Monday's Question One

Image
A big part of my goals for 2018 includes working on blogging and putting myself out there more on social media.  (I am also learning to make my own graphics)  I always love opportunities to join up with other bloggers and see what is going on in their worlds.  I have never hosted a blog link up before but this year I am planning on doing two, Mondays and Wednesday. This is the first week so it won't be too exciting but I am hoping to have people link up.  Monday's will be a simple question and you can answer as much or as little as you like.  Drop you link in the link list and visit others who answered as well.  Next week's question will always be at the bottom of my post. Question One: What is a question that people always ask you? Since I started dying my hair different colours I get asked about it constantly.  Is that your favourite colour? (some days)  Did you match your shirt to your hair on purpose? (no)  Does it take a lot of ...

Celebrate The Small Things: February 5, 2016

Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . This week I am celebrating the slight reprieve in the winter weather, I have been squeezing in as much outdoor time as I can before the cold weather starts up again. I am also celebrating simple decision making as we have been working our way through some tough stuff in life lately and small decisions seem to be making it a little easier to deal with now. What are you celebrating this week?

Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . This week I am celebrating the fact that we have a balcony now, I hate when the rain wakes me up but I love watching the storms. I am also celebrating the fact that we got the kids snowsuit purchases out of the way last weekend, I just heard we are in for flurries this weekend.  Eek! What are you celebrating this week?

Celebrate The Small Things: August 7, 2015

Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . This week I am celebrating the fact that I have a job to go to get away from the craziness of moving.  If I didn't I might have gone crazy by now and ended up buried under a pile of all the stuff that didn't seem like quite so much before I tried to pack it.  I really envy the people (like Mike) who can be really brutal and just be like "Yup, don't need this" I am so attached to 90% of the things I own. Trying to purge books has been stonewalled twice by getting all teary-eyed over some book from high school English class that I will never read again but can't part with.  These are literary classics...one needs to own a copy of Call of The Wild.  People will judge me if I don't.  (well mostly I will judge me but hey) The kids might need it to read in school.  And I REALLY loved that book. I am als...

The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: You have been blindfolded & taken to a secret place, when the blindfold is removed, where are you? When my blindfold was taken off I would be seated in a plush window seat surrounded by super soft, fluffy pillows.  I would have a gorgeous view of the ocean and my laptop so that I could write. Next to me on a tiny table is a well made latte which was served by Ianto, he is hovering nearby in case I should desire more coffee.

The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: Pick one of your 5 senses you find the most important to you. Okay, so this is actually the topic from the beginning of the month but I am like always behind and I like it so I am posting it now. I think that touch is probably the most important sense to me.  With all the sewing and crocheting and other crafting that I do I always have my hands on some sort of fabric or yarn or something and that tactile sensation is very important to me.  Not to mention all the typing and writing I do.

Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . I have a big celebration this week, my baby turns six!  It's so hard to believe that she has grown up so fast.  :(  It seems like just yesterday she was a tiny baby and now she's getting ready to graduate senior kindergarten. The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: Name a few things you like to eat while writing. I am ashamed to admit it but I have a major Cheetos addiction. That and chocolate and I could survive locked away writing in a cabin for months. Well and coffee of course.

The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: What quirks does your BFF have that you adore, because it makes them unique? This is a photo of me and my BFF, aren't we adorable?  Like puppies right?  Anyway...back to quirks that I adore, the dictionary defines a quirk as a peculiar behavioral habit.  I can't say that she has any quirks so to speak but I adore her most of the time just the same. This is a blog hop (that I am a week behind on) usually I would post the linky list here but when I went  to grab it said it was expired so when it is back up and running I will come back and update it for you all.

Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom This week I am celebrating the successful launch brunch that the Toronto chapter of Geek Girl Brunch had last weekend.  We had about 10 Brunchettes show up and given that it was a long weekend I think that was pretty great.  Now to gear up for next month's brunch, which has a Space Travelers theme.  (matches my wedding theme, great practice for me) Also on my list of celebrations this week is that my phone has FINALLY been fixed and I have it back.  I have never been happier.  I missed it so much. What are you celebrating this week?

The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: Tell us something you haven't tried yet but would like to. ( this is actually from the beginning of the month, I am playing catch up) One thing I have never tried but I would really like to is cross stitch (lame I know) but it's something I have always wanted to have a go at.  Ace even bought me some easy kits for Christmas last year but I just haven't been able to make the time. It's on my project list, you know after finishing those Cosplay's I have going for Fan Expo and moving and all that jazz. This is a blog hop, check out what everyone else had to say here:

Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . This week a had a few small things crop up to celebrate, Ace had a trip to the orthodontist and he isn't going to need the expander that thought he would need at his last visit. (huge relief) Also had an old friend get in touch that I haven't spoken to in a very long time which is always lovely. Finally, I am vaguely starting to feel less like I am going to die when I am running.  It's only the smallest improvement but I can feel.  It makes me happy because after today's run the next one get really hard. This post is part of a blog hop, please swing by and check out what everyone else has had to celebrate this week,  Have a great weekend everyone.

Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . The first thing I am celebrating this week is that I made it to the end of April with my sanity intact!  Another Challenge notched on the blog! Also, two weeks from tomorrow is the launch brunch for Geek Girl Brunch Toronto/Niagara Chapter for which I am an officer and I am super excited. (and nervous)  This means the next two weeks will be full of tons of work and excitement.  I will also be doing some guest blogs over at our  chapter blog  so you should check that out.  (and if you are in the Greater Toronto Area check us out , we are going to have a great time with our Marvel themed brunch and then go see Avengers) In other notes, the running practice went for a little dip because of all the migraines (stupid spring) but I pushed Mike into doing a 5k with me and now Mr. Competitive is kicking my ...

Celebrate the Small Things is hosted by  Lexa Cain  along with wonderful co- hosts  Writing Off The Edge  and  The Cyborg Mom . I have a lot of things I am celebrating this week both big and small, on the small side I got a start on my shoes for my Poison Ivy costume and they are working out better than I was worried that they might. On the much bigger side, I made a decision on a wedding dress and went ahead with buying one.  It's a little more expensive (but not majorly) than I really wanted but it is everything I wanted so we will work out the budget somewhere else.  (like I will finally maybe get that Etsy store I have been talking about for five years up and running?) This weekend we are going to check out our top choice for a wedding venue so we are all really excited about that.  I think Cat might be the most excited.  I am really happy that the kids are so happy to be involved in the whole process of helping us plan. What ar...

The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: Who would narrate your life in a movie? (submitted by Debra @ The White Mage) I love this question so much!  What a fun thing to think about, I would love to have a movie of my life made.  There are a few parts of it that would make for excellent story lines. As for my choice for a narrator, it would have to be Peter Capaldi of course.  I couldn't imagine anyone better.  That accent is to die for. Who would narrate the story of your life? This is a blog hop, check out what everyone else has to say too:

The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: Name a secondary character who you think deserves their own series/stand alone. There are so many secondary characters that I would like to see get their day in the sun that this was a hard choice but one of my very favourites is Chase from Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth books. The tough, always prepared boundary warden is one of my favourite characters (after the Mord Sith) and I would love to see more of him and his family.  Even just a little one off story like Debt of Bones was for Zedd would be fantastic. Who is a secondary character that you think deserves a shot a stardom? This is a blog hop:

So clearly I am a little late with this post but hey, that's just how I roll. The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: What's the most creative way you can come up with to send a thank you note?  (submitted by J. Lenni Dorner) I like to send thank you notes, sadly I am always slow and they usually end up being really late.  Like months late.  But always cute. I am not very original though, I just send plain old thank you notes with cards or postcards.  I just plaster them with stickers like I do everything else that gets mailed out of my house.  Because everything is better with stickers. How do you like to say thank you?

The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted  Bouquet Of Books  and  Entertaining Interests .  This week's topic is: What are some writerly tips you've found helpful? The most helpful writing advice to me is to write every day.  Just write.  Write anything.  A journal entry, a blog, your WIP, a short story, a poem. Whatever floats your boat. When I was my high school creative writing class our teacher would make us spend the first twenty minutes of the class writing in journals.  We could write whatever we wanted.  I still have those journals.  I used them for story outlining, character drafting, name idea listing, poetry, short stories and occasional random thoughts. The other tip that I have found works wonders is just keep writing, don't look back.  You can edit later.  I wish I had learned that one a long time ago.  My writing is getting much stronger now.  (or at least moving forward) What writing tips hav...
