July Mood Board inspiration with Jane

Hi Friends!  I'm so happy to share this Birthday card featuring colors inspirited by the July mood board (see below).   To create this card, I first ink blended the background on Bristol paper using the following distress oxide inks (top to bottom): mustard seed, dried marigold , abandoned coral , seedless preserves and dusty concord .  Then, I splatted the background using water and a thin paint brush.   The background was then cut using the scallop stackables die set to create a fun pattern on the edges of the paper.   Next, I stamped and colored the images using copic markers from the following Lawn Fawn stamp sets: Ocean shell-fie , fintastic friends , mermaid for you , you are sublime , keep on swimming and so jelly .   After the images were cut using the coordinating dies, I adhered them using foam tape, thin foam squares and liquid glue to the card front.   Next, I cut the scripty "birthday " and scripty "wishes " die using white cardstock.  The &quo

Happy Easter Everyone!  I'm sharing this fun and colorful Easter card with you today using several Lawn Fawn products which can be purchased at Butterfly Reflections Ink !  My colors were inspired by the April mood board (below).  I choose to use a gradient of greens, blues, purple and coral colors for my card.  Since this card is so colorful, I decided to add in some white in order to focus most of the attention to the critters in front of the card.  To start, I used the stitched rectangles to cut a piece of pattern paper .  Then, I cut another smaller rectangle using white card stock.  The pieces where then adhered together using liquid glue.  Next, I swiped the following Catherine Pooler inks onto scraps of white cardstock:   in the park , mint to be , cummerbund , its a boy , serenade , sweet sixteen , be mine , its a girl, do-si-do , bellini , tiara .  Then, each piece of cardstock was cut to 1/4 inch strips using a die (paper trimmer also works) and adhered to a piece o

Hi Friends!  I'm sharing this adorable little axolotl holiday card using inspiration from the December mood board.  I focused on using variations of blue to create a fun ink blended background for this card. November mood board inspiration with Jane

Hi Friends!  I'm back again sharing some mood board inspiration for you!  Check out the beautiful colors on this month's mood board.   Honestly, I struggled with this one a bit.  These colors represent a tetradic color scheme, and are often difficult to put together without becoming overwhelming.  I choose to find balance by using an equal amount of each color on my card.  Everything was bound together by using gold highlights, since gold seemed to fit in nicely with each color on the mood board.   To start, I masked off an A2 size of Bristol smooth cardstock on top and bottom using post-it tape.  Next, I ink blended the following distress oxide inks (left to right): mustard seed , abandoned coral , evergreen bough , wilted violet .  Next, I used the happy trails stencil by simple stories to ink in the forest background.  Distress Inks used from left to right: fossilized amber, picked raspberry, lucky clover and seedless preserves.  Then, I removed the mask and adhered a small

November mood board inspiration with Jane

Hi Friends!  I'm back sharing a mood board inspired card with you today.  This month's board features both warm and cool colors, which are sometimes difficult to incorporate into cards.  I decided to keep the leaves vibrant and warm while keeping the background on the cooler side.  I thought the contrast in color as well as the white gave the card a nice look.  What do you think? To start, I ink blended crimson and sun kissed Altenew inks on white cardstock.  Next, I used the small stitched leaves die to cut the leaves.   Wonderful window die cut using white cardstock and stacked twice to create a dimension.  I traced the window die on a piece of white cardstock and cut it using scissors.  Next, I used emerald ink from Altenew to ink blend a soft teal behind the window.   I masked off the bottom panel of a white card base and ink blended a plaid background using the diamond plaid stencil by Pinkfresh studio .  Altenew inks in emerald and andromeda used for the plaid back

To start, I first masked off the moon and then ink blended a sky using the following distress oxide inks (top to bottom): seedless preserves , ripe persimmon and mustard seed .  Next, I splatted the background with some water.  Then I used the grassy stencil and distress oxide ink colors in pine needles and peeled paint to blend the grass. The panel was cut using the outside in largest stitched rectangle die .  The word “boo” was cut using Finley’s ABC die .  I saved the inside pieces of the letters so I could glue them into the missing areas later.   Acetate sheet was glued to the back of the panel and double sided foam tape added to the edges to create a shak
