Enver Gjokaj Two Times

A happy 41st birthday to the Dollhouse, Agent Carter, and Agents of SHIELD actor and ridiculously under-used hot piece slash talent Enver Gjokaj, who just shared these "thirsty birthday gram"''s on his own Insta (thx to our pal AXfromMN on Twitter for the heads-up!)

Things to Do in Enver When You're Braindead

.
I tend to notice that our paragraphs here on the site get smaller, word-wise, when the world's especially shitty, so it shouldn't surprise anybody that this week's been a ten-word-at-a-time kinda experience. It's difficult to focus with things so lousy. I have about a dozen reviews I should be writing but I can barely manage with the dinosaur franchise for god's sake, which oughta be a wank - oh well. I'm just gonna go see Enver Gjokaj on stage tonight and try to gather some wits. Have a nice night, everybody. (pic via)

Good Morning, World

.
Here, why don't you enjoy this photograph of the actor Enver Gjokaj napping this past weekend (via) whilst I run to another Tribeca screening (my twenty-ninth! Yes, really!) this morning - I'll be back... for a brief bit... this afternoon... before running to two more screenings. It's gonna be that kind of week. Anyway I will link to everything properly and individually once I am here but if you'd like to see some of my reviews that went up over the weekend just head on over to The Film Experience. See y'all soon...

A happy 38th birthday to Enver Gjokaj, who's been criminally under-used in the years since he wowed on Dollhouse... or maybe it's my fault? Maybe I have just missed him - he has plenty of credits on IMDb but the only thing he was in that I watched was Agent Carter. Which he was also wonderful on! He should have his own show, is my point. And I should watch it. We should all watch it. And we should all follow him on Instagram

RIP Peggy & Friends

.
Wow I just realized I've gone all day without commenting on this news - not just not commenting on it but not THINKING about it! I read that Agent Carter got cancelled last night and basically immediately blocked out the horror of it until just this minute. The horror, the horror. The best thing Marvel's had anything to do with, period, is gone. Oh well I guess Marvel will just have to make their 100 million dollar Agent Carter movie now, right? Sigh.

Pics of the Day

.
If you're a fan of Agent Carter -- and if you're not a fan of Agent Carter, become a fan of Agent Carter already! God! -- then you should be following Eric Pearson, a writer for the show, on Twitter, because he posts tons of images from behind the scenes of the cast and crew goofing off... meaning there are lots of pictures of Dominic Cooper, James D'Arcy, and Enver Gjokaj goofing off, and who'd want to miss that?

Oh alright, Hayley Atwell, I love you too.
You can be included too, I guess.

And in most excellent news, word spread around the internet this weekend that though it hasn't been made official yet, ABC totally intends to renew the show for a third season! Hooray! Okay it's not official yet so we shouldn't let ourselves get too worked up -- (Hooray) -- until we actually hear from somebody that's not anonymous. But we were worried when word broke that Atwell was lining up other projects, so we really want this to be true. Make it happen!

Hold Me Closer, Tiny Enver

.
I didn't intend to write anything about Agent Carter today, but then I stumbled upon (ha, "stumbled upon") this picture of Enver Gjokaj and James D'Arcy wrapped up in each other like all get out and, well, here we be! So in the interest of not just being a pair of Tex Avery eyeballs I'll try to spit out a couple of words -- so, yeah, how great is Agent Carter right now? About as great as ever actually, which is saying a lot - it's easily my favorite Marvel property and its bad ratings are giving me agita. That musical number dream sequence this week was just magic, so what is wrong with you people? Watch this damn show!!!

Great Moments In Movie Shelves #57

.
I never watched any of the recent Lifetime TV series (two Lifetime posts in a row, that's certainly a record) Witches of East End, but I also didn't know that our Whedon-approved boyfriend Enver Gjokaj did a four-episode arc on the show's first season as a dude who works in a library and wears lots of wool sweaters and corduroy blazers either. If I had known oh how I would have talked up such a thing!

Alas he only lasted four episodes. See?

Uhh spoiler alert? Anyway bye bye, Enver. He got a good exit, at least! Did any of you actually watch the show? I believe it's since been canceled -- that's what you get for burning up Enver Gjokaj like that! Let's hope that Agent Carter doesn't go a similar route. (I am so worried about Agent Carter with the news that Hayley Atwell's got a new show lined up, you guys.)

Anyway today's Enver's 36th birthday - Happy Birthday! - so in his honor (really this is probably just a present to me and me alone, but whatever) after the jump is a collection of images of Enver standing in front of bookshelves on Witches of East End, which was what he did approximately 95% of the time he was on the show judging by my quick glance through...

Enver Keeps It Tight, Very Tight

.
So this is a few weeks old and I'm just now seeing it (which yes translates into "I suck" in a hundred different languages) but better late than never seeing Enver Gjokaj skin-tight black tights at all, know what I'm sayin? Apparently he filmed an online series called Hollywood Hitmen with some actor friends (including his pal Dichen Lachman from Dollhouse) about two actors who become hitmen, to hilarios effect; you can watch the first episode on YouTube, and read an interview with Enver & Friends about it over at EW. However the most important thing are of course the pictures from the set of Enver in his tights (via), which I am sharing right here. Hit the jump for several more...

I Am Link

.
--- Hot Boxed - Jake Gyllenhaal talked to People Magazine about his upcoming boxing movie Southpaw (see the hot trailer here and see the hot poster here) and says he's not eager to get ripped for another role, because damn he loves Twinkies, and all that white cream. Okay what he actually says is it's just a lot of effort, blah blah, I added the gay sex puns for my own personal enjoyment. I do what I can to make the days go by.

--- Box Office Magnolias - Over at The Film Experience Nat's taking a look back at the big hits of the 1980s that were led by actresses and noting how Hollywood's not showing any interest in remaking any of those films while the actor-centric hits are being remade left right and center. Tis a great point! As I mentioned in the comments Anna Faris was once upon a time supposed to remake Private Benjamin but that never happened and now she's been exiled to (a very successful and very lucrative career in) television.

--- Throw Me A Bone - I've been excited about the upcoming Cannibal Troglodyte Western starring Kurt Russell called Bone Tomahawk since Day One... hell well before Day One even, when it was supposed to co-star Timothy Olyphant and Peter Sarsgaard. Well the final product co-stars Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox, and Richard Jenkins and we've now got a poster and I dig it. No release date yet though.

--- Mama Jason - So it seems the original Friday the 13th movie came out 35 years ago tomorrow - over at The Dissolve Matt Barone wrote up a nice little tribute to the film and its long and bloody legacy. I wish I'd planned something but after reading Matt's piece it seems pointless, he gets her done.

--- Red Flagg - If you're curious why Tom Hardy had to drop out of the Suicide Squad movie at the last minute and have his role taken over by Joel Kinnaman (who was recently injured on set - that role is a curse!) here he is talking about it; it's exactly the reason that was theorized at the time - that his movie The Revenant with Alejandro González Iñárritu was running over time-wise. Hardy doesn't sound happy about it either, which should come as no shock to any of you that read the rumors about him and Iñárritu getting into fist-fights on the set. Ahhhh yes I like to think about Tom punching Alejandro -- I do I do I DO.

--- Feeling Groovy - I feel as if the terrific trailer for the Wahcowskis Netflix series called Sense8 got a little bit lost yesterday coming as it did mere seconds before the Vacation trailer with Chris Hemsworth's dildo heard round the world, and that's a shame, so here's more - at BuzzFeed they've got some more info on what the show's about and who's playing who and so forth. (thanks Mac) I am definitely into this show already, and I'll be binging it as soon as it drops on June 5th. So expect more!

--- Super Stars - I haven't decided yet if Daredevil beats Agent Carter as the most accomplished superhero television ever, full stop (I'm talking even beyond the Marvel connection), but they're both smashing successes if you ask me and I am so so thrilled to hear that Agent Carter's getting a second season. Hayley Atwell is SUCH a treasure. Enver Gjokaj and Dominic Cooper ain't too shabby either, although if I had to guess I'd guess that Dom might be scarce in a second season since he's got his own show now. Oh and Agents of SHIELD got renewed but I've found the last several episodes of that bore-me-to-tears boring and have only been watching out of a sense of obligation. Also, I'm sad the SHIELD spin-off didn't get picked up but just because I'd have loved for those characters to go away, they're the literal worst.

--- And Speaking of SHIELD as well as Dominic Cooper's new show Preacher, Ruth Negga - who is one of the bright lights on the former and has joined the cast of the latter - has just signed on to star opposite Joel Edgerton in the new movie from Jeff Nichols, director of the fantastic Take Shelter. The movie's called Loving and it's about that eponymous case that the Supreme Court heard regarding mixed-race marriage. Negga is gonna be big, methinks. In fact I like her enough that I'll even not edit out of one of the pictures of her with half-naked Dom, who she dates in real life, for a change...

Damn her.

Good Morning, Enver

.
Let me be very very very very clear about this: you do not want to watch the video contained in this post if you're not entirely caught up on A Game of Thrones, unless you know for a fact that you will never ever give a shit about A Game of Thrones, because it is stuffed to the gills with A Game of Thrones spoilers for the show up to the current point in time. But if you're caught up or you don't give a shit, and if you like staring at Enver Gjokaj's crotch for nearly four straight minutes...

... (seriously, I haven't seen a camera so intent on centering a man's crotch since Steve McQeen shot Shame) then you should go ahead and take all of this in. I don't know how I missed this video from last summer, wherein Enver and Avital Ash play a couple reacting to the ebb and tide of Thrones' sex-to-horror vibe, but it's something special. Hit the jump for it (with a few more gifs because duh)...

Do Dump or Marry - Carter's Agents

.
I was looking at this picture from tonight's finale of Agent Carter and I realized that the trio of (from left to right) James D'Arcy, Dominic Cooper, and Chad Michael Murray would make for a fine "Do Dump or Marry" trio, so have at it in the comments. Here, I'll make it easier:

Or is that harder? You can also see some more James D'arcy here, what matters most of Dominic Cooper at this link, and... well I've never liked CMM much so I've never posted pictures of him before, so here's a bonus shot of him:

(via) I actually think Chad's fine on Agent Carter; he could grow on me. Y'all are totally into Agent Carter right? I'd been enjoying it fine but over the course of the past couple of episodes I've realized I am really into it, and I'm going to be sad to see it go. Fingers crossed it gets more episodes down the line - Hayley Atwell's too wonderful in the leading role to only show up under old age make-up in Captain America movies. And then there's Enver...

... oh, Enver. If you'd like to sub Enver in for anyone in your "Do Dump or Marry" picks feel free. Like, have a three-way with him and Dominic Cooper, I don't care. In fact I'll watch, probably.

Which is Hotter?

.
Enver Gjokaj as Victor on Dollhouse
or as Daniel Sousa on Agent Carter?
.
.
A happy 35 to Enver today!

(pic via) We're so happy Enver's been steadily working ever since Dollhouse - he was easily the stand-out on that show - and we hope his roles, like his shower-buddy, just keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger, beyond all comprehension.

Good Morning, Marvel

.
Here's a little Brett Dalton in a towel to wake us up this morning - timely because 1) it's Brett's 32nd birthday today, and 2) the other Marvel TV show Agent Carter premiered just last night, putting into stark contrast with Agents of SHIELD just how you start off a superhero spin-off show with wit and charm instead of a dull thud.

Yes yes as our pal Joe Reid's argued, and I agree, SHIELD has risen from that thud and gotten much better; it's Agent Carter zoomed right out of the gate at full awesome speed. As I tweeted...

.
And that's a note I must end with a shot of Enver,
cuz crikey is he rocking that stylin' 40s look.

I See An Ant-Man & An Enver

.
Our first good look at Paul Rudd in his Ant-Man costume is here, via the cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly; the full trailer (as opposed to that teaser we saw last week) apparently debuts tonight during the first episode of Agent Carter, so I imagine we'll get a look at it in motion then (if the trailer doesn't leak early like the Avengers one did). What do we think of the costume? But speaking of Agent Carter...

... hey look it's out beloved Dollhouse alum Enver Gjokaj rocking some 40s flair on the set of the show! I'd totally forgotten he'd been cast on it, so this is exciting. (via, thanks Mac) Now if only we can find out he's been cast as Dominic Cooper's love interest all our world domination schemes will have come to fruition...

I Am Link

Before I dive into today's links let me admit that most of these are a day or two old; we're catching up after the long weekend, which was made longer by our unexpected travels. But these are important things not to be stepped over! And a huge debt of gratitude to MNPP great-pal Mac, who helped keep us up-to-date as we were away.

--- The Boys of Peggy - I still haven't seen like for real real confirmation that Dominic Cooper is going to be on the Captain America spin-off TV show Agent Carter, about Cap's past gal-pal Peggy's adventures creating SHIELD, but they do make mention of his name as if it's a given in this article at Variety telling us that a pair of lookers besides Dom are hopping aboard the show - first off there's Chad Michael Murray, who I've never felt right about lusting for really so I hope this gives me the chance to right that because the last time I saw him, super grunged up, he was really doing it for me like never before. And secondly there is our beloved Dollhouse alum Enver Gjokaj, which is awesome awesome awesome news, but I wonder if they'll ever tilt their hat towards the fact that Enver already played a character (granted a tiny one) in the Marvel Universe - he was NYPD in The Avengers.

--- Sex Worker - I haven't read this yet and I haven't watched this week's episode of Masters of Sex so if you have anything to say about either - DON'T - but here's a big interview with our girlfriend Lizzy Caplan in Rolling Stone. I'm just hoping they address the fact that she should scratch Amy Adams' eyes out and take her rightful role of Lois Lane.

--- Thick Like Hunnam - I wish my dick were the right dick but apparently Charlie Hunnam is sucking all the right dicks (not mine) because damn he is getting all of the parts these days. I guess passing on that porn movie made folks sit up and take notice of what I've been saying for years upon years. He's apparently up for the lead in the remake of Escape From New York, meaning we might get to see him tattooed and leathered up again even with his Sons of Anarchy show ending. That one's just a rumor for now - this other news is confirmed: he's going to play King Arthur for Guy Ritchie. Charlie's Pacific Rim co-star Idris Elba has already been cast as Arthur's mentor, and yes, once again cue thoughts again of Excalibur's armor fucking scene. Anyway I thought he was fine playing a stoic every-dude in Rim but I know I'm in the minority opinion... and I will admit he looks a little more limp in the wake of Chris Pratt's charms.

--- Rated LVT - Lars Von Trier's next project is apparently going to be a television show (in English) called The House That Jack Built, which he says will be "without precedent" but he always says that kind of thing. We have no idea what he means by that, or what it will be. But The Kingdom is so good I'm there already.

--- Buncha Cocksuckers - I was going to wait until next year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of my beloved Muriel's Wedding because it was released in the US in March of 1995, but it came out in its homeland of Australia in September 1994 and so perhaps I should think about doing something sooner, since Aussie websites are already taking the bait - here's TimeOut Sydney on Muriel's 20th, as well as the 20th of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, which apparently came out at pretty much the exact same time. The quotes from Daniel Lapaine about getting in shape for the movie are key. (thanks Glenn)

--- Gods Made Men - Like that Lizzy Caplan article above I haven't read this interview with Hannibal's Bryan Fuller all the way through just yet either, but apparently he talks a bunch about his future adaptation of American Gods with Neil Gaiman and what it'll have in common with Game of Thrones. I imagine the answer is not "lots of rape," but who knows.

--- Hail To The Thom - Radiohead is set to start working on their new album, they say, anytime now, which makes the news of an update to their Polyfauna app kind of exciting - I haven't gotten the chance to listen to the new sounds or see the new visuals, but I think you can guess I'm keen to do so.

--- Join The Borg - This would get a lot more love if it was Fran Kranz wearing the little red speedo and climbing into the ice bath, but this "YouTube star Flula Borg" (which is apparently a thing) looks damned fine himself in a little red speedo and Fran is there staring at him so it'll do for a mention, at least. Climb in with him, Fran!!!

--- Longbottom Bared - But I will post this video of Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis doing the Ice Bucket Challenge, even if we're clearly all Ice-Bucket-Challenged out at this point, because come on, I had to. (You should also check out the Daniel Craig one since he mentions his nipples.)

Gratuitous Teddy Sears

.
Lizzy Caplan, Beau Bridges and Allison Janney might get all the Emmy love, and Michael Sheen might get all the articles written about how he deserved some of the Emmy love too, but it need not be forgotten that these folks are surrounded wall to wall with terrific performances... and the most surprisingly great work might just be coming from Teddy Sears. I was thinking about this while watching this week's episode last night, which gave him a little bit of a showcase and didn't even require him to take his clothes off for it this time.

Okay he ran around in a well-fit pair of pajamas for a bit, that I appreciated, but besides that he got to show us all sorts of shades to his caddish Dr. Austin Langham that he hadn't quite gotten to show us yet, and frankly Teddy is nailing the heck out of it. His scene with Sheen smoking that cigar was funny, sly, and terribly sad all at once. I love spending time with all of the characters on Masters of Sex, so it says a lot that I always look forward to Teddy's scenes, and it says even more that I'm talking about one right now that didn't even involve him having an orgasm for a change. Good work, Teddy!

As you'll see below, Teddy's six-feet-three-inches has been exploited to its fullest for years on shows like Ugly Betty and Dollhouse and American Horror Story, so it's nice (albeit kinda galling) to know he's actually talented while also looking like he looks. Gives us reasons to keep staring, ya know. Okay hit the jump for lots more, y'all.

10 Off My Head - Joss' Birthday Beefcake

.
It should probably have been a national holiday - writer/director/puny-god Joss Whedon is turning 50 today! Don't feel bad for him that it wasn't a national holiday though, since he's off filming the second Avengers movie and Chris Hemsworth is probably popping out of a cake for him (speaking of beef cake - ha ha get it?) while Chris Evans and Aaron Johnson hold him down and tickle him... (yes my image of the Avengers set is akin to a teenage boy's fantasy of a girl's slumber party; what of it?). But seriously speaking of beefcake Joss has given us so much to appreciate over the years. It seems to have gone hand in hand with his feminist notions of turning a little blond girl nobody was taking seriously into an indestructible powerhouse - he's never had any trouble with turning the male gaze back upon itself, with sexy results. Here are ten of my favorite instances of it off the top of my head from just his television work! See all ten after the jump!

Today's Fanboy Delusion

Today I'd rather be...

...giving Enver something to think about.

Happy 34, Enver!
.
