When They Found This Leopard With His Head Stuck, Brave Locals Stepped Up To Help

When locals from a village in India discovered this poor leopard, the big cat looked more like Winnie the Pooh than any fierce feline. Just like that silly old bear, the curious leopard’s head was stuck inside a pot. (We can neither confirm nor deny the presence of honey in the pot, but encourage you to use your imagination.)

Luckily, some brave humans stepped up to carefully help the leopard from his sticky situation. They just had to make sure he wouldn’t bite the hand that freed him.

It’s like seeing Tigger try to steal Pooh’s honey, but less animated. I wonder if the big cat’s first thought was, “Oh, bother.” Hopefully he’ll learn his lesson a little better than our friend from Hundred Acre Woods ever did.

Wild Animals Around The World Have This Incredible Organization To Thank For Their Rescues

In 2011, the Peruvian government made a historic ban on circuses using animals for entertainment. However, the circus industry was reluctant to comply, keeping their animals in horrific conditions and using these cruel measures for personal profit.

So the amazing folks at Animal Defenders International began a long process to rescue every single animal that’s still suffering in these conditions. Thanks to incredible support from kind strangers, including a sizable donation from television veteran Bob Barker, the organization has been able to rescue over 80 animals.

Although their plan is a positive one, rescuers are met with deep sadness every day. On a recent mission, for example, they found this poor mountain lion that had only ever known pain and suffering.

When he wasn’t being dragged into performances, this beautiful creature spent his days chained up in a truck bed.

Mustafa was sold into the exotic pet industry when he was still a baby.

Emaciated and clearly in need of medical attention, he spent his entire life in chains.

Circus owners attempted to stage a riot in order to keep their enslaved animals, but they finally relented at the threat of heavy fines.

This tiger named Hoover was found 24 hours later in a separate circus. He lived in the same deplorable conditions.

Like Mustafa’s former owners, these people also attempted to riot against the rescue, but could not fight the laws that were stacked against them.

Condorito, a condor, had his wings clipped in order to keep him flightless and powerless.

But there is hope that his flight feathers will grow back, which would help him return to the wild.

Though the mission has officially come to an end with Mustafa’s rescue, ADI will continue keeping a close eye on the area for further illegal activity. They also have plans to investigate Colombia and Mexico for similar cases following legislation in both countries outlawing the use of animals in circus entertainment.

You can find updates on their ongoing missions on Facebook and Twitter, and you can also contribute to their life-saving efforts by making a donation.

This Big Cat's Got Butterfingers When He Tries To Protect His Precious Food Bowl

Dinner hour can be a testy time in any household, especially if you’ve reached hangry levels. (We’ve all been there.)

But then there are the times where you cannot wait to get a taste of that spaghetti and meatballs, that you’ll sit at the dinner table for as long as it takes. And if your brothers or sisters try to mess with your perfectly arranged place setting…well, good luck to them.

This is Matzu and his playmate, Cielis the Jaguar.

They usually get along really well…

Except, sometimes, when it’s time to eat…

Butterfingers over here gets a little greedy!

He really doesn’t want Cielis to mess with his food bowl!

These two are living comfortably at the Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation

The big cats that live here were rescued from situations where they were previously treated like objects.

Here, these animals get to experience a life full of love and compassion (and fun!).

Since these guys started their lives in captivity, it would be difficult to acclimate them to being truly wild animals again.

But they sure are protective of their dinners!

Don’t worry, he’s just playing…

I think!

These guys are all so lucky to have been rescued and taken to the loving caretakers at Black Jaguar-White Tiger! If you’re feeling generous, you can learn about their sponsorship program or just follow them on Instagram for more adorable big cat adventures.

When This Little Girl Comes Face-To-Face With A Liger, Something Adorable Happens

Animals at the zoo live pretty social lives from behind the glass, but moments like the one this lucky little girl had at the Shenzhen Safari Park in Guangdong, China, certainly don’t happen every day.

When the toddler moseyed up to the glass of a big cat enclosure, she quickly formed a bond with one of the adorable liger residents. The friendly feline just couldn’t take his eyes off the tiny human!

I think the liger was trying to get a better view by cleaning off the glass. Too bad the cuties couldn’t just cuddle up with each other, but that’s probably for the best.

When They Went On A Safari, They Wanted To Get Close...Maybe Just Not This Close

While out on an African safari, you expect to get a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse of wild animals in their natural habitat. The experience offers an up-close look at the beautiful creatures that just can’t be captured in a simple photo, but you probably don’t want to get quite this close to the feisty felines roaming the wilderness.

But sometimes those critters don’t let you make that decision when their curiosity gets the best of them.

This silly cheetah decided to give a group of tourists driving through the Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya an extra-special (and slightly terrifying) greeting.

The cheetah’s buddies were perfectly content on top of the SUV, but this cutie must have wanted a better look at the strange humans.

McCaldin’s friend David Horsey was sitting nearby and captured the tense moment.

They were fine with the friendly feline at first, but Horsey explains, “I think he was quite concerned it might try and sit in his lap.”

The silly cat spent a few minutes riding around with them before jumping out to go about his day. Though he’ll probably forget all about his brief time with his human friends, I’m sure it’s something the tourists will remember for the rest of their lives.
