Valentine Wishes

Good Morning! It is  Dana  here today with a Valentine's Day card using a stencil and stamp set from  MFT Stamps. Let's get started, shall we? I started my card by ink blending my background with  Ranger Distress Oxide Ink.  I used  Candied Apple,   Picked Raspberry,  and  Wilted Violet.   Next, I layed the  MFT Stamps: Lots of Heart Stencil  over my ink blended background.  Then, I added the same three colors of ink over the stencil, adding my hearts to my background. Next, I misted my background with water. I let my background dry for a few minutes, and then I added  Translucent Embossing Pastel  over my stencil.  While my background was still wet, I removed the stencil and added  Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter in Ice White . This gave my background amazing sparkle and shine!! Perfect for Valentine's Day.  For my sentiment, I used the  MFT Stamps: Valentine Wishes Stamp Set . I kept my sentiment rather simple, letting my background be

Mom, You are all I knead Lawn Fawn card

Hi, it's Mona here! Yesterday was Mother's Day in Slovakia, so I made a sweet card for this occasion. I created my card with non Mother's Days themed Lawn Fawn stamps.  First I made the background with Puffy Cloud Borders Lawn Cuts and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Ink. Instead of using a 2nd piece of paper cloud I made a glittery shimmery part with Chunky Glitter and Glossy Accents . Maybe it's not so visible on the photos, but in live it looks like a glitter epoxy! :) To the center I made a small circle with Outside In Stitched Circle Stackables Lawn Cuts and Outside In Stitched Scalloped Circle Stackables . The "MOM" alphas are leftovers from Speech Bubbles Lawn Cuts .  Now it was time to stamp my images from Sweet Friends , Baked with Love , Happy Village and Easter Party Lawn Fawn stamp sets and fussy cut them. After coloring the "mom" and "children", I glued to their back their legs and arms from Sweet Friends stamp s

Pretty in pink (and purple)

Hi Everyone! It's Jenny here, and I'm taking a break from Christmas today (gasp!) to bring you two cards which use a cool stencil technique involving glitter paste, stencils and ink blending.  You don't even need layering stencils to create this look.  For my first card, I used a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and taped it to a craft mat.  I then used Distress Oxide inks in Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry and blended them over the A ltenew Layered Dahlia Stencil A using a mini ink blending tool. I removed the stencil and applied  Stencil B , making sure to line it up (it's easy to do). I applied  Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone .  This is my favorite Nuvo Glimmer Paste. It's clear with lots of iridescent sparkle. I found whne i applied it over the Oxides, it almost appeared to take on the colour it was applied over.  Very cool look!  I trimmed down the panel when dry and popped it up on a pale rose cardbase, lined with strips of rose gold

Have a Merry Christmas Deer!

Hi everyone, Jenny here.  I hope you're all having a wonderful Thanksgiving for those of you that celebrate it.   I'm certainly looking forward to stuffing my face with Turkey later!! This week I have not one but two cards, using the most wonderful christmas/wintery/fall type background stamp I think that ever existed (note: opinions are my own and in no way reflect the views or opinions of Butterfly Reflections Ink ☺☺☺☺).  It's the Hero Arts Forest and Deer Background stamp.  This was released I think early this year, but honestly it's so versatile and impactful, you just gotta get it! To create the cards I used Distress Oxide Ink in Iced Spruce.   I used Oxide for two reasons - one, I'm stamping on dark green cardstock and the Oxides act more like pigment ink (they're opaque) and show up really well on dark cardstock.   And 2) they stay sticky long enough to heat emboss without adding any additional embossing ink. I inked up the background st

Pretty as a Peacock!

Hi everyone, Jenny here, back with another glittery card (I can't help it, I've become a glitter addict).  This time I wanted to show some alternative ways to use more of your glittery supplies, to expand the options available to you.   First off I created my card panel by using a stencil (here I used the Hero Arts Peacock Feather Stencil ) and Distress Clear Rock Candy Stickles to create a subtle shimmer on the background.  After I discovered my love of Nuvo Glimmer Paste (which Butterfly Reflections Ink carries) I wanted to see if I could expand the color selection available to me by trying to use Stickles in the same way as Stickles comes in so many more colors.    A few notes on using Stickles in lieu of embossing paste: 1) It's not as gooey - so you end up using more than you would use with the paste.  Given the containers are small you would go through your stash pretty quickly.  However the effect it gives is very pretty and a great look for smaller

Glimmering Thanks

Hi Everyone! It's Jenny here with you again, and this time I have some gorgeous sparkling goodness for you to feast your eyes upon.  Honestly I wish you could see this card in real life - when it catches the light, the shine and sparkle almost puts your eye out! :D  It was also therefore really hard to photograph... I started with a panel made from Burnished Rose Craft Perfect Mirror Card by Tonic.  I was going for all out bling on this card, so why not start with mirror cardstock?  I adhered the hearts stencil from the gorgeous  Fall Showers stencil set by Honeybee Stamps  to the front using some painters tape.  This is a set of three stencils, and also includes raindrops and snow / dots.  You'll be seeing them again on future cards. To create the hearts you see here, I applied  Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone  over the stencil using a  palette knife .  This is a clear medium with gorgeous, iridescent glitter, and sparkles with any color that hits it.  It leaves love

Pumpkin Spice Fall Leaves

Hi everyone, It's Jenny here and I'm back with another fall/autumn themed card, despite the fact that the weather here in New York is glorious and super hot!  (Seems like we are getting another last gasp of summer!) The card I'm showing today uses a very versatile design, and is so quick and easy.  Several of the new Carta Bella stencils in stock, or many of the repeating pattern stencils could be used for this technique, and with so many Nuvo Mousse colors and glitter colours, the sky is the limit!! The stencil I used today is the Carta Bella Fall Leaves stencil.  I love the all over pattern this creates, and the detail in the leaves is fabulous.  Stencils are one of my favorite card making supplies as there are so many ways to use them and they're great on the wallet. To create this card I took a white card panel (I used sturdier cardstock 110lb) trimmed to slightly smaller than an A2 size card.  I taped it down to a craft mat and then lay the stencil ove

Unicorns and Stars

Hi everyone, Jenny here with a fun and crazy card for all you unicorn and glitter fans today.  I'm playing with the wonderful Unicorn Dreams set by PinkFresh Studio.   I love the imagery in this set - it feels like a unicorn set for adults :D To create my card, I first created a watercolor background. I spritzed a piece of watercolor paper with water until it was pretty wet and shiny.  I then used Derwent's Graphik line marker  paint pens to create the background.  You can achieve a similar look with Color Bursts too, which Butterfly Reflections Ink carries in the shop.   I basically flicked on color with the marker, letting it bleed out in wonderful feathery bursts.   I let it do its thing and left it to dry. Once dry, I used Heidi Swapp's Minc Reactive Mist  and flicked a few drops across the dried watercolor panel.  This is a somewhat thick liquid like a spray paint (but thicker) that you can FOIL when it is dry.  Once it dried I ran the piece through my Min

Make A Wish...

Hi crafty friends!   Kari  here today once again to share another project for BRI, and I think I made the most "girly" card possible... This card features the adorable set from MFT called  Fairy Happy , and of course there are  Coordinating dies  for this set as well.  What I love about MFT dies is there isn't any dies that are nested within one another.  I love how they do this with their manufacturing. From this set, I chose to color both of the fairies, as well as one of the flower clusters, and I colored them in with my Copic Markers - I used several colors - RV02, RV13, RV14, RV34, R20, E11, E13, E25, E09, G24, G19, YG03, YG21, BG10, and BG11.   To create my background, I used the  Dazzle  Layering Die set from Birch Press, and die cut some  Raspberry  card stock,  Cilantro  card stock as well as some Silver Sparkle card stock to create the three layers.  I love how all three of these layered together - like I said - very girly!!   For my sentime

December Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board. Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. I broke out the decorations early this year so I could enjoy it as long as possible! I LOVE mixed metals, especially when it comes to Christmas decor! That was my inspiration for this month's board. I like to think of it as a little modernized version of traditional Christmas colors ;-) Chartreuse, Red, Silver and Champagne Image Sources: Pinterest Are you inspired by this month's colors? We'd love to see what you create! Link us to your project in the comments below!
