January 1, 2019 Q and A

So I got myself a bunch of fancy journals once and they have been collecting dust on my bookshelf.  Cleaning my bookshelves is another one of my big goals this year.  I have decided to use my fancy prompt journals for blogging.  This one is my favourite, it is one of those ones where you have a question a day and you ask yourself the same one every year and see how the answers have changed. 1) What is your mission? My mission for this coming year is to be true to myself and do what more of what make me happy and less of what I feel I have to (in my own head, due to imaginary social pressure not real things). I rather like the things I like and want to just go with that flow.

Monday Question Two

I was busy doing some other things this week and did not have time to make a new graphic as the other one did not work.  (boo!)  I promise to have one up for next week. This week's question is:  What are your 2018 reading goals? For 2018 my reading goal is 75 books on Goodreads and more importantly to also track them.  Because Goodreads will tell you that I did not hit my 100 book goal last year but the truth is I am just a lousy tracker.  I have lower my goal because with all the studying I have less time for reading for fun.  Hopefully I can crank it back up there next year or when I finally get used to studying again.  (it did not used to be this hard) Next Monday's question is:  What is something that you have always want to do that you are taking on this year?

Hi everyone! Time for The Friendly Fill-Ins, be sure to add your link at McGuffy's Reader. 1. My guiding word for 2018 is _____________________.    2. A house is not a home without ________________________. 3. I look forward to                           this year. 4.  I really need to                    , because                      .   My answers:   1) My guiding word for 2018 is improvement.  I have found my motivation for self improvement and I am working with it.  I do not have to be perfect but I would like to be better.   2) A house is not a home without a pet.  I do not know what I would do without my furry little angels.    3) I look forward to Argos season this year.   4) I really need to stu...

Monday's Question One

Image
A big part of my goals for 2018 includes working on blogging and putting myself out there more on social media.  (I am also learning to make my own graphics)  I always love opportunities to join up with other bloggers and see what is going on in their worlds.  I have never hosted a blog link up before but this year I am planning on doing two, Mondays and Wednesday. This is the first week so it won't be too exciting but I am hoping to have people link up.  Monday's will be a simple question and you can answer as much or as little as you like.  Drop you link in the link list and visit others who answered as well.  Next week's question will always be at the bottom of my post. Question One: What is a question that people always ask you? Since I started dying my hair different colours I get asked about it constantly.  Is that your favourite colour? (some days)  Did you match your shirt to your hair on purpose? (no)  Does it take a lot of ...

January Goals Update One

January has been an interesting month for me so far.  I had a strong start thanks to using my Audible credit for December on a "self help book" which really shook me into action.  My first week of cross offs are in purple.  This month's goals: 1) Get diath piercing. 2) Clean up my book shelves. 3) Put pictures into photo albums. 4) Design daily planner printable since I can't find one I like. 5) Finish the one section of my fitness course. 6) Finish one section of my update course. 7) Finish one section of my event planing course. 8) Earn one CE credit. 9) Start a book club. 10) Read 5 books towards my Goodreads Challenge. 11) List 3 things in my Etsy Shop. 12) Set up a dedicated crafting area. 13) Write every day. 14) Prep lunches in advance. 15) Make a meal plan for February. 16) Clean out Dvd's. 17) Unsubscribe from unwanted emails. 18) Go to the ROM. 19) Set up a savings plan. 20) Make my bed every day. 21) Organize ...

One goal I have for 2018 is ________________________. 3. In 2017, I accomplished                      . 4. I                   in 2017. My answers:   1) On New Year's Eve, I went to the movies to finally see Justice League.  I was glad that I did not pay for the ticket but I am not unimpressed with Aquaman.  2) One goal I have for 2018 is to take a picture every day.  I am not promising inspired pictures or anything but there will be a photo every day.  I will update once in a while on the blog but you can follow me on  Instagram 3) in 2017, I accomplished less than I would have liked.  I had goals but I got unfocused and I did not get serious about them until t...

The first throwback Thursday of the year lands on my grandmother's birthday.  My grandmother passed away 20 years ago last years ago last December and it's still difficult.

31 Goals For January

At the end of last year I came up with 40 goals for myself for the last 40 days of 2017.  I did not finish all 40 goals but it did motivate me to get a lot of stuff done and I had a lot of fun doing it.  I was going to do a list of things that I wanted to do for the whole year this year but I thought as things are ever evolving that it would be better to do one new thing for every day of the month starting in January and just pull over from one month to the next the few extra things that did not get done. Including the things from last year's list that I did not finish. New for January: 1) Get diath piercing. 2) Clean up my book shelves. 3) Put pictures into photo albums. 4) Designing daily planner printable since I can't find one I like. 5) Finish the one section of my fitness course. 6) Finish one section of my update course. 7) Finish one section of my event planing course. 8) Earn one CE credit. 9) Start a book club. 10) Read 5 books towards my Goodr...

January Q and A a Day 2017

So I got myself a bunch of fancy journals last year and they have been collecting dust on my bookshelf.  Cleaning my bookshelves is another one of my big goals this year.  I have decided to use my fancy prompt journals for blogging.  This one is my favourite, it is one of those ones where you have a question a day and you ask yourself the same one every year and see how the answers have changed. January 1: What is your mission? My mission this year is to organize my life. January 2: Can people change? I think that people can change if they really want to and really try hard. January 3: What are you reading right now? Right now I am reading Star Wars: Aftermath.  I listened to the Audiobook last year and I loved it but to be honest I do not feel the same way about reading the book.  Just not feeling it on paper and I am sad about that. January 4: What was the best part of today? Getting to spend quality time with my dad, it is not something that h...

Connect The Dots

Image
I have been super stressed lately and looking for a way to relax in the evenings that truly works for me.  I tried the adult colouring thing but that did not work for my mind. I found one of these adult connect the dots books in the bargain bin at the grocery store when I was walking laps to hit my step goal the other night. (it was too cold outside)  After flipping through it I thought it was worth a shot and brought it home.  Mostly I was just fascinated with  how complicated that they were, 400 dots, 900 dots...sign me up. I did my first one tonight and it was so relaxing.  Using a ruler to draw repetitive tiny lines, apparently that is my idea of a zen state.  It was only a tiny connect the dots and after I was done I felt like I had a power nap. Amazing!!  My lines could use some work though, even with a ruler they are not straight. Do you connect the dots?

Celebrate The Small Things: January 27, 2017

Image
Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . This week I am having trouble finding anything to celebrate, it has been a long and rough week at work.  I do have a job though so there is that. Mostly I guess I am celebrating that it is the weekend and I get to have a glass of wine. What are you celebrating?

My Favourite.... Holiday

Image
My Favorite.. is a weekly meme hosted by Maureen’s Books. In this meme we share every week something we love with each other. Because let’s face it.. The world can be a dark place and it’s time to share something positive. For more info:  My Favorite Meme . My favourite holiday is Halloween.  I love dressing up and seeing the kids so excited to go out and interact with the community.  I love making up little packages to give out. I wear two costumes at least every year.  One for work and one to take the kids out trick or treating. I also love to see the house that really go all out decorating for Halloween.

Family Pictures Take One

Image
We had some family pictures taken as a present to my mom a few weeks ago and I just got them back yesterday.  Ace is starting to go through that I don't want to go do anything stage so he refused to smile but I think they still turned out sort of all right. One of these days I am going to figure out how to rotate pictures on the blog, then we will really be working out well. And here is the first one of the whole family, where at least he attempted to smile.  Ugh! Preteens! There are some more great shots that I am looking forward to having of me and the kids and one of me and my mom and my sister that is fantastic.  This really sets the tone for the year though, I want to have more pictures of my kids with my parents and even with us so that one day when they are sitting down with their kids they can share the memories. Whether those memories are formal pictures like these or silly selfies taken on a cell phone. Do you make sure to be in the picture...

Mean Girl Makeover Review

Image
Bullying doesn't end in the hallway anymore--with a smartphone or tablet, it can happen "anywhere." According to the Ambassadors 4 Kids Club, one out of every four students is bullied--and 85% of these situations never receive intervention. Parents, students, and teachers alike have amped up discussions on how to solve the bullying problem for a networked generation of kids. Written by bestselling author, Nancy Rue, each book in the Mean Girl Makeover trilogy focuses on a different character's point of view: the bully, the victim, and the bystander. The books, based on Scripture, show solid biblical solutions to the bullying problem set in a story for tween girls. "You Can't Sit With Us" tells the story of Ginger Hollingberry, a new sixth grader at Gold Country Middle School. Ginger has been the brunt of teasing and taunting from the queen bee of GCMS, Kylie Steppe, and her so-called Wolf Pack. Kylie and the Pack favor a new and especially hurtful me...

The Gratitude Journal Project

For the first time since I have started blogging I did not do a big goals or resolutions post this year.  Not because  I don't have any, I do but because they are a little more broad spectrum this year and I thought that maybe they would need their own posts to come out when the time was right. One of my goals for 2017 is to show more gratitude for the things that I have, which is in turn part of a larger goal but we will get to that another time.  I have tried to start a Gratitude Journal before but I got lost in trying to make it prefect rather than jumping right in and getting started which is a problem that I have a lot.  Then I remembered that I have this wonderful blog, which is like an online journal. A place where I can just go and keep track of the things that I am grateful for and publish it or not. Today I am grateful for: -my job, I work with wonderful people. -my children. -sweaters -my mom -coffee Do you keep a gratitude journal?

Celebrate The Small Things: January 13, 2017

Image
Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . Just when I think I will have more time to myself I don't...why is that always a thing? Anyhow, this week I am celebrating a pretty big victory, since I started on my weight loss journey late last year I have lost 26lbs and I feel fantastic. What are you celebrating this week?

The Exercise Alphabet

Image
A really big resolution for me this year is to get back into shape, I have a lot of important events coming up and the extra 40lbs I put on over the last few months of super stress have not made me happy.  Not to mention they won't help fitting into all the expensive dresses that are already purchased. I first saw this idea on  International Geek Girls Pen Pals Club  who were doing a word a day for the month of January.  I changed the alphabet up a bit as there are some specific areas that I really want to work and I am offering you a word a day for the next year.  Let's get in some extra exercise together. A – 20 Alternating Hammer Curls                                              B – 10 Lateral Raises                                      ...

The Plant Nanny app on my phone, I am the worst for drinking water so trying to keep a plant alive by logging how much water I drink is very enlightening.  It took me killing a few plants but I am getting the hang of drinking enough every day. Reading... I have been sick for the last week so I have done very little reading which bites because I was hoping to be a lot further along on my A to Z Challenge project.  Right now I am reading and enjoying City of Blaze. Watching... Still watching my way through Sabrina, I am on Season Four now and I have gotten to the episodes I don't remember seeing the first time around. Listening To... I have been basking in the past lately, some teenage girls on the bus the oth...
