Heart Garden Thank You with Lawn Fawn and Mama Elephant

Hello crafty friends and welcome to my very last post for this term on the BRI design team! I had a blast creating all these cards for you and am so thankful for this experience. Huge thanks to Vanessa for blessing me with this opportunity (again)! So I wanted to make a thank you card as my last card! I looove the new Heart Garden Border from Lawn Fawn's latest release, especially since I can use it for other occasions besides Valentine's Day. I combined it with the Big Thank You So Much from Mama Elephant and the adorable Bicycle Built for You set from Lawn Fawn. I cut out the background panel from Lawn Fawn paper using the Mama Elephant Cloud Nine die.  A note about the sentiment: I ink blended pink cardstock, then I cut out the sentiment. I like ink blending first because I find it hard to ink blend narrow paper like the letters in this sentiment. I also get a more even gradient this way. Supplies used: Lawn Fawn Bicycle Built for You ( coordinating dies ) Lawn Fawn He...

Everything Nice Holiday Card with the BRI Moodboard

Hello crafty friends! Are you still scrambling to make your holiday cards? Today I'm sharing a simple design that can be created quickly! (and when I say "quickly" I mean an hour or two hahaha! You know what I'm talkin' about!) I am using this month's BRI Moodboard for my color inspiration. Be sure to enter your creations for a chance to win $20 to the BRI store!  I used a mix of Mama Elephant and Concord & 9th products. The honeycomb quilt top die  has so many possibilities and I had fun figuring out how to arrange my Little Agenda images on the background. You can even use this design for other occasions-- just swap out the images! The gold from the moodboard was slipped in with my heat embossed sentiment. I like how the bit of black contrasts against the white background and colorful hexagons. Supplies used: Mama Elephant Little Penguin Agenda ( coordinating dies) Mama Elephant Little Snowman Agenda ( coordinating dies ) Mama Elephant Everything Nic...

Christmas Shaker Card with Mama Elephant

Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing a cute and simple holiday shaker card! This little card was pretty quick to put together and my favorite part of the card is the felt bow! Bows always make everything cuter! To make the shaker, I die cut several of the hexatag snowdrift frames and stacked them together. I prefer the cardstock stacking method for shaker frames because you can customize the depth of your shaker well this way. I ink blended a quick background on the solid hexagon piece and glued on the vellum trees. After gluing the shaker well onto the hexagon background, I used my powder tool to remove any stickiness and static. I added the shaker bits, acetate, and finally the top frame. Don't forget to stamp your sentiment on before assembling the shaker!  There is a snowflake on the reindeer's sign... if you squint you can see it😆! (In real life, you can definitely see it...) You can put all sorts of things in the signs. I think the Mama Elephant set Holiday Bitties...

Cute Holiday Penguins

Hi crafty friends! Christmas is almost here so these adorable Sunny Studio penguins are busy getting ready for the holidays!  The penguins under the mistletoe actually come from a non-holiday set but I thought they would be perfect for the little mistletoe scene. My favorite penguin is the little guy with antlers enjoying the warm mug of cocoa! These Sunny Studio penguins are just the cutest! After cutting out the pieces for the center picture window card, I made my own patterned paper with the snow stamp from the Lawn Fawn set Window Scene: Winter and Lawn Fawn kiddie pool ink. I went with a pink and aqua color theme-- very non-traditional holiday colors but I just love them together! I used some kitsch flamingo Distress oxide ink to add a bit of color to the inside panels and to stamp the sentiments.  Supplies used: Lawn Fawn Center Picture Window dies Lawn Fawn Center Picture Window Add On dies Sunny Studios Penguin Party  (coordinating dies available here )...

Oh So Merry (and cute) Kitty Tree!

Hello crafty friends! **Quick reminder: TODAY is the last day of the BLACK FRIDAY/CYBER MONDAY sale at BRI! 25% off most everything! So be sure to shop shop shop!** Today I'm sharing this simple card featuring the kitty tree from Mama Elephant! Who can resist a pile of cute critters? Mama Elephant has the cutest critter trees and you are sure to find one that you love! They started with the kitties 😸 and now they have puppies  🐶, penguins 🐧, gnomes 🍄, and the newest one has all the critters 😍! So you can definitely make a card with this same design but feature a different critter tree! For the background, I used the new magic snow cover die from Mama Elephant and ink blended it with distress oxides.  I colored the kitty tree with Copic markers and cut it out with the coordinating dies. Finally, I heat embossed the sentiment with some sparkly embossing powder and Versafine ink. Supplies used: Mama Elephant Oh Kitty Tree (and dies ) Mama Elephant Everything Nice...

Build a HOWLiday Snowman with Lawn Fawn

Hi crafty friends! It is time to crank out the HOWL-iday cards! Today's card features some cute Lawn Fawn puppies building a snowman! (Look out, one mischievous puppy grabbed an arm! And don't forget the mittens, little puppers!) I colored up the images and also the snowman die cuts with Copic markers. It's hard to see but I added some prisma glitter to the snowman and Santa hat. For the background, I used the Lawn Fawn snowfall backdrop die with patterned paper. You can't tell in the picture but I added flocking to my snow drift for extra fluffy fun. And finally, I used a glitter pen to color in some of the falling snowflakes.  Supplies used: Lawn Fawn Build-A-Snowman Lawn Fawn Furry and Bright (and dies ) Lawn Fawn Joy to All  (and  dies ) Lawn Fawn Cheery Christmas (and dies ) - for the hat Lawn Fawn Snowfall Backdrop: Landscape Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes Rainbow 6x6 paper Lawn Fawn Everyday Sentiment Banners Lawn Fawn Extra Sentiment Banners Lawn Fawn Prisma ...

Pumpkin Basket Easy Pull Tab Card

Hi crafty friends and happy November! I wanted to share one last fall/Thanksgiving card before launching into Christmas cards. I just love the recently released Concord & 9th Freshly Picked dies and stamp set ! It is such a cute and versatile set and the interactive option is seriously the easiest one I have ever made! I cut out all the pieces for the basket and pumpkins from colored cardstock. For the wooden basket, I used kraft cardstock and ink blended the edges for some interest with gathered twigs Distress Ink. I thought it would be fun to have some cute critters hanging out with the pumpkins and the Lawn Fawn mice were perfect for this little scene. I used a small sign stamp from Mama Elephant The Cat's Meow for the "pick me" so the recipient knows to pull the pumpkin for the interactive feature. For the sentiment on the banner and pull tab, I used the sentiments from the coordinating Freshly Picked stamp set. Since I made this a fall themed card with pumpkin...

Harry Potter Interactive Card

Hi crafty friends! I know Harry Potter themed cards can be made year round, but there's something about October that feels extra Harry Potter-y! Last year, I made this Harry Potter card and my stamp sets got a workout 😂. This year, I went a bit simpler because I had this vision of an interactive card featuring my interpretation of the dragon scene in Goblet of Fire!  I created this mini slimline card using a mix of products from Mama Elephant and Lawn Fawn. The background is a first for me-- I drew and colored the stones and fence with Copic markers. (I was inspired by this Sandy Allnock Instagram post and then watched this Sandy Allnock YouTube video and thought I would attempt a custom Copic colored background. YouTube makes you think you can do anything!😂 Definitely not professional level but it was good enough for me!) The rocks in the foreground were cut out with a Mama Elephant die and then ink blended with Distress Oxides. I used foam tape to pop up the rocks to ...

Spell-cial Halloween Card with Lawn Fawn

Hi crafty friends! Today's card features a fun scene using Lawn Fawn stamps. These cats are up to something with their potions, spell book, and cauldron full of gummy worms! (But look! One worm got away!)  I am loving these night skies with glowing moons so for the background, I masked off the moon and used some purple Distress Oxide inks to make the glow around it. I darkened the sky up with chipped sapphire and black soot Oxides as well. I used the new Lawn Fawn Night Time Sky stencil to create the moon craters with some manatee ink. I splattered water and black soot ink and then cut the panel out with the Mama Elephant Cloud Nine die. Finally, I finished off the background with birch trees and ground cut out of black cardstock.  I used Copic markers to color in the images and popped some of them up with foam tape. The sentiment was white heat embossed on purple cardstock (a first for me! I don't think I have ever used purple cardstock for a sentiment strip before!). S...

Feline Spooky with Paperie Ink

Hi crafty friends! Today I have a spooky cute card featuring Paperie Ink stamps! Their stamps are super adorable and I'm so excited that BRI carries them (click  HERE  to shop)! I love the little mice in the pumpkins! And the little toilet paper mummy cat cracks me up! I made this card for my crafty friend Peggy (follow her on  IG @peggyemmerink ) and it was so fun to make! For the background, I masked off the moon and ink blended the night sky. Then I used the Honey Bee stencil to add the moon craters, tree, bats, and fence. To make the grass, I ink blended white cardstock with pine needles and black soot Distress Oxides. Finally, I used Distress Micro Glaze to finish and seal the background. Supplies used: Paperie Ink Happy Haunting Honey Bee Trick or Treat stencils Sunny Studio Picket Fence die  (for the grass) Distress Oxides:  tumbled glass ,  blueprint sketch ,  chipped sapphire ,  black soot ,  pumice stone ,  pine need...

Boo! Happy Halloween!

Hi crafty friends! Happy October! Today I have a colorful Halloween card that features Lawn Fawn stamps! Before I get into today's card, I have a friendly PSA: if you are about to recreate the colors of candy corn, double check on Google to make sure you have the colors in the correct order before creating the entire background and sticking it permanently onto your card base. (Ask me how I know, ha! Sigh... 😂) And now onto my card! For the background, I stamped the images with the different inks to create a tone on tone look. I mounted the panel onto a piece of fun foam and then glued it onto the black sparkle card base. I had created my own sparkly black cardstock by taping a border around the edges and then covering the sticky tape with embossing powder. (I knew I was going to adhere a panel in the middle so I only needed a border of sparkle.) After heat setting it, the cardstock looked like it was glitter cardstock.  To create the focal sentiment, I die cut the "B" ...

Jump for Joy Wiggly Wobble Card!

Hi crafty friends! Have you ever made an action wobble card? It's been around for a while and it's a simple concept-- stick an image on a wobbly spring and watch it wiggle jiggle! This cute hedgehog from the oldie-but-goodie Lawn Fawn set Jump for Joy was perfect for my wobbly card today! You can buy action wobble springs or you can make your own! Here is a short video tutorial I made so you can make your very own action wobble.  I love the idea of jumping into a pile of fall leaves, but where I live, most of our trees do not change colors and I don't get to make big piles of leaves. So I will just make a fall birthday card about it! There are several stamp sets out there with lovely leaf pile stamps (like Mama Elephant's Jump for Joy ) but I decided to use masking to create my own big pile of leaves. I colored all the images with Copic markers, and then I fussy cut the leaves and die cut the hedgehog. For the background, I first ink blended the sky with Distress ox...

Thankful Car Critters

Hi crafty friends! Today I am sharing a quick and simple fall card featuring Lawn Fawn Car Critters . These cute critters are coming home from visiting the pumpkin patch! They are so thankful that they were able to find the perfect pumpkin! My favorite thing about this card is the license plate! I was so excited that the sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Booyah fit (with some clever masking). The fall sunset sky and grass were cut from patterned papers I had in my stash, but you can get a similar watercolored look with  Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes paper . Using patterned papers really helps with fast and easy cards! Supplies used: Lawn Fawn Car Critters (and dies ) Lawn Fawn Coaster Critters (and dies ) - for the fox Lawn Fawn Costume Party (and dies ) - for the pumpkin Lawn Fawn Booyah - for the license plate word Lawn Fawn Simple Stitched Hillside Borders Lawn Fawn Jump for Joy - for sentiment MFT Modern Trees (and dies ) -- You can get a similar look with Lawn Fawn Simple S...

Halloween Wishes boxcard with Davina

Hello crafty friends! I thought I’d pop in here with a cute Halloween Boxcard using the latest Pretty Pink Posh release. It’s so fun and easy to create a full boxcard using the MFT stamps Outside the Box Level Up die sets. I love to stamps tons of images and put them all in and around the cute box cards.  For this Spooky treat I cut and assembled the box from thick sturdy black cardstock, and cut some grass and hill inserts from scraps strips of patterned and glitter paper that I had on my desk. I cut the stitched background arch from some bristol smooth cardstock, then used the  Layered Candy Corn Stencil  from Pretty Pink Posh with  Carved Pumpkin ,  Kitsch Flamingo , and  Antique Linen  distress oxides. I distressed the edge of the cut out and splattered black ink onto the panel. Next, I added a PPP ...

Back to School Pop Up Box Card

Hi crafty friends! Ahhh, it's that time of year again-- the smell of new crayons, the feel of a freshly sharpened Dixon Ticonderoga pencil gliding across wide ruled paper, and the morning rush to get out the door on time... it's back to school time!  I made this pop up box card to celebrate this glorious time of year using several Mama Elephant stamp sets and the Lawn Fawn box card pop up die. I colored the images with Copic markers and cut them out with their coordinating dies. I tried to turn the bear image into a panda because pandas are a favorite animal here in my home.  For one of the side panels, I thought it would be fun to cut out one panel from actual lined notebook paper for the cat with the pencil and then I wrote on it with a pencil.  To create the background, I cut out a box panel from gray cardstock and used a brick stencil with Distress Oxide ink. For the floors, I used a woodgrain stamp with Versamark ink on kraft cardstock. I heat embossed the sent...

Shrinky Dinks Ocean Shaker Card

Hi crafty friends! I have become a bit obsessed with making shrinky dink shaker bits for shaker cards! For today's card, I used some Clearly Besotted stamp sets from the July release. The colors are inspired by the August BRI mood board and are perfect for my underwater scene!  I colored with Copic markers and fussy cut all the images, then added Nuvo drops all over the swimming cat's helmet to give it shine. To create the background, I did some ink smooshing with Distress inks on watercolor paper. It was a lot of fun and I can't believe I don't ink smoosh more often!  Now for the super fun part, shrinky dinks! If you would like a quick tutorial on making shrinky dink shaker bits, check out this video I made for a different shrinky dink shaker card (I used the same technique for this card). And here is the non-video explanation: I used "frosted" or pre-sanded shrinky dink plastic and stamped the images on the sanded side. (For the shells, I masked off the ...

Birthday Dragon Slider Card

Hi crafty friends! It's Jenn and I am so excited and grateful to be back again designing for Butterfly Reflections Ink this term! Shameless plug for the store and Vanessa: I love how BRI carries SO. MANY. crafty brands and that Vanessa has been working her heart out through thick and thin... especially right now as she is working on regaining her health! So please remember Vanessa and check out BRI for all your crafty needs! Okay, onto my card for today! I love it when a new product is super versatile and can go with many of my already loved sets like the Mama Elephant In the Clouds cover die that was released back in May. I immediately thought of all the balloon/flying/airplane type of sets that I have that would work well with this cover die. **Add to cart!** 😂  I used distress oxides to ink up the sky ( tumbled glass ) and the MFT Ray of Light stencil for the sunburst (distress oxides: squeezed lemonade , dried marigold ). Then I splattered broken china distress ink to creat...

Mothers Day Bri Moodboard Inspiration

Hello crafty friends! Davina here on the blog with fun Mothers Day card I created using some wonderfully  tropical products in the shop, and the May BRI Moodboard colors. All of the items I used are in stock at the  Butterfly Reflections Ink website.   Once again Amanda had gifted us a beautiful Moodboard to inspire our creativity. Rose Water, Aurora Magenta, Marine Green, and Tropic Canary. The jewel tones of this months colors scream tropics to me, so I made a tropical scene. That amazing Fantastic Fronds   slimline cover plate is from Trinity Stamps, and I only used one, small yet mighty, cute stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh called  Tropical Toucans .  I used some heavy weight cardstock to make my slimline base for my card. Next, I cut the 4 inch remaining piece of cardstock with my  Fantastic Fronds   slimline coverplate. On a piece of 3.5 X 8.5 Bristol Smooth Cardstock I blended  Lucky Clover,   Mowed Lawn,  and  Twis...
