Throwback Thursday: Family Cosplay

Image
When we went to Toronto ComiCon in March we pulled together this lovely Doctor Who family Cosplay which I did not get many pictures of.  I did get this great one taken with the Doctor Who Society Daleks though.

Cosplay Plans: She-Hulk

Image
I have never before felt the urge to cosplay a super hero, usually I stick to easy to cosplay with out much criticism characters.  But I am on a huge kick to get back in shape and something about She-hulk calls to me so I thought that she would be a great goal for getting into shape.  Going through pictures on the internet I have found quite a few different costumes that I have varying degrees of fondness for.  There will be lots of research till I find something that suits my comfort level for wearing to a convention I am sure. The bigger part of these plans though is to get into a cosplaying She-Hulk kind of shape.  I know that a year is no where near enough time to go from my current shape to body builder shape.  However, I think that with a lot of hard work and dedication I can get into decent enough shape to feel comfortable with it. There will be periodic updates here on the blog but if you want to hear all of the nitty gritty follow @...

Celebrate The Small Things: March 6, 2015

Image
Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . I have a lot of things I am celebrating this week both big and small, on the small side I got a start on my shoes for my Poison Ivy costume and they are working out better than I was worried that they might. On the much bigger side, I made a decision on a wedding dress and went ahead with buying one.  It's a little more expensive (but not majorly) than I really wanted but it is everything I wanted so we will work out the budget somewhere else.  (like I will finally maybe get that Etsy store I have been talking about for five years up and running?) This weekend we are going to check out our top choice for a wedding venue so we are all really excited about that.  I think Cat might be the most excited.  I am really happy that the kids are so happy to be involved in the whole process of helping us plan. What ar...

Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . This week I am celebrating getting to spend some time working on my Poison Ivy Cosplay for Toronto Comicon next month.  Also, my sister is helping me do a make up test this weekend so that's fun. Cat got an excellent report card, her attitude at school has improved by leaps and bounds I am so proud of her. What are you celebrating this week?

Fluttershy's Skirt

Image
I think my favorite part of my Fluttershy cos-play was the skirt.  I am a huge fan of twirly skirts and this one was exactly that.   It was my first attempt at making a circle skirt so it didn't come out perfect but I learned a lot about what not to do next time and I love it anyways. I used  this  super awesome tutorial from Lex at What The Craft.  The things Lex makes are a kind of awesome I can't even begin to aspire to and should definitely be checked out  here.   How great other people's work is really inspires me to keep trying, even when my attempts massively fail because one day I will be able to make what I see in my head come out looking as fantastic as I think it is going to. So, silly butt that I am I got so involved in the actual making of the skirt that I didn't remember to take pictures until I got to the last step. That was the skirt right before the final step.  I think my biggest error was in the material I chose, it wa...
