? It might be nice to grow out a luxurious Jon Snow mane though, in remembrance of things past. There's not much else to do this weekend -- I'm not on the John Wick train; I do want to see Tilda Swinton and her daughter in The Souvenir though -- so Game of Thrones will have to do, I guess!

Good Morning, World

.
Well this is the last Nikolaj Coster-Waldau picture post that I will ever post while Game of Thrones is on the air! That feels like a crazy sentence to write, given all the many Nicky picture posts I have posted over the past several years, but it's true! Unless HBO has been punking us all season and they make a surprise announcement that there will be another season of episodes coming up, which, well, I don't think a lot of us would complain given how rushed everything has been this year. Aaanyway I still hope they stick the landing on Sunday, even though I go into every episode having no idea how they can cram all they need to cram into it and then I have left every episode realizing, "Oh, they can't, they just pretend they did and then fill in the gaps in their after-show." But I have some hope alive, just like I have some more pictures after the jump...

Pic of the Day

.
Big thanks to Austin Nichols for sharing on his Instagram this behind-the-scenes picture of himself sandwiched by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Paul Bettany taken presumably during the shooting of their film Wimbledon in 2004 -- that is a sandwich to be. And it's got me revisiting this old post about them two blonds in the steam-room together... huh maybe I should re-watch Wimbledon?

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau One Time

.
Welp, how'd I miss this shot of Nicky in Man About Town magazine when I posted the other shots of Nicky in Man About Town magazine a couple of weeks back? This is the most important shot! Also it's reminiscent of that half-shirt photo of him we stumbled upon just a week before that, making me hope that half-shirts become Nicky's new thing. Do it, Nicky! Fashion is ours, yours and mine!
.

Is It Too Late...

.
... for me to put in my request for the
final two episodes of Game of Thrones?
.
