Back to School Mini Cards

Hi crafty friends! Jenn here with my first post and I am so excited and grateful to be part of the BRI Design Team this term!  When I think of fall, the first thing I think about is back to school. I can't help it--I was a high school teacher so the end of summer signaled excitement about the new year (and to be honest, a slight sense of dread, am I right teacher friends out there?!😆). With everything going on and all of the changes happening in schools, I have even more respect and appreciation for teachers, and that is what inspired this set of mini cards I am sharing with you today. I stamped out these super cute images from the School Rules set by Mama Elephant  with MFT black ink and colored them with Copic markers  (I will list the colors I used at the very end of this post). Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. The sentiments on the chalkboards were heat embossed with white embossing powder. To create the background, I used a brick stencil and festive berri

Splashing awesome with Peter

Hi everyone! My term on the BRI design team comes to an end. This will not mean I will be completely gone, because I will pop-up once in a while. But I'm sharing my 'last' card in my term with you today. This time I played around with some Heffy Doodle. The images are so incredibly cute, I just had to make a card with them. I started with imagining how I want my (mini) scene to look like. I mostly used images from Highland Honeys , I only used the cloud and the sentiment from other sets. The cloud is from Fluffy Puffy Unicorns , I stamped that out with Memento London Fog by the way, I always love when clouds have a softer feel. The sentiment is from Pebble Sentiments , that set is amazing! I picked one out that I stamped with Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers using my Misti . I stamped it a few times till I got a nice and crisp impression. I picked a fun patterned paper that I cut with the Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables from Lawn Fawn. With the Outside In Stitched Rec

Oh Hoppy Day with Aug BRI Moodboard

Hello crafty friends! Davina here on the blog with some BRI Moodboard color inspiration. The cool toned August colors are super dreamy consisting of pistachio, sky, magenta, and eggplant. At first I felt a little hesitant until I realized that that these are colors I use on their own all the time. I have a pile of super adorable  Paperie Ink Stamps  that are unused so I flipped through looking for something that I would color light green and the cute froggies from  Oh Hoppy Day  caught my eye.  I stamped several of the super cute frogs, lotus flowers, and lily pads onto my Neenah solar bright cardstock, and got to work. I colored the images with copic markers, using colors from the Moodboard, then I carefully fussy cut out each image. Once they were cut out I added my white dot highlights.  Next I used the new Lawn Fawn  Simple Stripe Portrait die  to cut a piece of white and black cardstock. I assembled the alternating colors onto a trimmed A2 panel with liquid glue. I cut a smaller s

Koalafied for a hug! with Peter

Hi everyone! It's Peter here. I'm back with another card for you! This time, I used something old and something new from Lawn Fawn. I combined the older I Love You(calyptus) set with it's new sibling, the I Love You(calyptus) Flip-Flop . The two koala's can be combined together so it looks like they are hugging and it's adorable! I used two different stripes for the background. The stripes that are all across the card are made with the new genius Plaid Stencil . You can make perfectly cute plaid patterns with it, but as you can see it's also great for just some striping. I used Distress Oxide in the colors Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron to blend a gradient in the stripes. The panels are both cut with my all-time favorite basic dies; the Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables .  With the help of some gold watercolors and some green  foil , I gave it just that little bit extra flair! The smaller striped panel is cut out of a patterned paper from the Really Rainbo

Some Bunny Loves You

Happy Saturday, Everyone! I'm so excited to be back on the BRI blog today. I have a cute spring-themed, slimline card to share with you today. My card features the bunnies from Mama Elephant's Up With Love stamp set. You may notice that one of the bunnies is facing the opposite direction. I was able to do this with a trick called mirror stamping. There are a lot of different ways to do mirror stamping, but I used the Waffle Flower Mini Media Mat . I used black pigment ink, and I did that for two reasons. First, I thought it would give the best result. And second, I had planned to color the bunnies with my Zig clean color real brush markers. I put the stamp on an acrylic block, inked it up, and then stamped it right onto the media mat. I then took a piece of Bristol smooth card stock and carefully pressed it onto the mat, smoothing my hand over it to get a good impression. I lifted the paper, and voila - I had my mirror image!  I colored all of the bunnies using the same gray

Hello, Spring!

Hi There! Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. I'm super excited to be sharing this card today, as I am totally in love with all things floral! Altenew recently came out with this Floral Arrangement stamp set , and I had so much fun using it for today's card. I stamped out the floral images on white cardstock, using various Altenew ink cube sets: Cherry Blossom , Deep Blue Seas , Tropical Forest , and Pocketful of Sunshine .  I also used the matching dies to cut out the inages and then I set them aside to work on the background panel. I used the Layered Dahlia stencils from Altenew and a couple colors from the Pocketful of Sunshine ink set to do the background. I wanted the background to be a little more subtle than the stamped floral images, so I used stencil brushes to apply the ink over the stencils. Do you ever dig through your embellishment drawer on a regular basis? I always forget that I have all these washi tapes, ribbons, twines, buttons, etc

Sephia Birthday Wishes

Hi, friends! Crystal here today with a stenciled card featuring  Winnie & Walter products and Altenew. For this week's blog post I wanted to create an elegant birthday card without my "go-to" black and white. As mentioned earlier this beauty is a combo of two wonderful companies. Winnie & Walter "birthday" die cut, and "happy" stamped sentiment. From Altenew I have the Floral Fantasy stamped in Altenew Crisp Dye Inks in Green Fields. Also from Altenew is the Layered Kaleidoscope Stencil B blended with Altenew Crisp Dye in Mocha.  To make this, I began with a beige card base. Next, I stenciled it with A ltenew Layered Kaleidsocope B. I proceeded to spray this with gold watercolor from Gansai Tambi. Once that was dried, I stamped the "happy" from Winnie & Walter's Happy Birthday to You in gold embossing powder. The "birthday" is die cut from Winnie & Walter In A Word: Birthday Cutaway . This was l

Have a Rockin' Birthday!

Good morning, Jessica here with a masculine birthday card featuring fun products from My Favorite Things! I started off by dabbing a little Black Soot Distress Ink onto my craft sheet and mixed it with Dreamweaver Embossing Paste  to create a gray paste.  I used the custom embossing paste color with the  My Favorite Things Equalizer Stencil  on a panel of black cardstock.  I actually misplaced the stencil and it ended up slightly crooked....but it was exactly the shade of grey I was looking for and I knew if I tried to replicate the color I'd be unsuccessful.  So I just decided to go with the flow and off set the whole card! ;) While the embossing paste was still wet I sprinkled it with a little silver glitter but the pieces seemed too big and wouldn't stick so I sprinkled it with silver glitter embossing powder and it stuck!  I never heat-set the paste, just let it dry naturally!  While it was drying I stamped the 'Have a Rockin'' sentiment from Keep on

Nothing but blue skies ahead

Hi all!   Angel here with a CAS card using a sentiment but the lovely Blue Skies Ahead set by MFT. The clouds were done by using the Cloudy Day stencil and some embossing paste. I sponged on some lemon drop ink around the sentiment and added a few enamel dots.  I also rounded one corner of the card base for balance.  Can't get much more Clean And Simple!  :) Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs~ Angel

You & Me

Raise your hands if you love to get inky! While they're up there, check em' out to see if they're covered/stained with ink. Sometimes I come away from a card looking a bit like a rainbow threw up on me. This card was one of them but it was worth it.  I wanted to play around with some of the new lovey-dovey type goodies in the shop, so I pulled out the Background Hearts Mixables Stencil by My Favorite Things , paired it with some of their inks, and a custom sentiment using a Lawn Fawn alphabet.  After taping the stencil over top of my piece of paper, I masked off the hearts carefully so I could get each one a different colour using Razzle Berry , Blu Raspberry , and Grape Jelly inks. For the hearts that I left ink-free, I traced them using a Memento Tuxedo Black marker .  I hand cut a banner from white cardstock and stamped my sentiment using a Lawn Fawn alphabet set . On a scrap piece of white cardstock I inked up two more hearts, cut them out, and scored t

A wild Hello

Hi all!  Angel here with a fun Hello card!  Wow, I just realized this card has NO stamping!  That cool zebra background was done by sponging with a stencil.  The phone and 'Hello' are from the Smart Phone Dies by MFT.  I cut out the phone once from white card stock, then again using silver foil card stock - just wanted a bit of extra dimension.  I used a couple of stars from the Tinsel & Co sequin pack    with a bling added to the centers for extra interest.  :) Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Angel

Embellishing Wooden Veneers with Video Tutorial

Hello! Today I have a card and video featuring lots of fun goodies from the Butterfly Reflections Ink store . After the video I'll include links to the various products you can find in the shop. I was so excited to find these wood veneers from Chic Tags in my DT package because they pair so perfectly with this Sun Ray Stencil from My Favorite Things . For the vellum and cardstock layers I used the Stitched Rectangle Stackables from Lawn Fawn . These dies add just the right detail and I am addicted to using them. To alter the wood veneers I used embossing powder and finished it with a sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Life is Good . With so many new items added to the shop lately I encourage you to pair the things you have been coveting with the new items to reach the $60 free shipping threshold.

Head in the clouds card...

Hello crafty friends! This is Kristy and today I'm here to show you a quick and cute card I made using one of the Butterfly Reflections ink exclusive stamp sets, Head in the clouds stamp set . This weekend I attended a very fun event with lots of crafty celebrities and goodies! One of the teachers was the fabulous, Paula Cheney ! She brought a TON of Tim Holtz products and gifts for us!!! One of the techniques in her class included the mini distress ink pads and blending tool, and she encouraged me to get mine out and use them with stencils! So that's what started the inspiration for this card! Here's a picture of some of our group with Paula (1st on the left, and I'm the 2nd to last on the right): Here's what I used: Head in the Clouds stamp set Multi Medium Matte Super Fine Silver Embossing powder Ranger Mini Ink Blending foam and brushes TH Mini Distress Inks, Peacock Feathers Paper Smooches Spectrum Dies TCW Mini Clouds stencil VersaMark ink (I
