A to Z Challenge 2017: R

Image
When helicopters and armored vehicles filled with soldiers in hazmat suits quarantine the small mountain town of Resurrection, Colorado, Sheriff Rick Johnson feels like the Jihadi wars have followed him home. But while the town follows martial law out of fear of a virus released into the air, Rick isn't buying the official version of events. As he investigates, the cover story unravels and he discovers the military's presence and the salvation they offer isn't what it seems. An opportunity to review this book fell into my lap just before the challenge started and I was so excited.  Jeff Gunhus holds a special place in my heart as an author due to my deep love for his Monster Hunter series.  This book is far from a  kids book but I enjoyed reading it just the same, his writing style really draws you into the story.

The fate of the world hangs in the balance. REVIEW I remember back when I received a copy of the first book in this series to review, I was a little iffy about it...and then I read it.  It was fantastic, it quickly drew me in to Jack's world and I thought that my son would love it.  So I...

Excerpt: Eva lifted her nose in the air, picking up a scent. “What is it?” I asked. But it was T-Rex who answered. “That’s rabbit stew, is what that is.” I sniffed the air. He was right. I smelled food of some kind. The sweet aroma of carrots mixed with earthy potatoes and root vegetables. I couldn’t tell if it was rabbit stew like T-Rex claimed, but I wouldn’t have bet against him. “Could be a trap,...

Book Review: Jack Templar Monster Hunter

Image
This may be my favourite book that I have read this year, I'm not 100% positive, there's a lot of thought that has to go into picking a number one.  However it's definitely my favourite that I am able to turn around and hand to Ace afterwords. Right from the cover with the "If you're not a monster hunter, put this book down immediately..." it grabs your attention and I assure you it does not let go.  (Ace thought that was brilliant by the way)  There was a lot of great stuff like that space through the book.  I really enjoyed that. The story was also really fun, lots of action and adventure to keep the kids tuned in.  I often find that more of the books I read would be easier to share with my daughter than my son but Ace is eager to read this one.  A major score for me because he is not a big fiction reader. You can check it out on Amazon  here. I received the product mention above through Tomoson  to facilitate this review but all ...
