Made My Day | Hello BlueBird Stamps ( Continuing a card scene from the outside to the inside )

Well, hello friends!  Kari  with you today, and I am happy to be back for today on the BRI blog!  Today I wanted to share with all of you a fun card, and give an idea on how to continue your card scene from the outside to the inside.   For today's card, I am using some adorable images from a new stamp company, Hello BlueBird.  Vanessa's shop is currently the only place that you can purchase these stamps other than the Hello Bluebird website.  That is very exciting for her shop!  This set that I have used today is called  Pig Day   I have also used a few other images from the  Springtime  set as well.   I started out my card by first die cutting a piece of smooth white card stock with a wonky stitched square die from MFT.  I used two different stencils to start out my scene.  The  Drifts and Hills Stencil  and the  Mini Cloud Edges Stencil  both from MFT.  I used Distress...

HAPPY HEART DAY!

Hi friends!!  It has been a little while since I've been on the BRI blog since my term ended in the summer of last year - first I can't believe that saying "last year" referring to 2017 has happened!  So crazy!!  Hope you all had a wonderful and joyous holiday season!!  OK - back to my post for today - I wanted to create something for what seems natural for the next holiday - which is Valentine's Day.  That is also crazy - time is super flying by!!  As soon as I saw the Valentine release from Lawn Fawn, I knew that a lot of it I wanted, and happy that I am able to share a project using some of those goodies today. First - I die cut a  scallop square tag  from Pretty Pink Posh and I stamped out the jar image from  How You Bean?  stamp set with my Jet Black ink from Lawn Fawn - this ink is Copic Marker friendly.  Then, I stamped the Conversation Hearts from the Add-on stamp set . From there, I just randomly chose soft colors...

Love You To The Core

Hi all! Happy Saturday!   Kari  with you today to share this card featuring the adorable Pure Innocence girl from My Favorite Things, and she's all about feeling the Fall Season and eating her apples!  I love this little set!  Not only it is a great set for Fall themed cards, but for Teachers as well!! I couldn't wait to ink her up and color her with my Copic markers!  I even got ambitious and paper- pieced her little jacket!!  I started out this card by die cutting a white card stock circle from the Lawn Fawn Fancy Scallop Circles dies, and stamped my main image from the MFT set  Love You To The Core , and inked it up using my favorite black ink for Copic coloring - Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink.  I did some super duper easy coloring, and then stamped this image again  - once for my mask that I will use later, and again onto a piece of pattern paper for the jacket portion of the image.  I carefully used my detail scissors to cut o...

Galaxy Background Shaker!

Hi all!  Welcome back!  Today marks my official last post for this term for the Butterfly Reflection Ink DT!  It went SO FAST!  4 months flew by, I'll tell ya!  But, I am so happy for the opportunity to design for Vanessa's shop and make some new friends too! I wanted to go out with a "bang" and create a galaxy background, but step it up and make a shaker card from it as well! I love creating galaxy backgrounds, and they really have grown in popularity!  I have created them in the past using distress inks, and my ink blending tool, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone, and create one using my  Gansai Tambi watercolor  set.  These are high quality watercolors, so much so, they intimidate me because they are so pigmented!  But, I still went for it!  You can't tell from the photo, but I added lots of color..red, orange, blue and yellow, and really all that is coming through is the yellow, but that is alright as it turn...

You're SPEC-tacular!

Welcome back friends!   Kari  with you once more to share this card featuring a new set from  The Greeting Farm  called You're Spectacular!  This set makes me happy as I, myself am a glasses wearer and what is so fun about this set is that there is different styles of glasses.   So, I took advantage of this, and used three of the different styles of glasses and created a background with it.  I first prepped my white card panel with my powder tool and I wanted to emboss these images with white embossing powder.  I randomly stamped out the glasses all over the panel, and then coated them with the embossing powder, and then used my heat tool to set the powder.  Then, I chose three colors of Distress Oxide inks to do the emboss resist technique.  I used  Twisted Citron ,  Salty Ocean  and  Wilted Violet .  I absolutely love these colors together!!  So YUMMY!!  And, these inks blend so effortlessly!...

Rainbow Sunburst with Glitter Paste Overlay

Hi my friends!   Kari  here with you today.  Rainbow's are all the rage it seems lately. I know I am certainly falling for them, and why not...they are happy and cheerful!  Well, I have featured a few rainbow projects with you since being on the DT this term, and I have another card inspired by the online card classes most recent class Rainbow Maker.  And, what is so great is you can find these products I've used over at BRI shop! I started this card by creating my focal panel with a piece of Distress Watercolor Card stock.  I knew that I was going to have a lot of moisture, so I wanted to use a thicker card stock.  I used three Distress Oxide Colors ;  Picked Raspberry ,  Fossilized Amber , and  Salty Ocean .  I started in the middle of my card stock with a circular motion  and my ink blending tool with Picked Raspberry, then Fossilized Amber, and then Salty Ocean.  It looks as if I used more colors, but when inkin...

Rainbow Clouds with Shimmer accents

Hi friends!  Kari  with you today sharing this pair of rainbow cards featuring the  Cloud Stencil  from MFT.  This stencil has quickly becoming one of my favorite stencils for sky backgrounds, or creating colorful backgrounds like these.  I love clouds...and I love rainbow, so I thought I would combine the two.  They are so easy to put together, so that is why I created a pair, but you could easily make these assembly line style and have a whole bunch ready to go, and all you would need to do is add different sentiments. I created these cards with the  Thanks Hello  die ( which is on sale currently in the shop).  You could turn these into any kind of occasion like birthday, thinking of you, even sympathy. I used several colors of Distress Inks - Abandoned Coral, Candied Apple, Scattered Straw, Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, Evergreen Bough, Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, and Wilted Violet. I did do a ...

Layered Stamping with Distress Oxides

Hi crafty friends!! Kari  with you to share this card featuring the  Budding Thanks  set from Altenew.  Their stamp sets, particular the layering sets are so beautiful, but they can be a bit intimidating.  I didn't let that stop me in purchasing this set, with its  coordinating dies .   There are many inks you could use to ink up these beautiful flowers, but I wanted to use Distress Oxide inks.  They are great for full coverage inking since there is a fusion of dye and pigment ink.   I used  Twisted Citron ,  Lucky Clover ,  Worn Lipstick , and  Candied Apple . I wanted to keep this card fairly clean and simple, because I wanted that flower to take center stage.  For my sentiment, I used the set  crafty friends  also from Altenew.  I also wanted to an "ombre" look to the sentiment as well, so I used both the Worn Lipstick and Candied Apple Distress Oxide inks to achieve that ...

A-Maze-ing Birthday!

Hi friends!  Welcome back to the BRI Blog!   Kari  with you, and I wanted to share this interactive birthday card featuring some fun products from My Favorite Things!  Who doesn't love a fun interactive birthday card, or just an interactive card in general?! This set  from MFT is awesome, and to pair it up with the fun  Maze Shapes  which you can also purchase in  black , shaker pouches , and then add one of the  Maze Spheres , you can quickly create a fun element on a card!! To start my card, I created my background with some  Distress Oxide Inks  in Candied Apple, Abandoned Coral, and Picked Raspberry, and the smaller panel with Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean.   For the panel for the maze, I die cut it with the largest of the  Pretty Pink Posh Scallop Square Tags  die set.  To create my frame for my maze element I used the  MFT Circle Shaker Window  die set with some...

You are JAWsome! ( Duh-nuh!)

Hi crafty peeps!!   Kari  with you today once again to share another card - this time we've gone to the sharks!  DUH NUH!  - teehee! Before I get into the details of my card today, I just wanted to share this funny tid bit.  It is crazy how sometimes ideas pop in my head, or I see inspiration somewhere, and once I try to get it down on paper - literally, every so often the whole thing takes a crazy turn.  Well, that is what happened for this card.  I had no intentions of creating a scene card.  I was inspired by a color pattern off of a kleenex box I have in my home.  All it was is a thick teal "watercolor" looking stripe on one end, and a bright green on the other end and white space in the middle.  So that is how I started and I wanted to add a bit of texture so I used some Tim Holtz Water color card stock.  And then... I thought more and more of what I could do...and remembered I haven't used the adorable - (and I use ...

Make A Wish...

Hi crafty friends!   Kari  here today once again to share another project for BRI, and I think I made the most "girly" card possible... This card features the adorable set from MFT called  Fairy Happy , and of course there are  Coordinating dies  for this set as well.  What I love about MFT dies is there isn't any dies that are nested within one another.  I love how they do this with their manufacturing. From this set, I chose to color both of the fairies, as well as one of the flower clusters, and I colored them in with my Copic Markers - I used several colors - RV02, RV13, RV14, RV34, R20, E11, E13, E25, E09, G24, G19, YG03, YG21, BG10, and BG11.   To create my background, I used the  Dazzle  Layering Die set from Birch Press, and die cut some  Raspberry  card stock,  Cilantro  card stock as well as some Silver Sparkle card stock to create the three layers.  I love how all three of these layered to...

Flamingo Floatie

Hi friends!   Kari  with you today to start off your Monday and Week with some  Flamingo Floatie  fun!! OK - can we talk about how adorable this set is from Neat and Tangled?!!   Everything about it is just adorable!  I love the expression on the little girl's face, and the over all way she is illustrated!  And, You can resist a flamingo floatie!  We are officially in Summer, and even though it is not my favorite season, ( not a fair skin girl's best friend), I still can't help love this set and how much it screams Summer!  The minute I saw it revealed, I knew I had to have it in my stamp collection!! I started out by simply stamping out this adorable image onto a piece of smooth white card stock, and colored it in with my Copic Markers.  Since some of you like to reference exactly what markers were used, here is a breakdown - Skin - E11, E13 - Hair E18 and E37 - Flamingo - R02, R22, and R11, Bathing Suit - B24 and BV04, ...

Plane and Simple!

Hi friends!  Kari  with you today, and I am happy to share this fun card with a little bit of rainbow goodness, and punny sentiments! For today's card project, I wanted to ink up one of my favorite sets from the Lawn Fawn release called  Plane and Simple .  I had this vision in my head that one of the planes was flying in a rainbow path, because rainbows are happy and cheery!  So, that is what I started out creating first. I die cut a piece of smooth white card stock with the largest of the Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables from Lawn Fawn.  I created out of some masking paper from Inkadinkado, and I took one of the Stitched Hillside Borders dies and had to separate pieces to create a wave pattern.  Then, I took some Distress Inks in Candied Apple, Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean, Blue Print Sketch, and Wilted Violet to create my rainbow wave :) Then, I peeled back my masks to reveal a nice sharp line! ...

If You Were Ice Cream... ( Stretching your stamps)

Hello and welcome back!   Kari  here with you to share a "yummy" card featuring the  Two Scoops  stamp set from Sunny Studio!  I had this idea in my head that I wanted to some how add chocolate to my ice cream cone to make it appear as if it had been dipped in chocolate!!   To do this, I stamped the layers of my cone as it was intended with the two layers to create a "dimensional" cone.  I used both  Doe Ink  for my lightest layer, and  Walnut Ink  for my darker layer.  Then it was time to add the look of my cone dipped in chocolate, so I reversed the cone image ( it doesn't matter which one you use) and I partially inked up the stamp you would normally mount to your block or stamp positioner with a very dark brown ink - in this case I used Espresso Truffle Memento Luxe ink as it was my darkest brown I own.  I didn't care that it was a pigment ink.  You can quickly dry it with your heat tool to speed up the dr...

Wonderful Day | Floral Bouquet

Hi all!   Kari  with you today to share this floral bouquet card featuring the Avery Elle  Floral Bouquet  stamp set and its  coordinating dies .  When I saw this set, I immediately fell in love with it as there are a lot of very detailed floral images out there, and I love how this one has detail, but it is simple at the same time, and that is great for those like me that don't color in floral images very often. I thought about the different ways I could color in these beautiful flowers, and decided to use my  Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers .  I stamped out the main image from this set and stamped it onto a piece of Canson XL watercolor paper.  I prepped my surface with a powder tool, and used my  VersaMark  ink to cover the entire image, and then used some Silver embossing powder, and used my heat tool to set.   From there, I was ready to color in my images using #30 Blue, #81 Violet for the flowers, and #40 Gr...

One Layer Cards | Two Ways | Rainbow Edition

Hi Friends!   Kari  back with you today sharing some rainbow goodness!  First, before I get started with today's post, I would like to take a moment and thank all of the men and women in uniform on this Memorial Day who sacrifice themselves on the daily, so my family and I can live a life of freedom.  Today is a day to remember and reflect, but honestly I feel we should do this everyday don't you?!  You are all brave to serve, and I know that saying a simple thank you isn't enough compared to what you do, and what you sacrifice.   OK - so with that said - lets's move on to these One Layer Wonders :)   So if you are like me, coming up with ideas to create one layer cards can be a challenge.  So, my go-to for this when I can't think of anything else, is to create a rainbow somehow somewhere on my card.  Today, I wanted to share what I did with the  Altenew Halftone Circles  stamp set as well as the  Concord & 9th...
