March Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board! I am not much of a pastel fan and because of that these boards I put together tend to be bold and rich colors. I think the early spring blooms and sunshine has me feeling quite the opposite right now! Pale Cyan, Soft Pink, Jasmine, Robin Egg Blue  And here's the layout it inspired! Have you ever scraplifted yourself!? That's actually what I did here from this layout . I occasionally do some digital scrapbooking and when I do I always find myself loving the designs and wanting to duplicate it with paper. Especially when it involves triangles.  I cut a bunch of triangles in various papers and figured out placement. Before gluing them down I moved them aside and added a bit of mist to my background. Most of this was going to be covered up but I still wanted to have that little something extra. After replacing the triangles I used my white embossing paste with one of my (many) triangle ...

Sepia Thank You

Good morning!  Heather  here from  Houses Built of Cards ! Today I'm sharing a thank you card with a vintage feel - or at least that is what I was trying to accomplish! There is something so fun and simple about a monochromatic card! I used the new Wplus9 Watercolored Anemones stamp set - another favorite of their newest release! I stamped it in various shades of neutral brown tone MFT ink, then die cut the panel borders with MFT's Die-namics Stitched Basic Edges  and the sentiment which came from Party Animal . Added some pattern paper from Crate Paper's 6x6 Poolside paper pad and tucked a doily behind. Added a couple strips of white cardstock with torn edges held on with a paper clip and tied with some jute twine, then a sprinkling of Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars and white enamel dots . As a final finishing touch, I added some shimmer with a Gold Wink of Stella Marker . Hard to see in the photos, but shows up a tad better on this picture - I h...

Birthday Bear

Good morning!  Heather  here from  Houses Built of Cards ! We have a fairly large family, so I'm pretty sure the type of card I use more than anything else is birthday cards. It is probably the one I am requested to make more often than anything as well! The masculine ones are always particularly difficult for me, so I'm quite happy when I find a design that will work for that! I love some of the Altenew images for that reason - especially the ones from Geometric Menagerie that I used for this card: I colored it with Copic markers, then fussy cut it out. I stamped a sentiment from Altenew's Birthday Greetings (LOVE this for birthday sentiments!) and heat embossed on vellum with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder (one of my favorites, because it isn't exactly gold, but not exactly silver - kind of in the middle!), then die cut it and a woodgrain panel with Lawn Fawn's Stitched Journaling Card Die . I adhered them together, and attached the bear with ...

March Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here with you today to share this month's mood board! I seem to be using a lot of yellow lately, which was the starting point for the collection. I just love the contrast of it paired with hot pink, mint and teal! And here is the layout I created! I love how this layout turned out and how the colors pulled together. I'm not crazy about my title, that seems to be my biggest hang up with layouts, but I love it anyway! Has this color combo inspired you? Link me up in the comments with your own creation! You're AMAZING

I have done a complete turn around in my cardmaking for this post and gone back to what I'm comfortable with...LOTS OF STAMPING! :)  My last post featured no stamping at all and this time it's the opposite. It's fun how we can switch things up like that! Waffle Flower had an amazing release just a few weeks ago and my favourite set from it is In Every Way . The scripty font? Swoon. The label style sentiments? Yeah! The ability to mix and match elements? Thud.  I love it all. I've used some of the teeny tiny elements from another Waffle Flower set to create my background. Riverside , Starry Night and in fact almost every other Waffle Flower set has those tiny stamps perfect for customizing a background. Go ahead and try it! For an accent I dipped some  Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars  in ink to match the sentiment. It's a great way to make sure your accents match the rest of the card.  Don't forget to check out some of the amazing Waffle F...

No stamping?! WHAT?!

If you're a stamping addict avert your eyes! There's...wait for it...NO STAMPING on this card. I can hardly believe it myself seeing as I'm a self-professed stamp-lover.  I challenged myself to make a card by not using any stamps or ink and instead focus on some of the pretty elements that are included in a 6x6 paper pad.  I used the Open Book 6x6 paper collection by Crate Paper for this creation and jazzed it up by colouring the sentiment with a Spica clear glitter marker and by adding a few  heart-shaped wood veneers  (adhered with Multi Media Matte ).  The panel that showcases the sentiment comes from this piece- shown is the 12x12 version but the 6x6 includes many of these elements too.  Going stamp and ink-free *might* be difficult considering all the AMAZING new stuff that keeps coming into the shop (enabler alert!) but give it a try! You might end up using some of those papers that you look at and think "what the heck will I d...

Stickers and Stitching and Stars - Oh My!

Hello all!! Samantha here, and I'm sharing a super lovely layout that I made using lots of fun products from the Butterfly Reflections Ink shop !! So let's get down into it, shall we? I used a super fun yellow-green ombre-bokeh pattern from my base - (It's from the Bo Bunny Lemonade Stand collection, and the 6x6 can be found here - it PERFECT for summer!!). I  have been seeing lots of layouts popping up where rub-ons are Rub On's are layered and used to add design and whimsy to the background of scrapbook layouts, and I think that's AWESOME!! I took that layout, and used clear stickers instead!! Same idea - similar look! I used almost all of the DIY Simple Stories stickers and made a cluster going from top left of the page to the bottom right. I LOVE how it looks!! I also added some White enamel dots , My Mind's EYE Necessities Wood Shapes and I even heat embossed some stars a sun and a moon from the Butterfly Reflections Ink Exclusive Stamp...

a Wink and a Nod to Mixed Media in Cardmaking

Hello! Samantha here on this Halloween eve! :D I have a super FUN card to share that I made with AMAZING products from the Butterfly Reflections Ink store! Here's a little snippet of what this post is all about! Oh yes! Lots of layers, texture and fun!! Ok, here's the full card: First I used some gelatos to create the blue background. I scribbled them onto some Tim Holtz Watercolor paper and then added lots of water with a paintbrush to blend and move the colors around! I also finished off the color (once it was dry!) with some Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink on a few of the edges! But you could totally create the SAME look with watercolors! Then I stamped a few the adorable and beautiful small, text style sentiments from the Over the Rainbow Butterfly Reflections Ink EXCLUSIVE stamp set multiple times. I also did some 2nd generation stamping with the same sentiments. Then I stamped some of the small clustered stars in Tumbled Glass Distress Ink  to add a li...

So in Love!

Hi Everyone!  I'm really excited to share with you this gorgeous, but time consuming layout (it was worth every minute when you see the result)!  Vanessa sent me some 6x6 pads and I wanted to showcase all of the beautiful papers in the Basic Grey Fresh Cut collection .  I decided to punch a bunch of hearts out of some of my favorite papers and glue them down dimensionally into one large heart.  It took me a little over an hour to achieve this look. Since, I wanted the paper to be the star, I didn't want to over embellish the page.  I used to frames from The Pier collection to frame my photos.  Then, I dipped some of the wood veneer clouds from Chic Tags in some chalk ink and added a flair from Crate Paper Love Notes .  I adhered everything down using Multi Matte Medium .      I just love the light and airy look of the finished product.  I hope you enjoyed!  --Nicole

distress ink rainbow, stencils and wood veneers!

Hello! Samantha here, and today I have a card that features...well..pretty much EVERYTHING i'm currently crushing on!! Here's just a sample: Oh yeah! Now that I have wet your appetite, let's get down to it! Here is my card: Oh! It makes me so happy! I made the background panel with 6 different distress inks ! First, I smooshed them onto my acrylic block, and then I used a paintbrush and water to paint them onto my Tim Holtz watercolor paper! Once the rainbow was complete, I took this super awesome stencil and liberally sprayed LOTS of Mr Huey's Calico White spray over it all! I popped up the watercolor piece and added the sentiment from Paper Smooches Spectrum stamp set (one of my favorites ever!) which I stamped onto handmade banners! The wood veeneers are from the Cloud 9 Bloom wood veneer pack - LOVE THOSE LITTLE HEARTS! lol! what a sweet addition to the clouds! Lastly, I completed the sentiment with some Studio Calico Tiny Alphas (I'...

dream on - perfect pearls + embossing paste

Happy Weekend! Samantha here and I'm SUPER excited to share my card with you today! I used LOTS of great products from the shop ! Here's my card: Do you have the aerosmith song stuck in your head now? I had it stuck in my head the entire time I was making this card! I LOVE it!  (and if you're interested in a cover of that song, with a haunting and beautiful feel... check this out !) Yeah, ok, let's dive in! First of all, the feathers are from the Lawn Fawn stamp set - dreams, which I stamped onto vellum and then stuck right onto the card!  That beautiful blue paper in the background...well that is from the amazing Echo Park Hello Again 6x6 paper pad ! LOOOOOOOVE it!!  I added some white splatters to the background, and the gold you see...well my friends, that was FUN! I used an amazing stencil from Hero Arts and added some embossing paste. While it was still wet, I added some Perfect Pearls . I love it! It has a total (almost) mixed...
