Fa La La

Hello, Friends! It's Allison here, and I'm excited to be back on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog today. I am sharing this cute slimline card featuring some of the Peek-a-Boo animals from Avery Elle . Everything used on this card can be found in the online shop . This card was really fun to make and pretty straightforward. I started with a panel of white card stock and blended Distress Oxide Inks in the following colors: Prize Ribbon, Blueprint Sketch and Black Soot. I created the snowy background with a white gel pen. I then cut a panel of white card stock using the Slimline Stitched Square Trio Die-namics from My Favorite Things .  I stamped three of the animals from the Polar Bear Peek-a-Boo Pals stamp set, colored them with Copic markers and fussy cut them out. I did use masking to stamp the scarf on the bear instead of having the scarf be a separate element.  I trimmed the window panel down so that it was even on all sides, and then I created a blue slimline card b

Beautiful Blessings

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a Wonderful Valentine's Day!! It is  Dana  here today with a set of cards using lots of products from  MFT Stamps . Today, I am using the sentiments in the  MFT Stamps: Beautiful Blessings Stamp Set  and the  MFT Stamps: Beautiful Blessings 2 Stamp Set . These sentiments are perfect for showing your love and support to your friends and family that might need a little bit of encouragement. I started my card by die cutting the  MFT Stamps: Heart Tree  from my white cardstock panel. I then mounted a piece of pastel green cardstock behind my die cut tree for the leaves. Next, I mounted my card front onto my A2 pastel colored card bases. I used  Gina K Design Connect Glue  for all of my glueing. The liquid glue allowed me a little time to get everything lined up, had a great hold, and can get into small detailed areas. Then, I die cut my tree trunk and three hearts from the same Heart Tree Die. I inlaid these pieces back into my card fronts.

Thank you Bloom card with Studio Katia!

Hi guys! Erica back on the BRI blog today, with my penultimate blog post as part of the Design Team here at Butterfly Reflections Ink . I can’t believe how quickly these 4 months have gone and I have so enjoyed my time here, I can only hope I have provided some inspiration for you all. Right, before I get too soppy and emotional I am going to get on with today’s card. I have used a flower stamp from Studio Katia called ‘ Thank You Very Much ’, which I heat embossed with Gold Tinsel embossing powder from Ranger Ink . I stamped this up with VersaMark directly onto my Canson XL watercolour pad four times and sprinkled the embossing powder directly onto it. This was NOT a good idea by the way. DO not attemp this yourself. Save yourself the hassle of getting embossing powder all over your craft room and pull the sheet off the pad before stamping! We had glorious sunshine weather here in Poland over the weekend so I took my heat embossed flowers and 36-pack Gansai Tambi wate

Birthday Shadow Box Card

Happy Wednesday, BRI friends! Today, I have a box card featuring lots of MFT products to share with you. I love making box card and shared two box cards in previous DT posts, but I made box card template by myself for today's one. Here is what I came up with. To start, I began by creating two box card templates. I trimmed down kraft paper by 4 1/4" x 6 3/4" and scored it at 5 1/2" and 6 1/2" as shown in the picture. For the front, I stamped MFT Whimsical Woodgrain Background Stamp onto one of the templates with MFT Milk Chocolate Dye Ink using masking technique. I die cut it with MFT Die-namics Linked Chain Oval Frames. I then ink blended back of the chain with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Ink using Mini Blending Tool. To complete the front, I taped chain frame as shown using paper tape which is similar to 3M Mircopore Tape. I didn't want add an acetate sheet to the back of chain and used paper tape and really love the result!

Paper lace...

Hi, hello!  Norine here, with a couple of die cut cards to share.  You guys.  This Doodled Lace Cover die by Altenew isn't playing fair! It feels like such a cheat to simply die cut some cardstock, slap it on a card front and instantly have a beautiful card!  It should be harder than that! So, to elevate the amount of effort and thus feel better about myself (wink), after die cutting the complete background panel, I scissor-cut the main floral element from another die cut piece, colored it up with Copics (R01, R20, R32 for the petals and G12, G21, G24 for the leaves) and popped it up on foam tape.  I also die cut the word "hello" from grey card stock  with this Pretty Pink Posh Script die , stamped the word "friend" using the Altenew Halftone Hello set , and adhered that strip over the card background. Then I added some hole-less silver sequins and called it done! I really fell in love with that single floral element though.  S

MFT 2018 Creative Olympics card making frenzy!

Hi guys! It’s is I, Erica, the glutton for punishment, on the BRI blog today. You might wonder what that refers to and I will get to that right this minute: The Olympics. Not the sporting event, no. I’m talking about this: There are four events for this and the deadline is later today, Monday 19th of Feb. For my card for today I decided to participate inMFT 2018 Creative Olympics | Event #4 - Speed Cardmaking. Oh boy... I really, really do not know why I do this to myself... Way back in the day when I was at school, I used to put off assignments using the argument that I work better under pressure. It was a load of rubbish back then and it certainly is a load of rubbish now! The only speed events I take part in these days are cake eating and manic cleaning 10 mins before someone is coming over..!  Well, anyway, I went ahead with my bad idea BUT thought I’d at least come up with a design for the card before I pressed the ‘start’ button on my stopwatch. I do not have a proper

For my (every single day) Valentine

Hi guys! Erica on the blog today with a little Valentine’s Day card for my sweet hubby. Yes, just one card today if you can believe it...! The funny thing is that we don’t really do anything special for Valentine’s Day here, we are the soppy type that do sweet things for each other all the time rather than wait for that one day of the year to make a grand declaration. However, making lovey-dovey cards is one of my favorite things to do. I absolutely adore the bear from Neat & Tangled’s Beary Merry stamp set and I’ve used him for today’s card. As I planned on using Copics, I stamped him up in Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Classic Crest 110# card stock and grabbed my grey markers. I ended up using the cool greys for the big body parts of the bear and warm greys for the tummy, feet and his little muzzle. I also added some pink for rosy cheeks. On the scarf I drew a hearts and dots pattern in a rich red. There is a very quick progress video on my Instagram feed if you want t

Happy Flowers and Chocolates Day!

Hi everyone!   Norine here today, with a couple of simple Valentine's cards to share with you! I started by painting a wash of red watercolor paint on two sheets of watercolor paper.  I used the Gansai Tambi paints for some really rich, intense color that smoothly flows into a pale washed out color.   Once they were dry I could die cut them with the MFT's Peek-a-boo Striped Heart die , once with the heart positioned with the darkest color at the top and again with the darkest color towards the bottom.  Then I could push out the pieces from the one first card panel and replace them with the pieces from the second one.  And because I now had some leftover painted pieces that I'd removed from the first card, I decided to die cut the heart once again on a plain white piece of watercolor paper and add the stripes to that.  After all the pieces were in place and adhered to a card base, I die cut the word "happy" ( Concord & 9th Bits a

Brutus Monroe, True Love Luggage...

Hey folks, it's Norine  and I'm back on the blog again today and switching it up from all the flower cards a couple of days back.  Today I'm sharing a couple of cute and simple cards! I stamped the image from the True Love Luggage stamp set by Brutus Monroe  twice, once onto Strathmore Bristol smooth cardstock for coloring with the Zig Clean Color markers (the Bon Voyage card), and again onto Neenah Solar White cardstock for coloring with Copics (the "Follow You Anywhere card). I stamped the sentiments using individual alphabet stamps like these ones from Lawn Fawn, called Milo's ABCs .  The Bon Voyage sentiment is stamped with all the alphabets bumped together on the MISTI , but for the "follow" sentiment, I didn't have as much room to fit it all in so I drew a line with a straight edge and a pencil, and stamped each letter individually. The Bon Voyage card is a top-folding A2 size card and when I messed up the stamped sentiment

Deer Love

Hi, BRI friends! It's Dana here coming back with one more Valentine's day themed card.  I combined MFT with Altenew products for today's card. Let's get started! To start, I stenciled clouds with Distress Oxide Ink Picked Raspberry using MFT Stencil Mini Cloud Edges and mini blending tool. I die cut hillside using MFT Die-namics Grassy Hills and ink blended it with MFT Spearmint Dye Ink. I stacked up papers for my background from bottom to top, white card base, pink card stock, silver strip foiled vellum, stenciled one and hillside using glue tape and craft foam. Next, I die cut deers from white card stock and white glittery paper using MFT Die-namics Deer Love. I mounted them on the background using glue tape. I then embellished hearts from Pretty Pink Posh Red Heart Confetti around the antler using mini foam adhesive. This work needed lots of patience to me but it was worth doing. I applied Nuvo Crystal Ebony Black to deers' eyes and let them dried.
