A Foal Was Found On The Brink Of Death...But What Happened After Is A Miracle

Abandoned at only four months old, this foal was barely hanging on when rescuers from Catley Cross Veterinary Clinic found him earlier this year. They brought him to their facility and discovered the little guy was suffering from dehydration, hypothermia, pneumonia, and lice.

There was a strong chance he wouldn’t make it, but that didn’t stop them from trying.

This was how he was found in February this year, collapsed and clearly starving.

Now going by Gizmo, they warmed him up with heating blankets and began treating his many ailments.

It was a lot for such a young cutie to fight, but they knew he wouldn’t give up on them.

Gizmo’s treatments included blood transfusions, bandaging, special diets, and antibiotics — all of which don’t come cheap.

However, the facility was happy to find themselves flooded with donations from those who hoped to help Gizmo get back on his hooves.

Of course, it wasn’t too surprising for the staff to discover how many other hearts this brave boy had touched, since they were all totally smitten with him, too!

Over the months, his strength continued to grow while his wounds healed.

Pretty soon, Gizmo was able to stand on his own and they gradually trained him.

He began to enjoy nice long walks along the grounds, greeting other horses and building his strength.

And today, you’d barely recognize this beautiful boy as the same one they found six months ago!

In fact, a few days ago, he won both the Youngstock RSPCA Class and Championship at Equifest, crowning him the Rescue Horse of the Year.

Take a look at one of his award-winning performances here:

Of course, he was already the champion in their hearts, but those shiny ribbons and medals do look good on him. The judges were so swept away by Gizmo’s incredible transformation, and according to Carolyn Wyse, a surgeon at the facility, some were even in tears as they awarded him the prize.

Gizmo was permanently adopted by Halstead Veterinary Clinic where he’ll continue to live his happiest, healthiest life.

She Faced A Deadly Injury, But These Folks Are Doing Everything To Keep Her Alive

At just two days old, this sweet mini horse, Angel, was dealt a painful blow when her 350-pound mom accidentally stepped on the little one’s leg. Her owners, Maine farmers Lennie and Brenda Green, were faced with a tough decision: amputate the leg, which had begun to get infected, or put the poor thing down.

They didn’t want to put her through more unnecessary trauma if she would still be unable to live a happy, active life. After some research into other farm animal amputations, and knowing full well how much more work it would mean on their part, they decided to go through with the lifesaving procedure.

Now at two months old, Angel sports a prosthetic donated cost-free by Maine Orthotic and Prosthetic Rehab Services.

Despite her set back, Angel’s owners are hopeful that she’ll be able to grow as big as all the other mini horses at their Double B Equine Rescue ranch. With all the love and care they provide for the cutie, it’s safe to say she has a pretty good chance of doing just that.

A Family Saved A Poor Deer When She Was Run Over. Now She's Even Cuter Than Ever

It takes an amazing person to reach out to those in need, especially when they might not have the ability to ask for help themselves. Countless stories of animals being left in dire situations that could’ve easily ended in heartbreak are turned around by the thoughtfulness of even one kind person.

When a family found this poor deer, she was only about a day old and suffering from a broken leg.

The sweet girl had been run over, but thankfully the damage wasn’t too severe.

They brought her to a vet who gave her some much-needed medical attention.

The family then brought her home where she was nursed back to health, pulling through her injuries like a champ. They named her Lily.

She ended up staying with them for several years after that. Her human family described her as playful and as sweet as a dog.

“She’d lay in your lap if you sat down by her, she’d eat your food, and she’d give you kisses.”

After enjoying her life with her people for a few years, Lily’s owners decided she needed a more natural habitat to roam.

They brought her to a reserve where she would have more land to enjoy, but still be protected from the elements she was no longer used to after spending so much of her life in a domestic setting.

It’s been a few years since leaving her at the facility, but the family is planning a reunion trip soon and can’t wait to see if she still recognizes them!

(source Reddit)

The family is confident Lily will remember her helpful humans who gave her a loving, happy life for so many years. They say she was even able to recognize her name when called for while living with them. I think it’s a pretty safe bet they made as big an impact on her as her cute face did on them.

This Burned And Abused Pit Bull Was Terrified...She Didn't Know What A Toy Was

There is no excuse for treating a defenseless animal with the amount of cruelty this poor pit bull endured in her young life. Found tied to a flagpole in Chicago, the sweet girl was suffering chemical burns and had clearly been harshly abused.

The amazing crew of women from Furever Rescue quickly came to her aid. The injuries were still so fresh that she was howling in pain as they brought her to an emergency veterinary facility.

Warning: her injuries are very difficult to look at.

The burns covered half her face…

And almost all of her front legs.

The vets got to work treating her heartbreaking wounds, but there was more than the physical trauma that needed healing.

At only eight months old, she had no idea how to adapt to her new, happy life.

In fact, when her foster mother presented her with a squeaky toy, Kinzie barked at it in fear.

But slowly, her playful side finally started to show as she grew more comfortable in her loving environment.

The organization will place her up for adoption once all her wounds have healed – inside and out.

You can keep tabs on her recovery on the Furever Rescue Facebook page. She might still have a long way to go, but I have no doubt this sweat pea will bring lots of happiness to her future forever home.
