My Pretty

My Pretty view her on my website My Pretty, original acrylic on flat panel, 18”x24”, $1000 plus s&h. I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . When I was a child the holidays were ushered in by watching The Wizard of Oz. This was back in the day before streaming or movie rentals or cable TV, when one had to wait for a network channels to air something. I believe it was Thanksgiving evening, or maybe the next day, when The Wizard of Oz was traditionally aired. It remains one of my favorite holiday memories. I saw Wicked (the movie) a couple weeks ago and it blew my mind. So much eye candy, imaginative spaces, gorgeous costuming, the music and choreography. I realized that I’ve been on a poppy kick with my paintings lately too. So this one started out as pink and green poppies - a nod to Glinda and Elphaba. And I decided I had to title her for The Wicked Witch’s nickname for Dorothy, Pretty. I had so much fun with this palette...

Sunbeam

Sunbeam view her on my website Sunbeam, original acrylic on flat panel, 18”x24”, $1000 plus s&h. I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . It’s been a week of mostly gloomy, gray weather here in Michigan. To combat that, I’m working with bright color and big blooms. Luckily enough, my mood improves when I’m surrounded by color and my day job allows me to do just that. I am so pleased to share that  registration is now open  for my fall 2025 in person workshop (Tustin, California) titled  On the Fly , where we dive into improvisational painting. What is that, you ask? It’s working directly from your source, embracing intuition and spontaneity. A perfect way to elevate your work by building imaginative possibilities and honing your painting chops. Meanwhile, Sunbeam is here waiting to elevate your Vitamin D levels! You can view her  on my website,   inside a room setting  and  up close . The ...

Dolly

Dolly view her on my website Dolly, original acrylic on flat panel, 18”x24”, $1000 plus s&h. I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . I am busy planning 2025 already, as crazy as it may sound. Between my own studies, teaching commitments, creating gallery inventory and other events, it looks like I’ll be pretty busy through the fall. Guess that’s what they call job security, right?! Dolly, so named for the Dahlia bloom on her head, is the impetus behind my next online course. This one will be focused on color, starring Fox and florals. It is intentionally designed to be a great companion to last year’s  Intuitive Painting course  featuring Bears and the landscape (which, by the way, would make a great holiday gift for someone…). I’ll be painting variations of this Fox-floral theme as I work through palette options and build a lesson plan challenging artists at all levels. Meanwhile, watch for more details - we are...

This one feels more spring to me than autumn (can you find the crabapples?), but I’m not complaining. Particularly because we have had days of rain here in Michigan, and while the grass has greened up some, I’m aching to see blue skies. Indian Summer

Indian Summer view her on my website Indian Summer, original acrylic on panel, 24”x18”, $1000 plus s&h. I always welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . I was still  “om-ming”  when I started this one. Of course, elements of the prior painting or whatever I happen to be thinking about always travel into the next piece. While I may paint isolated in my basement studio, my art doesn’t is not made in a vaccum. I choose what to consciously invite, like the fox I dream about and a color palette inspired by the season, but my gut brings the rest. Intuitive painting is about setting the table and waiting to see who your guest of honor will be. It is the most demanding form of painting I have ever tried - and the most satisfying. I have no idea what’s coming next, but I know she will be fascinating. You are invited to view Indian Summer  on my website , inside a room setting and up close, like nose to the canvas up cl...

Optimist began as a demonstration painting in my workshop last month.
