Goals Going Into My Last Year In My 30's

Next week, next Wednesday to be exact, I turn 39.  Which I feel a lot of pressure for as it will be the last year I have before I turn 40 and with everything that is going on in the world right now I realize how much more that there is that I want to get done before I turn 40. My health has been causing me problems this year and my doctor has recommended that I lose a little weight to help.  This is really high on my list for the coming year as I do not want to go into my 40's having preventable health issues.  Also on my list, as always is continued learning, as the current situation in the world had sharply shown me this year you never know what is going to happen and I want to make sure that I have something to fall back on should the worst happen. Being home all day, everyday has help me see how much time I really do have that is free and I waste doing things that bring me little to no pleasure.  I have spent some time today working on my novel that I start...

Blog Tour Review: My Sister's Intended

Image
Blog Tour - March 28th to April 12th My Sister's Intended by Rachael Anderson For as long as Prudence can remember, it has been understood that her sister will one day wed the eldest son of their nearest neighbor. Such an alliance will benefit both families and bring a great deal of joy to all parents involved. Unfortunately, Prudence has never been able to feel as joyful. She believes her sister is mad to consider marrying a man she hardly knows, even if he will one day make her a countess. Titles and wealth shouldn't factor into matters of the heart, and as an aspiring romance novelist, Prudence cannot fathom how anyone could even think of settling for less than love. She certainly wouldn’t, and she doesn't want her sister to either. Unable to stand by and do nothing, Prudence sets out to help the awkward couple discover the best in each other with the hope that they will eventually find love. What she neglected to foresee, however, was the possibility...

My Favourite......Book Character

Image
My Favorite.. is a weekly meme hosted by Maureen’s Books. In this meme we share every week something we love with each other. Because let’s face it.. The world can be a dark place and it’s time to share something positive. For more info:  My Favorite Meme . Picking a favourite book character is like picking a favourite child.  It's not really possible,  I love them all so much.  However, when I first read this the first character to pop into my mind was Cara, from the Sword of Truth series.  I love the Mordsith, they have been through hell and back and they find the inner strength to keep going, that's powerful. Cara comes  out as a favourite above the other Mordsith probably just because she is more prominent in the series but they all hold a special place in my heart as the character type resonates strongly.   What is your favourite book character?

My Favourite.....Animated Movie

My Favorite.. is a weekly meme hosted by Maureen’s Books. In this meme we share every week something we love with each other. Because let’s face it.. The world can be a dark place and it’s time to share something positive. For more info:  My Favorite Meme . If this had come up just a few weeks ago it would have been hard, I am a huge animated movie fan so there are so, so many that I love but that was for we finally got out to see Moana.  We had not seen it due to scheduling with the kids and I was super excited that it was still playing in the theaters. Moana is really my kind of girl, she sets off on an adventure to save her home and her family.  She is brave and loving and my gosh..that hair!  It is a great, great movie. I cannot stop singing the songs from this movie.  I mean, the movie is fantastic and we loved it and have already added it to our movie collection but the music.  So much more.  I am how my daughter was a few years ag...

A to Z Challenge 2017: Theme Reveal

Not that long ago I was in a huge panic, I had a theme for the challenge this year but I had done none of the work and only had one post written and scheduled.  I blame my son who gave me the flu and then took off on a March Break adventure.  Leaving me to fend for myself sick.  (was not pretty) Flash forward a few days though and I was feeling better but still pretty tired so I spent a whole night in bed reading which gave me a huge bump forward so I decided to keep my theme sort of.  It was going to be me reading through a series for every letter of the alphabet and reviewing each book. Instead I just went with what came up again, some are a single book, some are multiple books, some are novellas.  All are off the jungle that is my kindle.  Man that thing is too full of books, I could read two a day for the next ten years and not be through it.  Yet I keep adding more....I have a problem. That does not even count the books I read with Kindle Unli...

Image
Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  Kitbits . Today I am celebrating one kid coming home from their March Break adventures.  Having both of them away at once is too much for me. I am also celebrating spring starting next week, it has not been a hard winter but I am tired of it all the same. What are you celebrating this week?

Birthdays, A to Z Challenge and Other Things

Image
Here we are at the end of March and I am not sure how we got here so fast.  It feels like this year so far has flown by and I don't know what I have done with my time at all in the last three months. Scary, scary. Tomorrow is a very important day, it is both the start of the A to Z Challenge and my 35th birthday.  I am probably more excited about the challenge this year than my birthday as I decided to read a book and review it for ever letter of the alphabet.  I am not quite done yet but well over half my posts are finished and scheduled which is the best position I have ever been in at this point in the challenge so I look forward to getting to relax and read lots of other blogs this year. My birthday I have mixed emotions about, I am not ready to turn 35, there are things I wanted to have done by now that I have not and I am really not okay with that.  There's been a whole lot of what am I doing with my life going on in the last few days.  The last year h...

L’Oréal Paris Hydra-Total 5 Ultra-Even Vox Box

Image
I got picked to participate in the L'Oreal Paris Hydra-Total 5 Vox Box.  #5Works  #BeyondHydration I was super excited because I haven't done a Vox Box in a while. Now prior to this Vox Box my skin care routine was pretty simple, I washed my face twice a day, taking extra care at night if I was wearing make up that day and slapped on some lotion if it was feeling dry or tight afterwords.  Now that I have been consistently doing something more for several weeks I can really feel the difference that it makes. Step One: Exfoliate! The Ultra Even Exfoliating face scrub has a fantastic scent and feel to it.  I love how it lathers up and I felt great washing my face with it twice a day. Ultra Even Toner is something I never knew that I couldn't live without.  After I am done washing my face, I grab a round and use it to run the toner over my face.  I feel like it removes so much more guck and grime than washing alone.  I love it! For so...

A Day At The ROM

Image
Sadly it feels like it's been forever since I've done a blog post about a day out with the kids.  It's not that we don't do the days out, it's mostly that I don't take pictures as I haven't been able to find my camera since we moved and my phone was sketchy at best.  I have replaced my phone and the new one has a fantastic camera so look out for lots more fun posts! On Saturday the kids and I went to the ROM to spend the day seeing if they could soak up any knowledge.  Cat was excited to go see the dinosaur bones and Ace wanted to check out the mummies. Me, I wanted to check out the Mexican textiles exhibit. Ace didn't want to join in our pre-museum selfie, he's too cool to take pictures with his family. He did pose with his sister behind this old door frame though. Dinosaur bones and the kids checking them out. Our Egyptian detour, how cool is that step pyramid?  I just read a bunch of books about ancient Egyp...
