Pinkie, Reworked

FINISHED: "Pinkie," from The Beribboned Series , 12" x 16", acrylics on panel. Available (when finished) to the  first asking nicely , $579 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much. Pinkie got a facelift, literally. I put all my references away, including the ribbon setup. I redrew her features from memory, then decided that she needed to be a lighter value than the ribbon. Then I adjusted the bow a bit, too, and tucked her ear behind, so it all perched perfectly on her head. Because I was able to listen to the painting (instead of being married to my references and original concept), Pinkie's portrait turned out far nicer. Chickie

"Chickie," from The Beribboned Series , 16" x 20", acrylics on panel. Available to the  first asking nicely , $649 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much. Nobody paints chicks like Alecia Underhill.  They are BIG and soft and full of yummy color. Here's a little print of one of my favs of hers, Grumpy Chick. I gave my chick a good try, nonetheless, with her blessing. And I had a great time! You can bet there will be more of these.... it IS almost spring, after all! Pinkie, in Process

IN PROCESS: "Pinkie," from The Beribboned Series , 12" x 16", acrylics on panel. Available (when finished) to the  first asking nicely , $579 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much. For whatever reason, today was a struggle. We all have days where nothing seems to work out, myself included. But now that I've painted this little mouse, and repainted, and painted again, and yet again, so many times that I've lost count, I can see what my issue is.  So I am ending my day with clarity. And some mac and cheese. Both of them being very good things. If you want something to do, hop on over to my new website and let me know what you think!! I've been picking away at it all week long. Thanks for supporting my art, Warmly, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com

Wilbur Embraces His Feminine Side

"Wilbur Embraces His Feminine Side," from The Beribboned Series , 18" x 24", acrylics on panel. Available to the  first asking nicely , $799 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much. That skinny bow nestled on top? it reminded me of a spider for some reason, hence the pig's name "Wilbur." Charlotte's Web was a favorite read when I was younger. Eenie, Meenie, Minee, Bow

"Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Bow," roughly 18" x 18", acrylics on panel, from the Beribboned series. Available to the  first asking nicely , $799 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much. Special thanks to a super wonderful young lady for sharing pics of her wee one's with me - hope I did them justice Islay!! Thank you also to MR for the best title ever. Also, SUPER excited because The Princess gets to tame and train a mouse in her zoology class this term. Which means OKeefe (the studio hamster) will have a friend!! So happy!! (it doesn't take much to make me happy these days!) Thanks for supporting my art, Warmly, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com

Blossom

"Blossom," from the Beribboned series , 16" x 20", acrylics on panel, available for purchase to the  first asking nicely , $749 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much! Now I want a mouse. Thanks, as always, for supporting my dream, Warmly, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com

Whiskers

Sapphire, in process

IN PROCESS (and with glare, apologies): "Sapphire," 24" x 30", acrylics on panel, available for purchase to the  first asking nicely , $899 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much! So here's the thing: I had an entirely different plan in mind when I started this painting. And like a toddler throwing a tantrum, Sapphire insisted on doing something else. So I decided to indulge her, spent some time studying and responding to what was there, and came up with this. It's kinda haphazard right now, but I can almost visualize the ending. For a while there today I was painting blindly, with very little idea of what was to come next. Disconcerting, but a great exercise in letting go of control. Thanks, as always, for supporting my dream, Warmly, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com

Bijou, in process

IN PROCESS: "Bijou," 24" x 36", acrylics on gallery wrapped panel, available for purchase to the  first asking nicely , $1299 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much! Take a wilted armful of spray roses from the clearance bin, add a box of vintage crystal drops, throw in a couple thrift store pieces of costume jewelry, and you have my inspiration.  I'm working fast, because the roses are starting to tire. Sometimes speed painting turns out better because I'm not second guessing or overthinking everything. Can you feel the magic already? Thanks, as always, for supporting my dream, Warmly, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com

Midas, Finished

"Midas," 24" x 30", acrylics on panel, available for purchase to the  first asking nicely , $899 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much! I should charge double for this one. Those ribbons took a damn eternity, so many repaints I lost count, and I'm freaking cross eyed from the stripes. BUT - here's the thing - I stuck through it, asked myself why things weren't working, found the answers through trial and error, and made it work. So yesterday's crappy paint day? No longer matters my friends! Thanks, as always, for supporting my dream, Warmly, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com

Midas, In Process

IN PROCESS: "Midas," 24" x 30", acrylics on panel, available for purchase to the  first asking nicely , $899 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much! This is daVinci, one of my studio kitties. And this painting is entirely HIS attitude - he thinks he's a Pretty Big Deal. So the ridiculous crown of gold ribbons and his stately, classic 3/4 profile are absolutely perfect. I had hoped to finish the piece today, but had a tough time finding my groove. Which happens - so, I'm going to be kind to myself and return tomorrow for another pass. It's only paint. And we can't always be on fleek. Well, maybe you can, but I can't! Thanks, as always, for supporting my dream, Warmly, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com

Curls

"Curls," 24" x 30", acrylics on panel, featuring a palomino Thoroughbred with a festive and somewhat tropically colored forelock of ribbon. $899 and the first asking nicely gets her! As always, inquiries may come to me . Wouldn't this (or any of my Beribboned paintings ) make for an incredible focal point in a nursery or child's room? Thanks, as always, for following my art, Warmly, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com

Minx

"Minx," 24" x 30", acrylics on panel, featuring a black Thoroughbred mare with a tangled forelock of ribbon. Minx is available - what a stunning holiday gift she would make! $899 and the first asking nicely gets her! As always, inquiries may come to me . A couple weeks ago I roadtripped to Linda Shantz's home, hanging out together in her studio and in the barn. This painting is inspired by one of her layups, Quidi Vidi, and our childhood obsession with the Black Stallion . We both are convinced that Quidi Vidi is exactly what Black Minx, the Black Stallion's filly, would have looked like. Thanks, as always, for following my art, Warmly, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com

Peppermint

"Peppermint," 16" x 20", acrylics on panel, featuring a lop eared rabbit crowned with a delightful candy cane striped bow. Many thanks to Cornelia K for allowing me to use her bunny as inspiration for this painting. Peppermint needs a home - she can be yours for $749 - the first asking nicely gets to adopt her! As always, inquiries may come to me . Not much to do while the snow flies but sling paint. Who should I crown next? hmmmm...... Thanks, as always, for following my art, Warmly, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com
