Delta, a Momma Bear Painting

Delta, 24"x24", acrylic on flat panel, $1200 plus s&h to the first asking nicely, which you can do via   my website   or with   a sweet note to me . I mentioned on my socials yesterday that my paintings are a singular object that acts as a touchstone for multiple moments. So when I look at a piece, I don't just see the final painting, but I remember all the experiences that keyed into her making. My oldest was recently married, my youngest readying to graduate university, which meant my role of mother was transitioning into something new. I officially had a new daughter while my other girl was leaping into adulthood. One of our favorite places to walk the dogs was sold to a developer. This historic area held weathered red barns and numerous outbuildings overgrown with vines and wildflowers - it was rich with texture and a complex variety of earthy reds. The brilliant red of the sumac and maples the fall prior to this painting, and how the un...

March 2024 Classroom Calendar

The Magic Space   is my membership program, an online classroom where students get a front row seat to what's playing out in the studio, guidance on my various techniques and instruction on how they, too, can weave their artwork with processes, symbols and subject matter uniquely their own. Started in 2017, it began as a way for me to deliver deeper insight and valuable content to artists wishing to understand how I approach making my own art. It also enabled me to form a closer relationship with students and provide an entirely different level of support than what a typical in person workshop might provide. Over the years Magic Space participants have unearthed their own stylistic tendencies and learned how to speak about the what and why behind their art, and deep friendships have formed. All classroom content is delivered digitally, with three live events each month (check out the   free sample lessons   I've got on my YouTube channel). Additionally students hav...

"Autumn," 24"x18"x1-1/2", acrylic and water solubles on cradled panel, with the image painted around the sides so no need to frame, This piece is $849 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. And thank you so much for your interest in my artwork. Returning collectors receive 10% off original artwork purchases. I accept paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries my always come   to me . This sweet girl is inspired by a dream I had several nights ago, and my rescued rabbit Gertie was the willing model. In the dream I had an awakening of sorts, where I recognized my role as a nurturer. I found that intriguing given the reading I've been doing of late (Robin Wall Kimmerer, Suzanne Simard, Linda Hogan and Richard Powers' The Overstory), and the intrinsic idea that we give back (to the earth) prior to respectfully and reverently taking for ourselves.  In a nod to the seasonal shift and daylight savings time, too, I painted Autumn filled with her ...

NEW PAINTING Bloom

"Bloom," 24"x30", acrylics and graphite on panel, Not currently for sale. Inquiries may always come  to me . I can't decide what my favorite bit of this painting is - the orange flower blooming above her left eye? the way her whiskers twist together into the negative space on the right side of the painting? her wry smile and half shut eyes? that purple flower just past her prime with petals dancing off into oblivion? There's so much to look at and process here, it makes me giddy. My Magic Space (online) students are getting a video short about the making of this painting. There's also nuggets of info in there about finding your own artists' style.  If you are curious yourself,   please join us ! Be well, Fondly, Kim
