My first Tribeca 2023 review's gone live! Head on over to Pajiba to read my thoughts on Perpetrator, the new horror flick from director Jennifer Reeder that stars Alicia Silverstone and Chris Lowell, among others. You might recall me being a fan of Reeder's 2019 flick Knives and Skin -- here's my review of that -- well this one's more of the same delicious weirdness! I can't say that Reeder's movies will be for everybody -- they're arch and experimental and never work the way you expect them to -- but if you can get onto her wavelength I don't think these movies will leave your brain any time soon. Anyway if you're in NYC Perpetrator is screening two more times -- check Tribeca's website for tickets! Otherwise the movie hits Shudder on September 1st. (Just in time for back to school, which is terribly appropriate.)

Good Morning, World
We've posted plenty off of actor Chris Lowell's Instagram before, because the boy loves to photograph himself (and his partner Kerry Bishé - so killer on Halt and Catch Fire - although we always edit her out) in the altogether. I think they spend more time in their altogether than in their less-than-altogether, and I suppose if I looked so good that way I would as well. Anyway it's very kind of him to share it with the rest of us, is my point. Thank you, Chris!

Technically This Post is About Downton Abbey...
I wasn't sure which Downton Abbey actor I would use a photo of to grab your eyeballs with to direct you over to my review of the new Downton Abbey movie which just went up at Pajiba, read it here. Whenever Downton comes up I usually always vacillate between Allen Leech and his bulging trousers and the porcelain-pretty homosexual-footman Rob James-Collier, who once stuck his tongue in Charlie Cox's mouth to my everlasting pleasure. But then I saw the above photo of Hugh Dancy in plaid pants (okay it's houndstooth, whatever, close enough) and it was game set match even though Hugh's only just now become a Downton boy with the new movie, which has him playing a Silent Film Director who comes to Downton and bats his pretty eyelashes at Lady Mary. Doesn't it seem though like Hugh Dancy should have been on Downton Abbey ages and ages ago? How is this just now happening? Anyway the important thing is it happened. Now go read my review. But wait, I have more...
... I don't know where the hell my head has been but I had no idea that Hugh was in a TV series with former-Piz Chris Lowell! Did you? There is too much damned TV. The show is called Roar and it is on Apple+ and it's actually an anthology series, so Hugh & Chris are only in one episode (it's the sixth episode). They star in that episode alongside Alison Brie, which is of note because the series is from the creators of GLOW, which of course starred Brie & Lowell previously. (Oh man I miss GLOW so fucking much, you guys.)
Lowell, a terrific photographer whose work I've posted before here on the site, posted these snaps of Hugh on his own Instagram -- I love the thought of him putting his hand to Hugh's face and turning it into the light just right, don't you? Like that scene in Clueless with Brittany Murphy holding the rose. Well these are the places my brain automatically goes anyway.
And since we are here and I'm looking at Chris's Instagram and I'm seeing all of the sexy self-portraits that he's posted over the past few months that I have missed, well, that obviously cannot stand. So I'm gonna post those too, right on after the jump...

Oh Lowell If Only
If I am going to "use" Chris Lowell I wish it could be in a more exciting way than this, but today I am "using" Chris Lowell -- or this photo of himself that he posted on his Instagram, anyway -- to update your lucky asses on my tech woes, which I mentioned briefly yesterday. Update: I don't really have much of an update except everything's exactly the same! But that in itself is a thing because I can't really post much until this is sorted out, and since it ain't, I ain't. I'd say today is a wash basically, because I don't see this sorting itself out in the next four hours, and mentally... I am spent. Fucking, farking spent. Just gonna go stare at shit and wish the clock quicker. Have a good weekend, everybody.

Good Morning, World
Does Veronica Mars and GLOW (and Promising Young Woman!) actor Chris Lowell have the single best celebrity Instagram account? I honestly think he might. He's a genuinely talented photographer, and he uses his power for good -- mostly taking hella sexy photographs of himself and his hot friends, including his hot partner Kerry Bishé (Halt and Catch Fire hive holla). It doesn't make up for the fact that GLOW isn't coming back for another season -- nothing ever would -- but at least it distracts me from being sad about that whenever I see him. He's a good boy.

Pic of the Day
.
Bounteous gratitude to the actor Chris Lowell (aka Forever Piz) for sharing this photo of himself on the set of the fourth and final season of GLOW, aka the best show on Netflix. Wait is it? I said that without really giving it much thought. What do you think the best show on Netflix is? it's either this or Mindhunter? Am I forgetting something? Anyway thanks for the photo, Chris. I can't wait to see what they do with his character Bash this time around -- his arc's been so unexpected and complicated, never an easy read which is deeply appreciated. He's not a victim, he's often an asshole, but the show keeps its eyes on what's driving him at every turn. More queer characters like this please!

Promising Young Actress
.
I liked Marriage Story very much (read my review-ish thing from yesterday if you don't believe me) but I've also spent the past few weeks thinking about how I liked Paul Dano's 2018 parental split film Wildlife starring Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal more, and so Carey's been on my brain a lot. I mean "more" of a lot, since she's never far, given how fucking amazing she's been time and time and time again. Anyway this trailer for her new movie called Promising Young Woman really couldn't have shown up at a more apt time, is my point...
... but it still goes the extra mile just looking all sorts of amazing on its own. Written and directed by Killing Eve and The Crown writer Emerald Fennell, and co-starring an absolutely killer bunch of folks -- Molly Shannon! Allison Brie! Chris Lowell! Max Greenfield! Adam Brody! Bo Burnham! Christopher Mintz-Plasse! Alfred Molina! Jennifer Coolidge! Connie Britton! Clancy fucking Brown! -- the movie's has Carey's character getting revenge on all the douche-bros, one douche-bro at a time. Did I mention Chris Lowell?
I know I did, I just really love me some Piz. But he makes the perfect douche-bro, as do all those fellas I mentioned above. But actors aside visually it looks terrific, very Killing Eve with lots of outlandish feminine clothing being weaponized -- the Sexy Nurse's outfit is great and I might have to do a side-by-side With Daryl Hannah in Kill Bill when this sucker comes out. Here's the trailer:

Lewis Tan One Time
.
There's an interview and a couple more photos of Lewis Tan over at Flaunt magazine today -- his new series (following the recent Into the Badlands, which was where he first caught my eye) called Wu Assassins hit Netflix this past week; did any of you watch any of it? I'm plowing through my beloved GLOW at the moment (I'm halfway through the finale!) so I haven't had time for anybody but Bash & The Gals just yet. Oh Bash. I mean as long as we're here and his name has come up we might as well look at him too for a sec...

Who Wore It Best?
.
This isn't the fairest contest since Chris Lowell (who is turning 34 today) is seen here styled really beautifully for a photo-shoot (I really covet that wooly lumberjack shirt he's wearing) while Max Irons (who is turning 33 today) was styled kind of poorly (that is a terrible mustache) for a TV mini-series called Tutankhamun in these photos of him, but you work with what ya got. And so I ask you...

Good Morning, World
.
A very happy 39th birthday to Brandon Routh today - I just caught most of Superman Returns on TV the other day and tweeted about how good he was in the role and what a shame it is that he didn't get to play the role again; the film itself is admittedly not perfect (Kate Bosworth is not a great Lois and the big battle is against a rock) but he's great and there are lots of great and interesting scenes and story-beats. Anyway these photos are from his single episode stint on the single-season sex-fest that was Enlisted - I guess him and Chris Lowell had a rivalry? A sexy rivalry. A sexy rivalry with sexy results.

Good Morning, Bash
.
This weekend was the perfect kind of weekend to barricade yourself in a small air-conditioned space and pretend the world isn't about to end and your host did just that - although I mostly watched movies I did manage to watch all but the finale of G.L.O.W.'s second season - anybody else? We got some really great stuff with Bash (Chris Lowell) this year and I'm not going to dive into it lest I spoil anybody but y'all want to talk it (save whatever happens in the final episode!) feel free to hit the comments! I also feel as if I should take this opportunity to tell y'all this is a two-day work-week for me, so enjoy me while ya got me and what ya got me for is today and tomorrow.

Good Morning, World
.
Former Veronica Mars star Chris Lowell (that's where we fell for him) is turning 33 today and we're anxiously awaiting the second season of GLOW, which will hopefully feature some more of his ribald money-man Bash. Here's a thing I didn't know - he's been in a relationship with Halt and Catch Fire's magnificent Kerry Bishé for several years now! They both have great taste in partners. Anyway I think I say this every time he comes up but you should follow Chris on Instagram if you don't - he's an excellent photographer.

Good Morning, World
.
A couple of weeks ago when I last posted (last and first posted) about Chris Lowell's butt on Graves I asked y'all if you had ever heard of the show - none of you answered me so I am taking that as a firm no. And while we're on the subject of firm...
... I am firmly considering watching this show now. It's got a pretty stellar cast besides Chris Lowell's Stellar Rear - it stars Nick Nolte, Sela Ward, Ernie Hudson, and some other folks of note. Then again it is about politicians and I am kind of burned out, politically speaking. But you know what makes politics slide down easier? Butts. That's whats. Hit the jump for more...

Good Morning, World
.
I wish I could sleep into 12 like Chris Lowell is seen doing here in this scene from the TV show Graves - speaking of Graves I have literally never heard of this show until they let Chris Lowell flash his butt on it (see below) so this was time and money and footage well spent, Graves. Have any of you heard of it? Do any of you watch it? Are you just waiting for me to shut up and get to the butt already? Fine...
Even if I don't know the show I am glad to see Chris Lowell's still around -- I loved him on Veronica Mars (PIZ!!!) and he's tremendously appealing. He's also, in case you don't know this, a fantastic photographer -- you can see a lot of his work on his Instagram, or over here on his official site. We've previously posted some of the gratuitous pictures of himself that he every so often posts but even beyond that, which we are thankful for for sure, his photography is very strong. Good work, hot actor!

Good Morning, Gratuitous Chris Lowell II
.
I wasn't sure what picture to begin this post with - Chris Lowell's been very kind & giving over the past year or so with this sort of thing, as you'll see - but I figure you can't go wrong with Chris and SNL's Beck Bennett in their underwear holding hands. They're apparently good friends, which for some reason seems nice to me, the idea of them hanging out, it seems nice. They seem friendly.
Friendly. Anyway yes we have done a Gratuitous Chris Lowell Part One before, way way back in the day (the day = 2007) when Veronica Mars was still on the air. That was before we really knew what we were doing; it's a scant post, that. Not this one though!
Lowell's a photographer (you can see a lot on his Instagram) and while I'm not 100% that every shot you'll see here is him, they all seem to be. The asses match. Maybe he's got lots of friends with similar asses, I don't know, it could be how he chooses his friends - seems as good a stick as any.
(Better even.) The real reason I'm posting on Chris today though is I saw him in a play this past weekend! It's called Jacuzzi and if you're in NYC you've only got ten more days until it closes and I actually really liked it, so I say you should try to score a ticket.
And yes okay Chris spends a good portion of the show half-naked in a jacuzzi, it's true. His co-star Chris Thureen, as the creepy ginger-bearded mountain man, he ain't too shabby either.
And there's lots of tension, sexual and otherwise, hanging in the humid air. It's actually riffing on horror movies some, which I didn't know going in, so how could it go wrong with me? Besides the nakedness and the genre-stuff I actually thought everybody was terrific, and it's worth seeing on its own dramatic merits. Plus...
... ya know, the other stuff. Here's a link to the trailer for the show. OK back to Chris - hit the jump to see the rest of the pictures...

Do Dump Marry - Instagram Brahs
.
I've felt all week as if I just had to do something with this picture that Geoff Stults (far right) instagrammed of himself and his brother George (in the middle) with one-time Survivor contesant Silas Gaither. It's a fleshy furry beardapalooza right up my alley after all. I only started following the Stults bros because that show Enlisted that Geoff was on with Parker Young and Chris Lowell, which turned out to be a delightful flesh-fest (see here and here and here) for all involved. I mean look he's still posting pictures like this...
... even though it's been long cancelled. Bless that show. Brother George is no slouch either - look at these old shots of himself and his brother he posted...
But as you can tell this whole exquisite ordeal bounces around so much between hot piece to hot piece I can't quite stay focused for five seconds even, which has kept this post from fruition until now. Hey look Chris Lowell posted a naked picture of himself too!
It's like some sort of crazy gratuitous competition between these guys. And yes, we all win. So anyway to bring some kind of focus to this scattered smorgasbord of sexy selfies I figure we can do a Do Dump or Marry for that very first picture up top.
Yes, this one. Our threesome are left to right - Silas from Survivor, and then the brothers Geoff and George Stults. Tell us in the comments who gets your Do, your Dump, and your Marry. And if you want to see more pics of the boys being boy-men, hit the jump...

I Am Link
.
--- Byrne On Fire - Looks like I am definitely going to see Neighbors this weekend; they'd prodded me with enough Zac Efron beefcake into curiostiy, but now that we've got word that Rose Byrne's part is much more than just "Wife Way Too Pretty For Schlumpy Funny Guy" and she's got stuff to do, well sign me up, I love Rose Byrne. Says The Playlist:
--- Half Mast - Well damn, so much sexiness just got tossed down the drain - FOX canceled both Enlisted, which starred Geoff Stults and Parker Young and Chris Lowell as military brothers and got them all instagramming themselves as we documented here, and Chris Meloni's new show Surviving Jack, which we've also documented the gratuity from. All four of you guys just come over, I'll get you drunk and ease your pain, I promise.
--- Heart Broken - The best thing about this oh let's just say misguided piece on the upcoming adaptation of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart (misguided is being so so nice on my part) is actually all of the comments - this is not how things usually work! Usually the comments sections of big websites read like troll central! But the article itself is the trolling here, and the comments take that shit to task, and spectacularly.
.
--- Blood Red Shoes - Vera Farmiga is going to star in the ballet dark-comedy Prima, as a mother "who will stop at nothing to realize her daughter's ballet dancing dream;" she'll be starring opposite her Orphan
co-star Peter Sarsgaard as the daughter's "devil in dance shoes"
instructor. And on top of all that the choreography will be from Mr.
Natalie Portman, that hot piece Benjamin Millepied. I hope Ben's in it, and reenacts this part from The Black Swan, only with Peter as his crotch-groper. That's what I hope. By the way I am sort of addicted to ballet in real life now - that shit is tons of fun! And those dancer's bodies - my goodness
--- Lick It Up Baby - As I said in my last post today where I celebrated the Dead Gay Sons in Heathers, I am going to see the off-Broadway musical in a couple of weeks, so this conversation here with the dudes who turned the movie into songs (thanks Mac) is pretty much perfect reading for today.
--- Tree Stand - The last time I mentioned A Monster Calls, the upcoming horror flick from the director of The Orphanage and the writer of the great Chaos Walking books, I mentioned that Liam Neeson was rumored to star as the, well, I guess the monster. Now we have confirmation.
Felicity Jones is playing the mother of the kid who's the main
character who meets the monster, which is in the form of a tree in his
backyard. I am guessing Liam will be doing voice-work then, and not
wearing this (although that would be soooo awesome).
.
.
--- Sweet On Honey - We finally have some new information on Andrea Arnold's next movie (her last being the lovely Wuthering Heights) - we already knew it was going to be her first US-based film and was going to be about a teenage girl going to work for a magazine and getting sidetracked with party-time; now we have a title, American Honey (better than the rumored one of Mag Crew) and the news that Arnold will be shooting it this Summer, and casting's underway now. I'm guessing she'll be hiring unknowns since that's how she usually rolls, and to great effect too. (Speaking of, where the hell are all of Katie Jarvis' jobs dammit?)
"She has proven herself to be a fearless comedic performer, one who is absolutely awe-inspiring in this movie. Rose Byrne is second banana no more."
--- Un Wrapped - Andy Muschietti, the director of the surprise success horror flick Mama (which had its moments but was ultimately only okay, says me), has dropped off of a reboot of The Mummy
after clashing with the folks at Universal. He wanted to make something
dark, they wanted something light, wake me up when we aren't hearing
this story for the thousandth time. I'll be over here with mark Romanek
imagining his Wolfman movie.
