Say Yes To The Vest

Hey, there BRI fans!  Kathy here to share a fun card that is perfect for Father's Day or any masculine card.  If you're like me, guy cards are always such a challenge, but using Sunny Studio Designs Sweater Vest Dies makes it easy and fun! For my first Sweater Vest card, I used Lawn Fawn cardstock in White , Chocolate Bar and Kraft .  The vest front was embossed with Sunny Studio Dapper Diamonds embossing folder to add texture.  The tie was cut from Sunny Studio Gingham Jewel Tones pattern paper. For my next Sweater Vest card, I used Lawn Fawn cardstock in White and Noble Fir . The vest front was created using  Sunny Studio Dapper Diamonds embossing folder and the tie/diamond cuts were made from  Sunny Studio Gingham Jewel Tones 6x6 paper pad . Hope you'll follow us via email/blog , Facebook and/or Instagram so you won't miss any projects the design team shares...not to mention, you'll be among the first to hear about deals and specials!

Masculine card with Viktor the Viking

Hi guys! Erica back on the BRI blog today, with a new-to-me stamp and a I-need-more-practice medium: coloured pencils! This cute little... oops, I mean, strong and brawny Viking stamp from MFT Stamps , which I have nicknamed Viktor) has been sitting in my stash for a while. This last weekend he was banging on and on about wanting to be put to use (or that might have been all in my imagination... 🤪) so I thought why not? As usual, I also decided to make things dramatic by using a medium I’m really not very confident with...! The key thing with coloured pencils is patience, which I have no problem admitting I’m not possessing a huge amount of so things were due to be interesting, shall we say?? LOL! Anyway, I got out some Strathmore Bristol Smooth Surface pencil card stock (this I purchased by mistake, thinking it was Bristol Vellum. What a happy accident!) and I stamped up the brawny, not cute, Viking with MFT Grout Gray hybrid ink. The pencils I used are the Polochromos and whi

Have a Merry Christmas Deer!

Hi everyone, Jenny here.  I hope you're all having a wonderful Thanksgiving for those of you that celebrate it.   I'm certainly looking forward to stuffing my face with Turkey later!! This week I have not one but two cards, using the most wonderful christmas/wintery/fall type background stamp I think that ever existed (note: opinions are my own and in no way reflect the views or opinions of Butterfly Reflections Ink ☺☺☺☺).  It's the Hero Arts Forest and Deer Background stamp.  This was released I think early this year, but honestly it's so versatile and impactful, you just gotta get it! To create the cards I used Distress Oxide Ink in Iced Spruce.   I used Oxide for two reasons - one, I'm stamping on dark green cardstock and the Oxides act more like pigment ink (they're opaque) and show up really well on dark cardstock.   And 2) they stay sticky long enough to heat emboss without adding any additional embossing ink. I inked up the background st

Masculine ampersand

:D I just loved using this ampersand symbol for a graphic masculine wedding card - it's a unique wedding, so I thought we'd stray a bit from the normal wedding card you might think about! The wedding is a self proclamation wedding; I had never heard of one until last week - see, you learn something new all the time! I stamped, 2nd generation, the  watercolor background stripes from Right at Home in MFT Grout Gray; then I added multiple ampersand signs in Steel Grey, Grout Gray, Berrylicious and Blu Raspberry . I stamped the "Celebrate" from Right at Home's Script Greetings in Steel Grey, then embossed the additional sentiment on Hawaiian Shores with Ranger white embossing powder . I felt it got a little lost, so I mounted it on a strip of MFT Black and White designer pape r and a small strip of white striped acetate. I finished the inside off with a 'Mr. & Mrs.', 'Congratulations' sentiment and carried that over to the envelo

Happy Purrthday (Masculine Card)

Hey friends, it's Christy here! Today I have a cute masculine card for my little guy's birthday. He absolutely loves cats, so I just had to make him a card with Lawn Fawn's Meow You Doin'? .  So I have a couple of tips that I always adhere to when making boy cards: use bright, primary colors, simple shapes (in this case I used circles and stripes), and little to no embellishments. For some reason boys just typically don't go for the froo from stuff! ;) Bearing that in mind, I colored my images with Copic markers and cut them out with the  matching dies . I layered them on top of my focal panel, from the  Shimelle Little By Little 6x6 pad  die cut with one of the   MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangle die-namics .  I used a blue card base (his favorite color) accented with strips of red cardstock. I added just the teensiest bit of embellishment by die cutting the cross-stitched pattern into the bottom strip with one of the  Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders . And f

Masculine Valentine

Hi all!  Angel here with a masculine valentine card for you!  Now, I realize Coralynn just showed you a card using this set two days ago and to that I say, Great Minds Think Alike!  Ha!  I mean, how adorable is this whale from the Lawn Fawn What you be mine stamp set ?!  Love him and that fun sentiment!  I inked up my craft mat steel grey and blueberry inks, spritzed with water, then smushed my watercolor paper on top of the ink blob.  I zapped it with my heat gun {because I'm impatient}, then stamped the whale and used the matching dies to die cut it.  I inked up the words to the sentiment individually so I could stack them up.  That fun little strip of dp is from the 6x6 As You Wish paper pad  (yes, I adore that paper pad!).  I added a pink heart (from the set) above his head, a vellum fishtail flag layer (which I only adhered at the top so the bottom could curl up a bit) and some x's to the bottom of the card base.  I figured that was about as girly as I could get if I&

A Nautical Birthday

Happy HUMP Day!!!!  Danielle here with a Masculine Birthday Card.  If your like me you are in need of more masculine cards for your stash. For this card I decide to make my own background using Paper Smooches - Wicked Nauticool stamp set.  This is a great set for the guys in your life!!!   I stamped using the following inks, Hero Arts - Mid Tone Navy , Delicata Golden Glitz  Ink ,  and a few other Hero Arts colors.  The card still need a bit of color behind the hand made background paper to make it POP!  I dug out my Carta Bella - Ahoy There Paper pad....I just love this collection!  To add my Happy Birthday Sentiment, I chose the Avery Elle stamp set .  I just love the large greetings in this set to me the focal point of any card.  I just stamped it on a piece of vellum from my stash and sewed it on for some extra texture.
