This Guy Was Hiking When He Came Across This Baby Owl And Made A Heroic Decision

While enjoying a nice hike, this Seattle resident noticed something a little strange in the woods: a baby owl out in the middle of the day.

At first he thought it was simply a great opportunity to observe the nocturnal bird in its natural habitat, but then he realized the anomaly could signify something was wrong.

When the little guy attempted to turn around on his branch, the hiker could tell one of his wings was definitely injured.

After contacting his local PAWS organization, he carefully gathered the owl into a box, even though he was nervous of any nearby owl parents who might take offense.

He immediately drove to the PAWS shelter 30 minutes away. Staffers assured him they’d keep him posted on the cutie’s recovery.

While at the shelter, they explained how they’d received a call about the owl the day before, but that the person on the other end wasn’t willing to get up close to the wild animal. The tough bird held strong for over 24 hours before this kind stranger found him.

He called the shelter the next day for an update and received good news: after being treated for dehydration and the wound to his wing, likely caused by falling from a branch, he is expected to be back flying high in no time.

It just goes to show that the kindness of a Good Samaritan can go a long way in helping a furry friend out.
