Ooh batten down your hatches -- we're gonna have a new Jamie Dornan photoshoot! Okay yes all we have right now is the cover and I shouldn't jump the gun, but it was a rare Insta-bright-spot in a sad Insta-morning (did you see SMG's post about Michelle Trachtenberg? Broken hearted. Not to mention all of the Gene Hackman tributes rolling in. Good grief.) I daren't hope this shoot when revealed in full could be as good as his Arena Homme shoot last year but that image above is promising anyway. It reminds me of a bit that Sandra Bernhard had in one of her comedy specials where she made a joke about an album cover for Heart where one of them had "one eye obscured by a peacock feather." And I like that.

Makin Like Dornan

Just as in these new photos of Jamie Dornan here at the beach I find myself with a sudden holiday before me -- mine isn't quite so liberating though cuz my office is taking a half day because everybody got COVID and shit. I have myself so far tested negative, fingers crossed. Anyway along with our scheduled Summer Fridays this means when I leave in about half an hour I'm all of a sudden gone til Monday. I know! How half-assed of me! That said I will be doing plenty of work over the next four days -- although I'm back from Montreal I'm still consuming Fantasia Fest movies + prepping reviews and you'll surely see some of that soon. Is it possible that that is a photo from Jamie Dornan's offensively erotic 2014 photoshoot for Interview Magazine that I haven't seen before? Glancing back at my original post -- and P.S. this shoot is celebrating its 10 year anniversary in two weeks! -- there's no sight of the above photo anywhere. But that photo is most certainly of the same time and from the same shoot by the photographers Marcus Piggott and Mert Alas. Nor is it that one included in my follow-up post that shared a few more a couple weeks after the first. Okay -- and now that I'm digging I found a couple more that are 100% new to my eyes! What a perfect and pleasant and unexpected Friday surprise! And so soon after his world-class shoot for Arena Homme too. I don't know why I'd convinced myself last week that Arena Homme+ magazine would stop dropping epic new Jamie Dornan photos after one week of it -- I guess one just doesn't want to seem greedy (editor's note: I have never had an issue with seeming greedy) and also usually the magazine gets around to, you know, posting the whole thing at some point. But if they want to drop new Jamie Dornan photos from this photoshoot on me every day for months, years, until the sun explodes, I'm good with that. We'll keep dutifully posting them. (via)

After it all I'm actually extremely happy that the photographers of this Jamie Dornan shoot allowed Jamie to finish me off -- excuse me, allowed the photoshoot of Jamie to finish the week off. It's been an all-week-long affair, one Jamie pilping on top- of another Jamie on top of another Jamie... mmm I like that visual. Anyway see what we have to date at this link -- as promised once I am sure it's everything I'll do a complete single one-stop post, but I am not sure of that yet. So enjoy these two new ones and good morning. It's Friday! I really wasn't sure I was gonna make it this week. Thank goodness for Jamie and his little white shorts and fluffy hair. I have officially resigned myself to the fact that the photographers of this Jamie Dornan photoshoot for Arena Homme+ that I have been sharing piecemeal all week (see here and my god see here) are just going to keep doing just that -- releasing it piecemeal, one (or in the case of today, two) photo(s) per day. I have made my peace with the piecemeal! Of course we know what that means -- they won't release any tomorrow. I have jinxed us. Or maybe we will finally get the entire shoot? Who know, the world is in chaos. So let's just enjoy Jamie and his beard and his curls and when offered his calves (my god, his calves) and just take these moments and be with them. Okay apparently Arena Homme+ magazine is going to edge us with their new Jamie Dornan photoshoot as hard as they can -- they dropped that cover snap of his calves (my god, his calves) yesterday and today comes one more shot, the above shot (via), and... I may not surivive this photoshoot. He is giving me SUCH flashbacks to the straight soccer boy I had a massive crush in college on who sauntered around the dorm coming from the showers with his towel hanging so low I'd lose an entire day after seeing him. My friends would find my wandering the quad in a daze, muttering "adonis belt... adonis belt..." Oh, memories...

No sooner had I posted this morning's "Good Morning, World" post below where I said I was running to a doctor's appointment than did a wonderful reader on Twitter share this photo of Jamie Dornan for Arena Homme magazine with me -- my doctor can wait! I have to post that shit stat. Have a Very Dornan Weekend

No, Jamie doesn't have anything new out this weekend, unfortunately. But it is his 40th birthday on Sunday and we wish him the best, and we should all watch something of his to celebrate. Once upon a time I'd say you should just watch that scene where he flashes a wee bit of shaft (a shaft bit of wee?) in whatever Fifty Shades movie that was, but our laddy's gone and turned out several actually good movies now -- two of them in the past year alone! -- so maybe just watch Barb and Star and enjoy your damn life. (And you can always have those shaft gifs on your phone during it -- the optimal two-screen experience right there!) I personally have been meaning to watch his limited series The Tourist on HBO Max so maybe this is a good time to start that -- have any of you watched it yet? His beard is hella enticing. I don't know what the show's about at all... but the beard! Anyway happy birthday to Jamie and happy weekend to you all -- these photos by the way were taken a couple of weeks ago in L.A. and there are more over here. Bye now!

Jamie Dornan Is Thirsty

Our pal Kyle Buchanan went and chatted with Jamie Dornan for the New York Times today, you can check it out here -- it's mostly all about Kenneth Branagh's perfectly lovely little film Belfast, which is out in theaters now (I reviewed it here) and which is angling for some, you know, awards. Kyle always does a good job with these things but I don't know how he even kept going after Dornan, literally thirsty for a drink of water, said "he considered making out with me 'just for the fluids.'" That's the sort of thing you get engraved on your tombstone, Kyle! I also enjoyed this passage:

"Dornan knows that because of “Fifty Shades,” his most ardent fans are women and gay men; when straight guys ask for his picture, he can still sense their skepticism. “They’re always like, ‘It’s obviously not for me, I’m a straight guy, and I have a wife’ or ‘I have a girlfriend, and she likes you, that’s why the photograph’s happening,’” he said. “What have I done, three war movies? You’d think that might help my cause out a little bit with straight men, but probably not. I think you need to be in that comic-book world to really grab their attention.”"

Straight men are so ridiculous. Dornan also talks some about his early modeling career, and whenever he does that it makes me flash back to an earlier iteration of my own day-job where I dealt with models a lot where I actually met Jamie on a casting call! Looking back I don't know how I knew who he was then though? It was probably after he did his eensy role in Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette but was that really enough that I knew his name?
