Paintings With Soul

  The Source, 18"x24", acrylic on panel, will be available at the end of August. Questions can always come  to me. The Summer of Abstraction continues.... In June I was scared about NOT painting animals and taking a break from the Talisman paintings to study abstraction. At first I really missed their presence on my easel. But after making about   50 new paintings   (I've been very busy), I don't miss them as much. They are showing up in other ways - hints of them are showing up inside the new work, like the smell of someone's hair after they've moved through a room. I don't think they (the animals) are fully realized - perhaps that's the whole purpose, for them to remain a ragged memory - and I'm honestly not sure what comes next. "Song of Three (Daydream 43)," (this one is incredibly difficult to photograph - there is so much glare from the layers - I'll have to take her outside on an overcast day and try again), 36x48x1", gallery wrapped canvas, acrylics and graphite, image painted/extended around wrap so no need to frame, $2499 plus s&h. So over the last two years this particular canvas has had several iterations - one being layers of punk tulle, then there were some parrot tulips, and those, over the course of the last week, became primroses. That's the thing about painting intuitively - one is never fully in control of the outcome, merely channeling the ideas. In other related news, my blow dryer caught fire today while I was using it to dry this painting. Not sure if that was her way of stating her opinion...... Thanks, as always, for following along ...
