Canopy

Canopy view her on my website Canopy, original acrylic on flat panel, 16ā€x20ā€, $850 plus s&h. I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just  reach out . Winter hasnā€™t even officially begun here in Michigan, and I am already pining for the whisper of foliage. My lungs just donā€™t fill the same way in the colder months (prolly because taking a deep breath outside would freeze me to the core!). Thereā€™s something about being in the woods, feet buried in the soft mouldering ground, listening to the leaves, squirrels and birds gossip, while veils of green filter the light. The squirrels still have much to say and the birds are pretty succinct these days, but I miss the even keeled advice of the leaves. So this painting was an invitation to imagine myself on some of my favorite pathways in some of my favorite green spaces getting some well grounded advice and dirt on the chipmunks. Hang Canopy on your walls, and you get to wander the same trails wit...

NEW PAINTING Resolute

Resolute, 16x20, acrylic on a gallery wrapped oval stretched canvas, sides painted so no need to frame, $960 plus s&h to   the first asking nicely . And of course, questions can always come   to me. it was important to me  (for some unknown reason) that the first painting of this year be a rabbit. Folklore claims that saying "rabbit rabbit" first thing on the first day of the month will bring luck, so perhaps I was projecting this belief to my portfolio wishes for the new year. (and having just signed my second painting of 2023, I can say that it might be working!) You can view a larger image of Resolute   here , check out the details, even see her installed in a room. You can also view other available artworks through the same link. Thanks so much for following along with - and supporting - my art journey, warmly, Kim

NEW PAINTING The Snowy Day

have you read The Snowy Day?  That little red bit near her eye? it's a nod to Ezra Keat's book  The Snowy Day , as is the title of the painting. I have a soft spot for children's picture books, particularly those that were my own kiddos favorites. There's something so wonderful about curling up with a book - and a child, if you are so lucky. Opening up imagination and possibility inside the embrace of the pages. And the artwork. As always, I welcome questions or thoughts about my work. Thanks so much for following along with - and supporting - my art journey, warmly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Land and Sea

"Land and Sea," 24"x36", acrylic on panel, $1300 plus s&h. You may purchase her directly   here,   or   reach out to me   for further details. I don't consider myself a landscape painter but I have to say that my (outdoor) surroundings have really been impacting the work I make. I think it started in late 2022 when, after our move, I fell deeply in love with our new property. I began walking it each day, looking for subtle changes. And the views from each window are masterfully framed - they always provide a glimpse of something stunning for those days when the weather was a bit too much (this is Michigan after all). During our 5 days in Maine last week, I soaked up the sky and ocean. The vistas, rocky beaches, dense old growth woods, ponds, winding roads, windswept trails. These things are trickling into the paintings I'm working on, even if, like Land and Sea, those paintings were started before the trip. Art isn't created in a vacuum. I am rec...

Collectors please watch for an email in the next few days. a few weeks ago I invited this painting back to my easel   because it was time to add to her story. Things had played out in the world, and with fresh eyes I saw that I could make some powerful changes to her design.  I believe I have finished her - at least for now. Who knows when the next chapter will show up (and if she's no longer here in the studio, I'll have to start a new one, lol!!) T...

It's been a wonderful few days. We skipped town for a little spring break that was packed with adventures of the best sort. I came back to the studio full of ideas and enthusiasm for new works - I feel like I can now see the forest for the trees!! If you are interested in learning the back story on how they came to my easel, along with the conceptual work I am doing as I explore this subject matter, tune in to the zoom session I'm having with my online students next week (Wednesday at noon eastern). I'll share my personal history with trees, some recent ah-ha moments, show how this work is rooted in my painting philosophy (The Creativ...

This may be the last of the new Talisman paintings offered for a bit, as I'm a bit distracted with trees lately. Not sure when I'll be climbing out of them. Just saying...... Thanks for taking the time to look at my work, With peace, Kim

NEW PAINTING Pride

"Pride," 24"x48", acrylic on flat panel. This painting may be offered at a future date with a collection of similar pieces.  Reach out   with any questions and thanks so much for your interest in my artwork. I have become an arborist, in paint at least. In the last week, at least 10 of these trees paintings have sprouted and come to life. I am giving them space to evolve and trying to stay out of the way.  These trees have rich, complicated lives. They have been shaped by their circumstances, and are unapologetic about where they stand. They assiduously record our histories while bridging the ground we are collectively rooted in with the heavens, our symbol for eternal life. I feel, too, as though they are emblematic of what we do to each other and our world. They bear witness. Stay tuned - in the coming week or so I will put together a slideshow of the tree paintings to date. I think you will enjoy seeing them collectively. Thanks for...
