Workouts Wednesday Updates

Image
I did not do an update last week because I was just chugging along on my step goal and nothing exciting was happening.  Just cranking out the same steps everyday though gets pretty boring as I am sure you know if you have tried it, even if you are training for something bigger.  Mike was looking for something to make our walks a little more interesting and he discovered that there is an app for Walking to Mordor.  Now if you have been around the blog for a while then you know that I attempted the Walk to Mordor before and lost interest in it because tracking it was not the easiest thing.  But guys, there is an app. So Mike and I are now in a race to Mordor and I am losing.  Badly for the moment but we are only 4 days in and things can change in an instant. Our rules for the challenge are as follows: 1) Anything that we count towards our progress must be done intentionally and counted separately from average day to day walking. 2) One must be carrying t...

Wednesday Fitness Updates

I have been pushing a goal of hitting my step goal every day for the past two weeks and doing a lot of hiking as Cat, Mike and I signed up to do the  Super Power 5K  in August and I am a little out of shape. We have done a lot of trail walking in our area and bought some books to find new trails to explore in the GTA.  My personal favourite of the new trails being the one around Bond Lake in Richmond Hill which if you live in the area you should check out as it is a fun hike. As the summer progresses I want to add other things into my routine such as starting Body Boss up again but right now I am concentrating on the walking and drinking my water as those are two habits I need to get down before progressing. See you next week.

Fitness Friday

I am still on a no exercise ban until I see the surgeon and get the all clear on August 2.  Have you ever noticed how slow time can go when you are really itching to do something?  That has not stopped my from keeping up with my walking though.  I even set a goal of 365km on Runkeeper by July 2018 and I want to see how fast I can hit it. This fitbit update is from this morning after my walk with the Cat to drop her off to camp.  Not quite halfway to my daily goal but I still have to pick her up later.  Day camp has really improved my daily step count a great deal, I will be hard pressed to get my steps once it ends.  How do you get you activity in every day?  Do you have an activity tracker?

One Million Steps In One Month

Last month my boss and I were talking about my Fitbit and how I like it and doing weekly challenges and that sort of thing and he told me about a friend of his who is a very busy guy and completed a million steps in a month challenge. I thought that was a fantastic idea and of course immediately wanted to try it.  My boss suggested that I do it in a month with 31 days so that I have a little extra time to break it down over so I decided to give it a go for July. A million steps in 31 days works out to around 32,259 steps a day well over double what I average on most days now but about what I hit on a really good day. I had a problem with my Fitbit battery earlier this week so I am just hoping that it keeps up through this challenge. I will try to post my daily totals here on the blog to keep track and keep accountable. Wish me luck.
