Canopy

Canopy view her on my website Canopy, original acrylic on flat panel, 16”x20”, $850 plus s&h. I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . Winter hasn’t even officially begun here in Michigan, and I am already pining for the whisper of foliage. My lungs just don’t fill the same way in the colder months (prolly because taking a deep breath outside would freeze me to the core!). There’s something about being in the woods, feet buried in the soft mouldering ground, listening to the leaves, squirrels and birds gossip, while veils of green filter the light. The squirrels still have much to say and the birds are pretty succinct these days, but I miss the even keeled advice of the leaves. So this painting was an invitation to imagine myself on some of my favorite pathways in some of my favorite green spaces getting some well grounded advice and dirt on the chipmunks. Hang Canopy on your walls, and you get to wander the same trails wit...

My Pretty

My Pretty view her on my website My Pretty, original acrylic on flat panel, 18”x24”, $1000 plus s&h. I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . When I was a child the holidays were ushered in by watching The Wizard of Oz. This was back in the day before streaming or movie rentals or cable TV, when one had to wait for a network channels to air something. I believe it was Thanksgiving evening, or maybe the next day, when The Wizard of Oz was traditionally aired. It remains one of my favorite holiday memories. I saw Wicked (the movie) a couple weeks ago and it blew my mind. So much eye candy, imaginative spaces, gorgeous costuming, the music and choreography. I realized that I’ve been on a poppy kick with my paintings lately too. So this one started out as pink and green poppies - a nod to Glinda and Elphaba. And I decided I had to title her for The Wicked Witch’s nickname for Dorothy, Pretty. I had so much fun with this palette...

Sunbeam

Sunbeam view her on my website Sunbeam, original acrylic on flat panel, 18”x24”, $1000 plus s&h. I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . It’s been a week of mostly gloomy, gray weather here in Michigan. To combat that, I’m working with bright color and big blooms. Luckily enough, my mood improves when I’m surrounded by color and my day job allows me to do just that. I am so pleased to share that  registration is now open  for my fall 2025 in person workshop (Tustin, California) titled  On the Fly , where we dive into improvisational painting. What is that, you ask? It’s working directly from your source, embracing intuition and spontaneity. A perfect way to elevate your work by building imaginative possibilities and honing your painting chops. Meanwhile, Sunbeam is here waiting to elevate your Vitamin D levels! You can view her  on my website,   inside a room setting  and  up close . The ...

Dolly

Dolly view her on my website Dolly, original acrylic on flat panel, 18”x24”, $1000 plus s&h. I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . I am busy planning 2025 already, as crazy as it may sound. Between my own studies, teaching commitments, creating gallery inventory and other events, it looks like I’ll be pretty busy through the fall. Guess that’s what they call job security, right?! Dolly, so named for the Dahlia bloom on her head, is the impetus behind my next online course. This one will be focused on color, starring Fox and florals. It is intentionally designed to be a great companion to last year’s  Intuitive Painting course  featuring Bears and the landscape (which, by the way, would make a great holiday gift for someone…). I’ll be painting variations of this Fox-floral theme as I work through palette options and build a lesson plan challenging artists at all levels. Meanwhile, watch for more details - we are...

Vigilant

Vigilant view her on my website NOTE:  I intentionally stayed quiet over Thanksgiving weekend. This felt contrary to past years where Solo-preneur Kim eagerly joined the kickoff of holiday shopping with curated gift giving lists and special promotions. But you know what? the world is loud enough. I was annoyed with the sheer volume of Black Friday emails a whole week prior which means you probably were too. And why would I want my newsletters to be part of that cacophony? I am hopeful that I communicate frequently enough that you know my offerings (original art, prints, smart phone cases, tshirts, books, classes, free content) are available through   my website , 24/7. Don’t hesitate to   reach out   with ANY questions. You know I would love to help you shop for yourself and loved ones. Vigilant, original acrylic on flat panel, 18”x24”, $1000 plus s&h. I welcome questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . Vigilant is a me...

Cathedral

Cathedral view her on my website Cathedral, original acrylic on cradled panel, 20”x24”x1-1/2”, image painted on sides so no need to frame, $1500 plus s&h. I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . Cathedral is featured in my latest online lesson about the value of working in a series, which is something I ask my students to do. When you define a singular problem based on your own interests, then set out to learn more about it via multiple viewpoints, you give yourself the gift of really understanding the issue. And that understanding then bleeds in to so much of your decision making for future works. Imagine working in a series for a year. How much can you learn about a dozen tubes of paint if you use only them for a year’s time? How good will you get at painting skies alla prima if you practice that for a year? Well, my students could tell you.  (Cathedral is part of my Talisman series where vessel shaped animals conta...
