For eight hours, an orca whale in British Columbia was stranded on some jagged rocks during low tide. Scared and tired, she was unable to wiggle herself free. Luckily, some nearby whale researchers and Good Samaritans jumped on the case…
The Guardians from Hartley Bay got a call from a colleague about the poor beached whale on Wednesday.
They kept her wet with ocean-water-soaked sheets and towels.
Shortly after they began to help, she calmed down, knowing that the humans were not going to hurt her.
Soon enough, 4 p.m. rolled around, and the tide began to come in.
It took her a bit to figure out how to wiggle herself free from the rocks…
But she made it out and reunited with her pod, which was close by the entire time.

What a wonderful story. This whale would have suffered terrible sun damage — or worse — if her rescuers hadn’t dedicated their entire day to this magnificent creature.
