Another day, another magazine I have never heard of offering up sexy photographs of an actor I have very much heard of -- in this case it's French stud François Civil for something called Dedicate magazine, and we have François' Instagram to thank for directing us toward these. They say social-media's killed our brains but durrrr he sho is purdy and stuff. Anyway these photos aren't quite as hot as the last photoshoot of Mr. Civil we saw (see those stunners here) but it's still a good one and you should definitely hit the jump for it...

François Civil Five Times
French actor François Civil is looking hotter than blazes on the cover of the French edition of GQ's "Men of the Year" issue -- if you can read French click here for the interview and tell me anything of interest he might say. He's not only one of their "Men of the Year" because he has aged up into such spectacular manly perfection -- although that clearly don't hurt -- but he's had his biggest career year ever, with the starring role of D'Artagnan in the new series of Three Musketeers movies that I've talked about previously due to the incredible volume of gallic heat contained within their cast. I wish these movies would get released here in the U.S. already! Until then we'll make have to due with these photos -- hit the jump for the rest...

Do Dump or Marry: La Flamme Bunch
This month's issue of GQ France has three hot young things on it (via) but I'll be honest -- I only know two. Above on the left is Pierre Niney, and we know him -- we have had a crush on his insanely gallic super-features ever since Francios Ozon's 2016 film Frantz. He even has a tag here on this site! And then in the middle os the above photo is actor François Civil, and he might not have a tag yet here on MNPP but we've posted about him enough he probably should -- I think the first time I noticed him would have been either in 2014's Frank opposite Michael Fassbender or the (kind of terrific) found-footage horror flick As Above So Below that same year.
So the person I am unfamiliar with on the GQ cover is the dude on the right -- his name is Jonathan Cohen and he has the most credits of the three, but I don't think many of them have made their way out of France? The only movie's he's done that I have seen is White as Snow, the fairy-tale riff that had Isabelle Huppert playing a variation on the Evil Queen, but 1) that movie wasn't great and 2) Angela Bassett was sitting a couple seats away from me at the Tribeca screening where I saw it and I ended up paying more attention to her than I did the movie. Sorry, Mr. Jonathan Cohen!
I don't have access to the GQ interview with these three as to why they're being photographed together, but the blurb alongside where I got these photos says they are longtime friends, and their IMDb pages tell me they have also all worked on a French TV series called La Flamme, which appears to be a satirical take on The Bachelor; indeed Cohen himself appears to be the lead of that series. Any of my French readers have more information? Until then it's been awhile since I did a "Do Dump or Marry" post -- where I ask y'all to pick one person to "Do" (have one night of sex with), "Dump" (like how it sounds), and "Marry" (live with forever and ever, amen) -- and hey it's three people! That makes it easy! So tell me in the comments your answer...

Good Morning, World
.
I never got around to writing up my thoughts on several films I saw screened at FLC's "Rendezvous With French Cinema" series at the start of this month -- hey remember three weeks ago? -- because, well, you know, other things started taking over our minds at that point, and it got hard to write. It remains hard to write, as the site over the past two weeks of scarce content attests. Anyway one of the films I never got around to reviewing was Cédric Klapisch's romantic drama Someone, Somewhere starring your boy François Civil seen here. Civil was in two films at Rendezvous; I talked about the other one in my intro to this year's slate right here. (And you can see lots more of him in this great big gratuitous post I did last year, too.) The film's not out here in the US (not sure when or if that will happen) but I do believe it's streaming across the pond, so to those readers I say, it's a nice movie. Sweet, thoughtful and romantic. You could do worse for distracting yourselves for a couple hours from the world around... well, the world. Hit the jump for more gifs...

7 Off My Head: France In My Pants
.
First and foremost everybody say hello to the actor Thimotée Robart -- another Thimotée, who knew? Anyway while I don't particularly consider myself a Francophile -- I don't speak French, and I don't really have much desire to visit France, except maybe their portion of the Alps -- I always question that stance when this time of year comes around. This time of year is when FLC here in New York announces their annual "Rendez-vous with French Cinema" series -- which will run from March 5th to March 15th this year -- and I inevitably find myself wanting to see a dozen at least of the titles they're premiering. You can see 2020's entire line-up at this link, including New Thimotée's movie which looks interesting and is called Burning Ghost. Below I'm going to share several I'm personally jonesing for.
(dir. Christophe Honoré)
I literally just posted about my love for Honoré's previous film, the gay love story Sorry Angel with Vincent Lacoste, so it shouldn't be surprising that I'm fairly psyched to see Honoré's new film, which also stars Lacoste. I've even posted about this one before!
(dir. Alice Winocour)
Winocour's last film was the marvelous Disorder with Matthias Schoenaerts (my review) -- already I'm sold on the strength of that. But this movie stars my beloved Eva Green! Eva Green, so brutally under-appreciated, playing an astronaut! Eva in Space! Bring it on!
(dir. Safy Nebbou / Hirokazu Kore-eda)
A Juliette Binoche double-feature! The Truth is the opening night movie and is from Shoplifters director Kore-eda -- I didn't love that movie quite as much as most people did (I love me some melodrama, but that movie was a little soppy for me) but with a cast that also includes Catherine Deneuve and Ethan Hawke and Ludivine Sagnier I'm curious.
I'm admittedly a little more curious about Binoche's other movie at the fest (and PS she'll be there for both of these movies!) though, which has the greatest actress in the world creating a cat-fishing profile on Facebook. The movie co-stars François Civil -- we are definitely fans, as this gratuitous post attests -- and Nebbou's last movie In the Forests of Siberia with Raphaël Personnaz had this scene in it (cue Tex Avery bulging eyeball effect) so yes please, we want to see this.
(dir. Quentin Dupieux)
Quentin Dupieux once made a movie about a murderous car tire, and I've followed him ever since. (Read my review of his last film Keep An Eye Out here, which I saw thanks to this series last year.) Anyway I thought that Dupieux working with his new leading man The Artist Jean Dujardin would be plenty to get me excited, and it was, but then I saw that their leading lady is Portrait of a Lady on Fire marvel Adèle Haenel, and I really rocketed right over the moon on this one. Per usual with a Dupieux movie I really have no idea what to expect from this thing's plot summary, which has Dujardin becoming obsessed with a new deer-skin jacket.
(dir. Lucie Borleteau)
This sounds basically like an upscale re-do of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, and I am a sucker for that shit. Will it probably be a little classier? Maybe. Who cares? Bring on the crazy nanny! It also co-stars Antoine Reinartz from BPM as the bedeviled daddy.

.
(dir. Bruno Dumont)
John Waters had this movie on his best of 2019 list.
I mean so did Cahiers du Cinéma but really... John said.
---------------------------------
Tickets for this year's "Rendez-vous With French Cinema" series go on sale on February 20th -- again you can see the entire line-up at FLC's website and I recommend you do, there are even more titles I didn't even get to that look exciting. I mean I didn't even talk about the Vincent Cassel movie, or director Claude Lelouche doing a sequel to his 1966 classic A Man and a Woman with original stars Jean-Louis Trintignant and Anouk Aimée. Imagine the nerve.

Good Morning, Gratuitous François Civil
.
It was fairly random how I fell down a François Civil hole yesterday -- I was looking up pictures of Domhnall Gleeson for yesterday's little post about him and I stumbled upon some photos of Dom and François living it up at the after-party for their 2014 movie Frank...
... now there's a cute damn couple worth rooting for. Anyway before you knew it I had several dozen photos of François sitting here begging to be posted. This is overdue though, since... well look at him!
.
I mean why even make a movie if you're not gonna have François Civil smiling in it? pic.twitter.com/B3Dl7mZOJR— Jason Adams (@JAMNPP) August 7, 2019
.
But that's not all -- he's been acting since he was a teenager and he's been popping up here and there in plenty of things over the years, like the aforementioned Frank (which I'm a real big fan of) and like the decent enough Paris Underground found footage horror film As Above So Below in 2014 and like that godawful TV remake of Rosemary's Baby with Zoe Saldana... eesh remember that?
Still most of his work is in his native France and most of it is in stuff that isn't making the Trans-Atlantic trek, but just judging off his list of credits on IMDb it seems as if he's doing pretty well there? I mean he did just made a movie with Juliette Binoche. Any Euro readers know the score? Well let's hope he does more work that we get to see here but until that happens let's enjoy those several dozen photos I mentioned a minute ago, right here after the jump...
